I always thought this was just a saying, but I actually felt like my ears were about to bleed because of this song.
Sorry...I can say this is bad music with as much objectivity is as possible concerning music.
There's no "talent" shining through...she barely sings anything in this, and it's all backed up with that autotune voice synth thing (that I find extremely annoying).

actually every song that uses that voice effect just hast to be terrible
Autotune is used widely in almost every fucking singer in the entire music industry, regardless of genre. It's just that it's used more subtly for the most part. Just because you don't hear T-Pain levels of blatant autotune does not mean it isn't there.

i was obviously talking about the extreme usage of this effect (cher-effect)

I honestly can't decide what's worse. "Subtle" studio manipulation to fake that one has a perfectly natural voice and blow ass when singing live, or having absolutely blatant studio manipulation and using it as a (sometimes terrible) stylistic device.
It's the same shit in the end. This BoA song has OBVIOUS blatant extreme autotune going for all the vocals in it; it's a popular trend nowadays, and it's a studio tool that has been used for quite a while by musicians, although in slightly different forms.
Her voice still isn't that great, even compared to American pop singers like Avril (who apparently can actually sing and play guitar irl) or Mandy Moore.

Sadly, it probably would if she weren't Korean. If this shit came from South America it'd take off.

The vast majority of Asia eats up Korean music like it's the fruit of the gods. I'm not sure what's worse: the Korean music industry producing the same shit for over 8 years, or the rest of Asia buying that shit over and over and fueling the Korean music industry to keep making the same thing.
It's successful because there's a large international audience.

I don't see anything bad about it. Just people trying to make a living by selling products. Both parties are happy so it's fine I guess. The performers are the ones that are getting screwed though, especially the ones who actually believe that they're musicians.
