Previously I have been setup with ADSL2+ getting AMAZING Australian internet speeds of ~9Mb/s down and 0.87Mb/s up. (Yes, Swedish friends, it is possible to have internet this atrocious)
So this is my normal speed.
Yesterday I installed a new router that I bought - a Netgear D6100 to replace my Netcomm NB6Plus4Wn* - and seemingly it was ok at first. But then to my dismay the net started falling down from my incredible 9/0.87 and became even worse - 0.33Mb/s down and 0.66Mbp/s up.
Firstly it was laughable that I finally had better upload than my download - but secondly I am trying to figure out why the new router decided to fall over in a heap.
Everything seemed okay from what I could see in the router settings - the sync to my ISP was fine and normal, wireless appeared to be setup correctly. I even tried connecting a laptop via cat5 to see if it was a wifi issue - nope, even the wired connection was horrid. I also tried messing about with the wifi channel on the off chance someone else in my area had a conflict or something, but still no dice.
In true IT troubleshooting fashion I decided to just go back to basics and plug the old Netcomm router back in, and suddenly we're all good again.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do to check out what had happened here? I'm happy to answer any tech questions you may have to help make a diagnosis as well.
*New router because fibre is coming to my place soon and the netcomm router can't handle that POWAH and also it's ugly compared to the sexy, sleek, glossy black Netgear D6100
