That is how poker works, or any card game for that matter. And that can also apply to many games, including physical sports. I wonder if the new wave of RTS will have to do something like this in order to kick the tried and true method of trying to achieve pure balance via unequal races and maps. And if something like that would be fun or even work. I mean in BW we did have more random elements and bugs in the game, that made it always new and interesting. (50% miss on highground, glitches with stacking, tricks for doing things in game and with map makers, etc). Maybe the problem with SC2 is that it's TOO clean. | ||

So that the true winners are really on the long game, playing the best odds every time, but still losing to noobs via pure luck occasionally? My friend, as I said earlier, the problem with SC2 is that it's TOO predictable. Armies traveling in death balls like a dung beetle rolling up shit is anything but "clean". And if something like that would be fun or even work. You don't even need to talk about poker or gambling card games. "Something like that" worked for DotA/LoL and hearthstone : The most popular games atm, based on a credible source -> DH. Even WC3 had small parts of this element, with crits and item drops.
