Here we are, my 10 thousandsthts post on teamliquid. I feel like I've been close to 10.000 for forever so it's nice to be finally done with it haha
I don't really have anything too special planned but I recently finished a song for the glorious TL user that is FuddX, master of balloons, feel free to listen to it while reading the rest of it. Or only listen to it, then read the rest of the blog (ya right, we both know you're way to busy and distracted for that shit)
FuddX - Master Of Balloons
https://soundcloud.com/esports420/fuddx-master-of-balloons
+ Show Spoiler [Lyrics] + Intro: Legend has foretold that our powerful wizard would come to our lands. Ballons would mark his arrival. He'd take all the negativity in the world And turn it into liquid rainbow. He'd help us find ourselves and our inner child.
Verse: When all humanity seems lost there comes the son of a mighty viking god he'd take a look into the souls of the bad guys and turn them into pretty blocks of ice
When all hope seems so damn far away He'll show you magic with his chards when you're howling at the moon he'll lift your spirit with balloons
Chorus: He is FuddX, Master Of Balloons Sculptor of all ice he will cast his spell on you
Verse: But there's no need to be afraid his magic isn't one of hatred no he wouldn't hurt a fly he'll send love, sweet sweet love to us all
On that soundcloud account you'll also find a song I did for CaucasianAsian. For both songs I was very lazy with recording and mixing (you'll probably have to turn your volume up.. ) but it was still a decent learning experience and hopefully I can take some of the knowledge I've gathered and do a good job for when I want to record and mix some more serious music.
Btw. The FuddX song was originally supposed to be funny, but then my sympathy for melancholic sounds was setting in again so it... doesn't quite fit the topic I guess haha
Who is thinking these thoughts? I am. Who am I?
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/nd1j26k.jpg) Ramana Maharshi
So the last 4-6 weeks have been very interesting. My life has changed very significantly. I'm not gonna go into details (ask fusefuse for more information bwahaha) but I've been reading and experiencing topics of... well, some would call it philosophical, some may call it spiritual, some may even call it religious (I certainly wouldn't ) While not entirely sober I had a lot of realizations and since then I have started meditating again. Then my brother gave me a book called "Be Here Now" by Ram Dass and a lot of the things I had experienced started making sense. In the last two weeks I dealt more intensely with the teachings of Ramana Maharshi and rather than just doing meditation two times a day I started a thing called Atma Vichara, or Self-enquiry. You can read about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-enquiry but to really simplify it:
You try not to think.
Why would you wanna think less? Sounds like something a stupid person would want. Well, similar to conventional meditation (like Zen or Vipassana) calming your mind has the benefits if you being more calm, peaceful etc. blabla Step by step (in my case anyways) you get better at not having such a big damn ego, being more compassionate, stop judging others, and being less reliant on the external circumstances of your life. Peace from within, rather than from things "going your way" if you will.
My perception has changed too, it seems the less busy I am chasing thoughts, the more intensely I can use my eyes to see things as they are. And rather than worrying about past and future I am much more in the present. (I've recently also played some games SC2 - turns out the game is much more enjoyable when I don't get so damn angry everytime I lose.) "The Power Of Now" by Eckhard Tolle seems to be another highly popular book that talks about this - I haven't read it yet (ordered it a few days ago), but just from watching a little bit about him it seems that he is essentially saying the same things as Maharshi, just simplified for our simple rational, western minds. I think this might be a good book to start for western atheists since he doesn't use scary words like "god" or "spirit"
So yeah I'm just writing this down to share some of what I've done lately (this is only very, very superficial of course) Feel free to just try it out. If you for example have problems with lack of self-confidence, fear (of the future), stress, gastrological problems (diarrhea, stomach aches), anger, you might really benefit from this. (so yeah I think it could help a whole lot of people)
Now to the fun part. Since I've talked about how my ego is way smaller now: LET THIS BE ALL ABOUT MEEEEEEE
ASK ME (absolutely) ANYTHING: doesn't have to have to do with this blog, or with me... just ask anything you want at all. And if anyone wants to let off steam or something feel free to pm me too
Example: Hi 7mk, I joined TL past 2011... who the fuck are you?

Hi 7mk, I joined TL in 2011, hows it going congrats on 10k posts, thats a whole fucking lot lol
also i gotta say, this URL/title was very deceptive lol Its good to see your recent experience was so eye-opening and that youre doing a lot of introspection nowadays everyone should do that to an extent
Since this is an AMA I should ask a question though How long did this awesome song for/about Fudd take to make, I hear youve included a piano track to augment the usual guitar+vocal composition this time

Friday was quite nice! Did some work on my doctorate on forensic psychiatry, then me and my gf had a meeting with this old korean woman. There's a new korean shop near our place and us and the lady who runs the store got talking and we decided that we are gonna be tandem partners. (So we will teach her German and she will teach us Korean). It's quite nice to finally have a real korean store where we can buy truely korean stuff like red bean ice cream and watermelon candy Also the korean lady is very nice, everytime we visit she gives us free food, and she offered to teach my girlfriend how to cook korean. Then I had a singing lesson, and later in the evening I decided to surprise visit my gf with my dog. She's working at a store and that night there was "passagenfest", basically in the central city there was a big party with all kinds of "attractions". I decided to walk through the forest to get there and during I did a lot of Atma Vichara - it took a long time to start working but eventually as I was approaching the town center it did - and it did so really well. It felt like I was on drugs, good stuff. Then gf doggy and me went to a cáfe to drink tea/wine and eat some crazy delicious gnocchi. So yeah, it was a good day!

Your gf is going to learn Korean with you too?
I'm looking for a tandem language partner for German at home here but can't seem to find one anywhere nearby

It is going better than ever! I could have given you updates on my life but I wasn't sure if you were sick of hearing about it yet haha
I am not sure how long the song took... If I had to guess... then writing it took maybe about two hours, recording took maybe 2 hours... and maybe mixing as well? I wrote the song many months ago, I recorded it several weeks ago (I actually feel like I could have done a better job singing now cause I had some good sessions with my vocal teacher) and finished mixing a few days ago. Next time I will focus on recording so long until everything is really tight rythmically. And I will try to be much "cleaner" in my DAW (cubase), and have a more systematic approach to recording vocals. I just hope I will eventually be somewhat decent at mixing, right now it feels more like doing random things. But this was the first time I actually wrote some automation, so that was cool :p

I know, so weird seeing it there, isn't it... We'll see, maybe I'll change it into an Archon. (Zerg in BW, Protoss in SC2)

I'm looking for a tandem language partner for German at home here but can't seem to find one anywhere nearby Yeah we both took 2 semesters at a korean course in university. Unfortunately this course isn't continuing next semester because not enough people are (in all likeliness) gonna register for it. We were 5 students, which is the minimum, now 2 of those are abroad.
You should try living in a country where people aren't so damn far apart as in Canada
And uh yeah.. I don't know man, of course I would love to see Canada one day but it's not at the front of my priority list in terms of countries to visit atm.

Hey 7mk

1. I thought everyone knew that!
2. Favourite gaming series of the past console generation was definitely Mass Effect for me. But to really pick one is hard man... I was a bit FF7 obsessed as a kid, although I mostly just watched my brother play rather than play it myself haha. Fallout 2 was great, Jagged Alliance 2, X-Com:Terror from the deep, Incubation, Counterstrike (I played a lot of CS when I was 14, and also lots and lots of other Half-Life mods I've forgotten about by now) SC:BW, SC2, UT, GTA:San Andreas. I have some good memories of Halo2 and CoD:MW, too. Dark Souls was cool but nowadays I feel like it would be too much stress for me :p. Brütal Legend was awesome too. Some people didn't like the gameplay but I really digged that game. I feel like I'm forgetting a lot of PC games I used to love. There was a game called Stunts (?) for example which I loved as a kid, you could build your own tracks, I guess it's like a really really old version of Trackmania. Need for speed: Hot pursuit was amazing, too. Bought and played the new version once - then never again... pretty disappointing.
I have a wii but I never got into Nintendo games aside from Mario Kart.
I will play Stanley Parable next, and eventually I will finish the GTA V and Planescape Torment games I've started a while ago.
3. Hm I don't know... photography, music, watching good TV shows...I will start doing Vinyasa Yoga today, we'll see how much I like it. I don't know which my favourite is, but atm I spend most time on music, since I practice about an hour on singing every day. Bringing out like a real EP with good sounding music is also the only thing I feel I should do before dying. (Not that I plan on dying any time soon )
4. I have nothing against math. But I rarely have use for it either, aside from adding and subtracting small numbers like everyone else. But I kinda liked it in school, even though the math teachers were always the sternest.
5. I guess dream job would be a musician with a complete lack of financial pressure. But settling down as ambulant psychiatrist which I most likely will end up doing is fine, too. Will take me at least 7 more years though.

How's the weather over where you're at? 1.) I'm sure there's some physiological explanation I "should" know as med student.. but I'll just say that there is sooo much more to each human than our conscious mind - and since sexuality is such a big part of our lives - why wouldn't we have morning wood?
2) I have never used one and I am done picking up women... I feel like I recently heard like the first good one I'd ever heard... damnit can't remember. Or maybe I'm confusing things and the pick up line was (on tinder) "Hi I'm Dave Franco, I'm doing this thing with Conan O'Brien, do you wanna meetup?" Works very well when you're actually Dave Franco.
3) Yes, both very rarely. Although I think I would have had a phase where I said "Dude" a lot of I had been surrounded by english-speaking friends at the time.

It certainly brought me closer to my family.
