I haven't actually played SCII in several weeks. My laptop's temps go up hardcore when I play so I decided to switch to mostly BW with some SCII with friends. Most of my friends don't play SCII anymore though and most that never did in the first place play Dota2 or LoL. Part of playing starcraft is playing games against friends and teammates, doing wacky builds with them etc... but ya, guess that's not gonna happen anytime soon in my case XD BTW, OP, you should just ignore all those news and play SCII on the ladder normally. No reason to spread doom and gloom in the community more than it's already been spread with all the "SCII is dying" posts/thread ![]()

Switch to another game/community like Dota or something where it's currently really popular, maybe it'd change your mood.

If starcraft 2 was called something else and didn't have to do with broodwar, I'm sure it would get much higher regards from the community, although the community would probably be smaller.

Well, maybe someday for me. I still follow the scene from a distance, watch a few games and try to catch big games of players I care about. Once in a blue moon, I catch a game which entertains me. But I'll always miss enjoying a vast majority of the games like I did in BW. I'll miss being so excited about an OSL/MSL/Proleague final that I'd wake up in the middle of the night on a school day to watch it.

Maybe it's time I take up knitting, at least we still have Hearthstone ![]() I have good new for you. MLG did not drop SC2, they are just not running it with a conflicting event that weekend. They have said they want to run SC2 at other events. Just enjoy the game and try to ignore the haters. There will be great SC2 this weekend at Gamescom and we have all of season 3 to rock out too. Plus Blizzcon is coming up. Kids are going to say SC2 is dying, but they just look at stream numbers and say “its not the biggest, that’s dead”. That’s not how life works. As always, “don’t read the comments” is a rule for life.

Viewership might be declining though, MLG dropping SC2 was indeed a blow. EDIT: Though yes, reading through the topic, I was reminded that there were rumors that MLG hasn't dropped it permanently.

We'll never get as many views as the super bowl. I'm sad". What matters is sustainability and we are reaching a point where we can say this is a sustainable scene. It's not perfect, I agree with that, but not because of viewers. The biggest problem right now is the stumbling North American scene which has its head held under water by Blizzard. This thread is great encouragement for starting a thread on the Brood War nostalgia circle-jerk. Yeah you can contemptuously call it nostalgia and circle jerking, while trying to justify the merits of SC2 on it's "sustainability". Pretty sad that business jargon and and e-sports cheerleading precedes or even substitutes actual love and passion for the game. BW was free of that at least, unless I'm remembering wrong (blinded by nostalgia would be apt in that case).

BW was free of that at least, unless I'm remembering wrong (blinded by nostalgia would be apt in that case). I'm not trying to "justify the merits of SC2 on it's "sustainability"". I'm stating a fact which is that while Sc2 isn't the most watched scene the place we are at now is sustainable to have pro players, events offline and online, personalities, casters etc. How am I even e-sports cheerleading? LOL. I'm sure the people who go to live events and who play this game a lot have a passion for it but you're too immature to realize that you not having passion for the game doesn't mean that NO ONE can have passion for the game. You've got a lot of growing up to do.
