Okay three things happened in my house and meant that I ended up locking up and leaving for my girlfriend's. I should probably start by mentioning this is my dad's house and he and my bro have just gone away skiing in Canada. See if you guys would react the same way:
Event 1: [spook level: minor] Get back home 11:30pm yesterday. At 12:10 approximately, the doorbell starts ringing for no reason for 20 seconds then stops. I'm shit scared so I go upstairs and get my hammer and then look out of the window for any perhaps crazy person trying to get me to open the door so they can go clockwork orange on me. I can't see properly because of the overhang of the front porch so I end up calling the police. I ask them if I should go outside to see who's there and they say definitely don't. He gets ready to send a car to help and with the confidence of him being on the line, I go to the front room which has a clear view of the porch. There's no one there. And I am scouting below the window to see if the perp has hidden. I am worried he is trying to get into the side passage but anyway while I am looking at the door, with the police guy on the phone, the bell goes off again and kind of goes spastic. So I tell the police guy it's not a perp it's just the bell so I'm sorry for wasting his time and he says good I'll cancel the police car.
I call my dad who's on holiday and he advises that I just disconnect the doorbell so I do that. Pretty scary to be honest when this has never happened in 15 years of living in the house. But I figure of course it could happen.
Event 2: [spook level: intermediate] Today. I was planning on leaving for London to do some law study in the library at my law school. I got up quite late on account of being on edge the night before. So I'm not sure if I should go and then my gf calls me to say she is too ill to come into London and that seals it for me. I decide to stay home and maybe hit the gym a bit later to work out my tension. At 6pm just as it starts to get dark, after I have been feeling that the day was pretty good, my gf messages me on fb saying 'why aren't you picking up your phone?'. I say I've heard nothing from my house phone, she replies that she called 3 times.
I check my phone and sure enough it's engaged. I go around the house taking each phone off the hook and replacing it. Still no luck, and my house phone is out of commission. Now I feel really isolated and kind of on edge again. Because this has never happened before and I later checked the talk talk (phone provider) forums and they say it's quite a serious thing that could take an engineer callout to fix (something to do with the exchange). Bugger. Just as I could do with a call from someone to comfort me!
Event 3: [spook level: Amnesia] As I was searching for the phones, I checked out the phone in my room. I picked it up and WTF. There was a number pre dialled. I shit you not, it was 666. That spun me out something fierce. What's more, I'd encountered that number a few times the night before, playing football manager and doing other things where random numbers just appeared as 666. So now I was really on edge and kind of shut down. My mobile curiously drained from 20% battery to 0% in about 20 seconds just as I went outside to call my mum and be like 'mum...fuckkkk' lol.
So that sucked. I basically just sat in the front room really horrified and kind of shocked. It was weird because I barely wanted to be in the house. I just opened the front door and kind of hung in the opening. People were coming past and my neighbours arrived home, but I just felt it would be a bit weird and silly to tell them that I was shit scared and some weird coincidences had befallen me.
Conclusion: so I actually took a while to build up the courage to go upstairs (I know ridiculous right) and get all my stuff, and threw it into my bro's car. And I plugged my gf's address into the GPS. I've just passed my test (less than 10 drives alone) but I was so desperate to get away from my house that I was prepared to drive on the motorway for the first time, and what's more in the dark. So you can imagine my pulse was racing the whole time. I don't think I've ever been more uncomfortable save for in a nightmare.
Anyway I'd like to get you guys' opinions on what the hell you would do in my shoes...

Have you watched some horror movie that day?
Because apart from that, I see no reason to be scared of anything you wrote. If anything I would be raging alone that everything was going wrong for me.
|
No horror movies!
I am definitely of a nervous disposition when home alone. But that damn 666 was too much for me. I had one of these reactions:

If you are being haunted, maybe it's by the ghost of some really attractive female? Don't assume the worst.
It isn't cheating if she doesn't physically exist.

I have anxiety, so take my answer with a grain of salt...
I would probably leave, too. Being home alone at night has always left me on edge (dates back to when I was babysitting and a couple of drunk teenagers thought it would be funny to see if they could get in any of the houses and went up my entire alley before getting caught XD).
I doubt it's anything really creepy, but there's the fact that you're "edgy" and the effect that'll have on you, to consider, too. Like... once that adrenaline starts, everything gets bigger and scary. Fear feeds on itself.
I wouldn't stay away for more than a night (or two, so long as your dad doesn't have any pets), but I think it's a good idea to leave a house where you're staying alone with no phone service (even if the reason for that is a mundane glitch in the landlines and your cell). lol
|
Spooked. I'd leave.
I have incredibly low tolerance for spooky things though.
|
I would've left the house by now if I were you, but I'm a little girl. GL and be careful on the road.
|
The most logical next move would be to get your GF over and perform a séance.
Edit- as horror movie logic goes.

Truer words have never been said!

How/where did you disconnect the doorbell? If it's going off randomly and your phones out the wiring might be crossed somewhere.
/logic attempt
but yeah ur house is probably haunted n shit

I didn't know doorbells can physically malfunction like that? =\
|
yea.... my guess is it's a hilarious prank by daddy

Lol funny poll, don't believe in any of that shite so just ignore it and move on. Unfortunately you'll be looking for any resemblance of the number 666 now an it will come up a few times.
Just have your gf comfort you

Someone is fucking with you. The 666 gives it away.

1/3 of TL sympathises with me, 2/3 thinks I'm a monumental pussy.
I can live with that ratio. It's certainly me overreacting to some bullshit coincidences, but god damn. Shitty time to have such coincidences occurring!

Who could be doing that...like I say my dad and brother are across the world. o.O

I think it was all a subtle brag about how you've gotten your driver's license and can now drive on the motorway at night

So do you actually believe in ghosts and hauntings and shit?

waiting for more updated events this is getting interesting...

I'd 110%, not a shadow of a doubt in my mind, stay there and have some fun with the demon in my house. I mean, how often do you get to meet with a horrific, unnaturally strong monster from the depths of hell? I could learn and experience so much that so few people get the opportunity to do. Of course, if that fucker goes full poltergeist on me and starts flinging knives around, I'm out. I'm curious, not crazy.

I am a big fan of a podcast called Mysterious Universe, basically covers everything from haunting, to aliens, to people that even guys who do a podcast on the supernatural consider crazy. Example of crazies in spoilers below. I take most of it with a grain of salt myself but you may be interested in poking around their site a bit.
This title of this video btw is: UFO Sightings 12 Year Old Builds Communication Device Speaks With Interdimensional Beings! + Show Spoiler +

Funny I am crazy, while no knives started flinging around, things did start falling off shelves and disappear only to reappear in the exact place I left them days later. We'd see shadows moving (as in my entire family so I know it wasn't me being skitso or something) past door ways and in the hall. Didn't matter if someone else was home with me or someone was alone, weird shit like that always happens. The worst thing that has ever happened was when I was 13 and watching cartoon network on TV home alone and I heard a girls scream from inside my house. Which is odd considering I have no sisters and was home alone. That was the only time I went "fuck this" and went outside and waited for my parents to get home. Every other time I would taunt what ever was there by yelling about how I'm not it's maid and I'm not gonna clean up it's messes anymore and then go back to watching TV or playing video games.

No I don't. But I also am not 100% sure. So I don't feel absolutely nothing when bizarre coincidences occur just at the right time when I am on my own for them to have maximum impact in freaking me out.
|
I don't like horror as a form of entertainment, but witnessing and even dying through unnatural means would be the greatest thing ever, so I don't get why you are freaking out. Chances are it's all a coincidence or a bunch of ninjas are trying to make you shit your pants.

From all the ero-manga I've read I'd say this is about 95% likely if there is a ghost.
|
yeah maybe when you are ready to die but I'm not ready to die so that advice does not comfort me though thanks for the attempt lol!!!

Dude, 666 isn't even a real thing. Do you believe in gremlins and the tooth fairy too?
There is a plausible explanation for everything you wrote.
|
I know, I know. Just sometimes you can't let your rational mind assuage your fears. IN the same way if you are afraid of heights you can't just easily use your mind to cancel it. I never specifically said like my house is haunted or any shit. I just said, three coincidences happening at the same time just as I am home alone...nah sorry not for me, I'm the hell out of here.

You can't really say you don't believe in them if you react like that :/

I would drop to my knees and beg the lord to not let satan drag my soul down to his fiery lair..
Or just man up ofcourse.

How old is the house? what's it's history?

I have no idea of either of these things but I wouldn't say it's that old :/
