Well, a Coxswain isn't actually a rank, it is more of a function. It means that as long as we are on board the landing vessel, you are in command, even if a higher ranking officer is on board.
You can have a rank in addition to that, how about Junior Assistant Engineer Third Class?
And yeah, i have had this problem with some weird alien bugs eating off my leg. Then i had to go into debt to regrow it, because apparently the Galactic Scouts of the third Great and Bountiful Human Empire let you pay for that yourself if you get hurt in the line of duty.
Other than that, ~16 years ago i got abducted by some guys in a space ship from my home planet which had regressed to pre-jump technology. I was a pretty good horse trader there. You could have been involved in that event if you want to. I think they might have been some frat boys or something, i thought they were scientists at first, but apparently they were pretty bad at sciencing, had ship shares randomly lying about, and might have been doing the whole thing just as a practical joke.

I think that's probably a sufficiently long and fancy name. It could use some senior and first class and such, but I guess I'll take it.
More: If you want to involve me in any of your events I'm a former industrial mechanic/worker guy who stole industry secrets for Finn's Sir Donald (trying a career as a thief), got caught and fired, became a drifter scavenger guy in space, got jettisoned after a pirate fight (but remembers little of that event), got picked up and saved by Sven's O'Fallahan guy, got drafted by the marines, where some (of my) bad decisions got some people killed and me fired again. I mostly blame the system and other player characters for any mishaps in my life. :D

Alright, I've just completed building the Subsector, without further adieu here is the system map:
I have also made a spreadsheet of all of the information the scouts currently have on the sector (Gonzo would have access to this, so by proxy so do the rest of you), y'all can ask for permission to edit the document, because as information on planets updates (perhaps due to your actions), or when you discover new planets, you'll need a place to write such data down. I'll post it below and remember if you want editing abilities, you have to request them: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18joSwds7aRjFZqqIeEatZdxpWLxM_umNSK7AyZz_RDg/edit#gid=0

Its called having applicable skills you dirty hobo.
|
Holy shit, that's a lot of things! I am impressed.

That's my argument. I have plenty of those, you cock swine. You should be agreeing with me that Sir Donald doesn't deserve a higher pay than the rest of us.
|
Dont you call me cock swine you coxswain. And im planning on earning those extra shares with my applicable skills.
|
Ok, two silly questions:
a) How do i request permission to edit the thingy?
b) How far can we jump in one jump, and where are we at the start of the game?
Edit: Oh, and did we get a target for our job?
|
Also what exactly do we need to do? Scout for civilisation, determine if the planet is habitable, scan the ground for precious metals, all of the above?
|
Access request pops up when I go File->Share.

a) Sign in to your google account, click the share button in the top right, click request access.
b) Your ship (Scout, Type S) has a Jump-2 drive, this means that you can jump two parsecs in each jump, each hex is one parsec. A jump takes about a week (148+6d6 hours to be exact, and no I don't roll that), so all jump drives are measured in how many parsecs they can jump, not how long they are in transit. At the start of the game you are all in the system Hechi (Hex 0202), in a large scout base that is the base of scout operations for this subsector.
I'm going to start you guys off hanging out in Hechi, so you can get some human interaction before heading to SF-0402 with Doctor Jefri Haut-Oschem, where you guys will help him with his science stuff you'll learn about later.

You guys can do whatever you want! If you're asking for how to get the missing information, I'd suppose the easiest way to do that would be to head to unexplored sectors yourself. Even if you don't, there are other scouts scouting the sector as we speak, I'm sure as things progress some interesting information might appear in the log as other scouts explore the various systems. EDIT: Just make sure to head to a system that has is in the communication routes, so you can pick up the latest data from the X-Boat network.

I'd love some bond that'll get me at least ANY kind of gun proficiency, right now I have some cool gun grown from human bones, but no idea how to use it.
I'm from a high tech asteroid cruising around the frindges of the empire, unless Jack changed that. :D
As for my history, it's laughably hard to bomb out of being a physician (you need a 4+ Edu roll to stay in) so I only failed once, but luckily managed to merely tank my social status due to some experiments on xenos, one of which dared to escape and slander me to the press, the fool! I also pretty much advanced every time, but one and chose to inject Anagathics to stay at the tender age of 34 forever. Apart from that, nothing extraordinary happened, iirc. I learned way too much about computers, since I can't roll anything but 3s and managed to obtain a mistress, as well as the sizeable part of a lab ship due to getting lucky on my benefit rolls. I suppose being a doctor does pay quite well, after all.
To round this off a nice tidbit from Jack's and mine conversation while I was looking over the equipment list.
Me: Ohhhh, I want a laser pistol! Jack: Bla bla your character isn't in the military, so you wouldn't have access to military weapons. (What a fool!) Me: How about a gauss gun then, it's in the same chart as all the other slug throwers after all. Jack: Nope. You can have anything but laser and gauss guns. Me: *jumps in joy* How about this briefcase nuke then? Jack: .....
|
Also Jack, can I buy some gear from the equipment book?
|
Why does that sound so sinister coming from you?
Or, better question: How many solar systems are the save distance?
|
Oh, please. You can't tell me that you wouldn't want a double magazin shotgun assault revolver or something called an inferno gun.
In addition, we should totally kit our grav float out with some of this rad gear I found, you never know what kind of scary monsters we are going to encounter on that uncharted planet we're visiting.
|
This gear book is pretty cool, it also ads lots of different kinds of armour, so it isn't just either light armour and LOL 3.5 million creds battledress. For those of us who don't liketo lose their legs.
|
We commented on that as well. Stuff mostly costs next to nothing or is completely insanely expensive.
|
Also if it's okay with you guys I think even after this next meeting we should keep the meeting day on Saturday, as I get my work schedule week-by-week, it is posted every thursday, and the work week is sunday-saturday, so if we have the meeting on Saturdays I will know if I can't make it 7-9 days in advance, as opposed to 2-3.
|
Jack stop dodging my question. :D
|
As i said, i am generally fine with saturdays, except for the forth saturday in a month, in which case i'd prefer sunday. Otherwise, i don't really care if its saturday or sunday.
Also, considering what you did with brightfire, i am not convinced Lucas should be allowed anywhere near something called an inferno gun. I am pretty sure giving him access to that kind of weaponry counts as a war crime.
|
Lucas you're a doctor not a soldier, oh and did you remember to apply your 27,500cr debt to your funds?
