The more I am thinking about it, capturing a space station, setting it up as our homebase and offering its services to all sorts of people who are coming along (think merchants, explorerers, pirates) seems like a pretty fun thing to do.

The forklift probably has a fancy atomic drive, golden rimmed thruster bits, a jacuzzi, lasers, a fridge and fireworks. That, or it's indeed pretty shitty, since the pirates left it behind.

I wouldn't mind running a maintenance space station though. I'm imagining a land of milk and honey where pay grade and rank is based on merit and lawfulness and personal hygiene is entirely optional.

You are kind of missing the point where none of us actually has a space station, and it is REALLY HARD to steal one since they are kind of immobile and everyone knows where to find it.

Maybe if we find a quantum space hole generator in the caverns below 0402, we can steal one.

We could for example obtain a pocket nuke, threaten to blow it up, have all the merchants flee in panic and then overwhelm the remaining security guards.

Good plan. We only need to get a pocket nuke, smuggle it onto a station, not get shot to pieces by the guards. This leaves us with a woefully understaffed station we can not afford to maintain and where noone would want to come because we scared them away with nukes earlier.

And 2 weeks later we get slaughtered by the Imperial Marines in Battledresses.

Ok, ok, i have one:

We offer free drinks at the entrance, and then lead them for an hour long chase through the station. Then we hide in the bathroom, and as soon as they inevitably have to go, we just grab their battledress while they are on the toilet.
