Well, not exactly. I've beaten the campaign and played multiplayer a little bit beforehand, but this is my first time actually trying to improve my game in Starcraft. I'm just going to write about my experiences as I try to improve as a player so that I can keep motivating myself to keep getting better!
So, I load up SC2, and since I play Terran, I was reading up a bit on the Terran mechanics improvement guide. I disabled a few unnecessary features of the game, and was ready to play (I also changed my game to the Korean sounds just for fun ^^). I load up the ladder and the first match I play is a TvT on Shakuras. I'm playing the game as standard as I can with my Gold level mechanics and my next to none understanding of the game, and eventually, the game ends up being kind of a stalemate situation. And then, I got impatient and decided to break his tank line with Marines and my own tanks and I just lose. What I should have done is utilized some drops, because when I did those he seemed to be very distracted and that might have given me an opportunity to win the game. I see his is platinum league, no biggie.
The next game is another TvT, this time on Cloud Kingdom. I open up with standard play, and scout a 3 depot wallin in his main. I also scout around the low ground by my natural and see that he is 2raxing me. That's okay. I build a bunker, get seige tanks out, break his contain, and he leaves without the gg D:
Game 3 is a TvZ on Ohana. He went for Roaches, I responded with some Marauder and Tank play, but what I should have done at that point was go in for some damage. I let the game go very passively, and I'm not good enough to be able to take bases while attacking, so I just stayed in my base. Eventually he gets total map control, but I still feel like I'm in a good place, I have a maxed out Tank/Marine/Viking army with 3/3 infantry ups. But then we have a fight, and it kinda goes ok, he loses his lings and infestors, but his broodlords come and clean me up, and then he just goes Broodlord/Corrupter and I felt like there was just nothing I could do. His Broodlords only had 1/0 ups, and they just raped me and I felt really bad because I thought I could have pulled a win from that. I'm definitely going to seek for some help on this one.
I had a few games where my keyboard stopped working so I had to exit immediately D: but then finally Game 4 starts. Game 4 was a TvT on Tal'Darim. We both open up pretty standard, midgame is pretty even, some harass going back and forth, and then I decide to engage, and I thought I could win, but for some reason I lost. I felt like I had more marines and my tanks were seiged while his weren't, but for some reason his unseiged tanks did so much damage to my army, and I couldn't hold his next push and eventually lose the game. Looking through the replay, I was ahead in resources but my macro is awful so I was floating like 1k in both so if I had spent those resources I probably could have won.
Game 5 is TvP on Cloud Kingdom, he cannon rushes, I hold it off with ease, he transitions to 1 base DT's, once again I hold and win.
So I guess a general theme for the day is that the longer a game goes, the harder it is for me to win it. I have problems macro'ing and remembering to build things while battles are going on, and I'm also scared of expanding for fear of being able to hold many bases. I'm terrified of Mutalisk packs because even turrets can't do a thing against a pack of 12-15 Muta's, so I never feel safe leaving my base because I think I'll die if I do.
Learning when I'm safe and when I'm not is something I'm going to have to work on. I need to work on spending my resources in longer games and managing my bases. I also need to build more production facilities so I can spend more money.
Even though my first day of my Starcraft journey had a lot of losses, it was very fun and I'm going to keep a positive attitude while trying to improve!
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this!

That is the general theme of Terran. You want to end the game in the midgame. Don't let Taeja and MVP fool you, Terran is in a terrible state right now. Your best bet is to win asap because the late game will destroy you.
As for TvT's. TvT is my favorite matchup to watch and my least favorite to play. It is actually the reason I switched from Terran. It seriously feels like the first one to move loses.

Hey, I'm going to save you some trubble down the road :D. There is no reason to play standard always, if you find yourself in tank/marine stalemates often, and dont want to continue this, you could try Thor/BC, using ur minerals for more CC's and hellions. This worked all the way up to mid masters for me, as a fun way to mix it up! (Otherwise, good read, gl hf!)

Please do not listen to crap like this, do your utmost to improve all aspects of your play, including late-stage macro and multitasking. This type of thought is poison to productivity.

You'll have a better chance getting to masters bunker rushing as opposed to going standard all the time.

I don't really care about my rating though I just want to try my best to become a good player ^^
I could cheese every game but I would have less fun and I would learn less than if I just play standard, I feel!
Maybe Terran isn't the best race, but blaming things other than yourself is the fastest way to stop improving, so I'm just going to say that I need to work on my mechanics, timings and game sense, because if those things were at a higher level, I could have won all 3 of those losses ^^

That's a good thing to think. For starters balance complaining or anything is worthless when you are not at the top level of play. When a low/mid masters player complains about balance it's really laughable because balance isn't why he's losing. Don't let anyone fool you.
You have a lot to improve obviously for being in gold league but don't lose this value!
As for your keyboard not working have you tried retabbing your game and it work? I know sometimes when I ladder my keyboard won't work and I just tab out and back in and it works.

Also, it was an issue with my alt-key sticking on my keyboard for 2 games ): I realized it in a AI game afterwards xD it's okay though, no biggie ^^

This is exactly the right attitude. At lower levels the lategame is a lot easier to win in, so you shouldn't be deterred from trying to get to it. Also remember to watch all the replays where you lose to find mistakes that you can improve on in future games.

Gold protoss here, if you want to just practice PvT (any stage of the game) I'll be a willing practice partner ^^ I could use improvement.
