its not about having fun for the most part. Its more about the competitive edge that keep people in each esports title. Every decent FPS players out there would rather play CS1.6 over CS:S any time just simply bc it is a much better game competitive wise. Sure all the graphic are prettier in CS:S but the game is shit to play it at top level.
Same thing is being applied to LoL: skill bar is much lowered compare to DotA (and starcraft) which make it much more enjoyable to play but the game should not be taken as serious as people treating it right now at top nouch level. You can basicly play WoW for your whole life, start playing LoL for 3 months and get into a pro team pretty fast. Next thing you know, my friends is taking games off sponsor players in major tournaments.
For a lot of people, if there is no competitive edge, they would rather go play single player games such as portal or Mario and still have as much fun. I am one of those.

No.
Almost every thread, if not every thread outside the LoL section that is about LoL or mentions LoL get's invaded by Dota fanboys. Often they openly bash it, sometimes they use subtle insults either towards the game or the population that plays it. (Like you did in that post.)
Funnily enough, the reverse almost never happens. I wonder why that is.
I've seen it so often that it got to the point that I really started to dislike the Dota 2 TL community. As a person who plays and enjoys both games, when it comes to TL I strictly stick to reading LoL forum.
The REAL question is, why are Dota players so aggressive?

Goes like this
Person A likes LoL Person B(Starcraft fan) dislikes Lol, claims its too casual and boring farmfests, calls it Moba(thus lumping LoL and Dota together) Person C(Dota fan) then says, if its too casual and boring farmfests how about Dota.
Pointless arguments everywhere
It probably has something to do with the elitism on TL, goes like BW>SC2>Dota2>LoL.

It's just easier to be good at LoL.
If you're under masters or diamond then I'm not surprised that you enjoy LoL more, because you can't even understand sc2 yet ^_^
I enjoy playing sc2 more than anything, probably largely because I can play it at a relatively okay level. I love playing bio in tvz too :D

I love playing bio in tvz too :D I dunno, I was a bottom-tier masters and it took me a lot longer to be at a comparable skill level at LoL. (arguably I'm still not.) Different game, different mechanics, different decision making. It's just different.
Don't like dota 2. Feels like I'm playing a 5 year old game (I did play some dota back then.) and the interface bugs me way too much. LoL's isnt exactly perfect, but it doesn't grate on me in the same way.
Also, TL's LoL community is pretty good guys, even if they ALWAYS AFK.

Don't see why it is a problem having fun with a game. If you aren't having fun playing sc 2 then don't play it. If LoL is fun for you to play then play it. Personally i'm not a big moba games fan. But I feel like this idea that it is wrong to play games we think are fun that you are having is silly. Like heck I quit playing SC 2, watching streams and tournaments for like a month because I was bored, just to play mass effect 2 and 3.

Last January I came back for a week to play some SC2 after almost a year long hiatus. I lost all my placement matches on purpose and went on a 30-0 winning streak playing people who claimed to be ''high diamonds'' while still being in Gold league. The messages I got from players after they lost to me were hilarious. I made it to masters and dropping only a few games beforehand. I was high diamond when it was still the best league. (Back when I was still active.)
SC2 isn't hard unless you play it at the highest level. Same goes for LoL. Problem is people have this really bad mentality going into SC2, thinking it's a hard game with demanding mechanics, while it's really not. I coached 2 of my IRL friends into Diamond (again, when it was the best league) in less then a month.
I currently get more enjoyment out of LoL and Dota since I generally speaking like team games more than solo games.

How did I use a "subtle insult" in my post? No one who has played both games would ever try to make the case that LoL is more mechanically demanding, since that would be a downright lie. As for my comment om complex team setups, that wasn't a jab at LoL, but more a comment on the fact that in LoL 1-1-2-jungle is such an extremely common lineup, while it's a bit more mixed up in Dota 2 with trilanes etc.
If you weren't so defensive, you wouldn't find "subtle insults" in every post mentioning Dota 2.

. I haven't had this much fun since the ol' CoD WaW/MW2 days where we had a bunch of friends playing that too
What are you, 12?
But any game is a billion times more fun while playing with friends, even if the game is complete garbage.
Like borderlands...

Who cares about skill ceiling and all that elitist nonsense when 99+% will not play at the highest level and MOBA games are in general terrible to watch as a esport?
I think people around here forget that games are... well, that, games. They're supposed to be fun first and foremost. LoL is certainly less complex than the other MOBAs but it's hardly lacking any sort of skill or competitive aspect. Start playing LoL without having a clear understanding of the game and you'll get destroyed again and again, the same that in SC2.
This is all just silly nerd elitism of "my game is better than yours", they're all just games, just play whatever the hell you enjoy.

Sound like friends is the main thing to take from your experience. I know games are 10x better and more fun with friends for me anyways.

Funny.
Like I said in my post, go read up on LoL related posts in anywhere except LoL section and you will see Dota players invading and more often then not bashing it.
Me calling Dota players aggressive was simply a response to him calling LoL players defensive. Both are true, but also what's true is the constant bashing of LoL in these forums, which has caused LoL players to become defensive.
And it's also pure stupidity to make the claim that LoL players would for some reason be more aggressive then Dota players. It's simply not true. But I can agree with that others, including myself, have become more defensive due to the constant bashing and spreading of mis-information regarding LoL. ''LoL is pay 2 win'' ''LoL only gets high viewer amounts because it has it's stream embedded into the client so everyone who is online will count as a viewer''. Those are just a few examples of things that have been circling around these forums.
Though at the same time I have seen some improvement, mainly due to the fact that numerous pros are swapping over to LoL, I'd say.

What turned me away, however, was the pay-to-win aspect, and the constant balance patches that change the meta game much too drastically. aaaand i'm a grognard and prefer dota ![](/mirror/smilies/puh2.gif) but to each his own. glad you're having fun. And be sure to try out dota once it is released! There is no pay to win in LoL. That's the entire premise of a competitive F2P game's success (read Riot Gaming). You buy cosmetics or conveniences only. And yes, I agree LoL is a lot of fun. I too was initially turned off by the game until a couple friends insisted I play more than a paltry amount of games. *edited clarity Rune pages. I love League and I like playing it more than SC2, but a large part of that is because I already burned out on playing Brood War and I'm older and slower. RTS is a young man's game. You need to pay ~60 bucks to even have a shot at winning anything in SC2. Pay the same money on LoL, spend it wisely and you're well equipped for 1st place on the ladder. Aside from the stuff that you can't buy with money of course. I'm even pretty sure there are or at least have been plenty of people in top ladder positions with as little as 2-3 runepages and a very limited champion pool. Not a dime spent for that. And I'm not just talking about pro players.

You better are able to provide proof for that or stop spewing nonsense. LoL is pretty damn spectator friendly (I got into it by watching streams without any prior knowledge about the genre at all) and fun to watch. (Personally can't say the same for DotA2 and HoN though, I still have trouble following these even though I know the genre pretty damn well now.)

I think SC2 sucks. BW is dead.
The only alternative is DOTA or League of Legends, and since I've given up on diehard BW-trying, clearly I have to use my 300 APM in LoL! \o/

I enjoyed the hell out of MW2 as well. I had two groups of around 10 friends with some overlap that would always try to get into parties of six, and we were guaranteed to have a ton of fun whenever that happened. Sometimes we did stupid shit like killing ourselves right at the start of the round to piss off the other team, sometimes we just hid and waited for them to find us, other times we tried to go on really long win streaks (this is all in Search and Destroy). I think we got something insane like 30 games in one night. One group was really into quick-scoping, and it was actually fun to play competitive matches against other teams. I think the problem that most people that are too "hardcore" for the game is that they take it too seriously (not nearly as competitive as CS, blah blah) or that they aren't playing with a good group of friends. The game isn't meant to be truly competitive just like checkers isn't, but it can still be a lot of fun. I did hate playing without friends most of the time, though.

LoL/DotA completely destroy SC2 in the social gameplay department, and that is a pretty important thing, even if, from a sheer gameplay perspective SC2 is better.
