The only reason I didn't enjoy my SC experience as much as my LoL(CURRENTLY, i feel like i'm gonna get tired of this game soon, but never tired of SC2 cus every single game is unique) right now is probably because SC2 was waaay too pressuring for me.
I made masters but I had a really bad ladder anxiety, and theres also the factor of having to have your mind pace everywhere. But really I feel like SC2 > LoL which is why I came to this forums.

If you don't buy champions or tier1/tier2 runes, you have enough IP to complete a runepage around level 20 (though you can only do so at 30 when all slots are unlocked). A few weeks ago i spent about 2 weeks grinding games for IP and then had all my 10 runepages completed for every character i'm likely to play (Tank/AP/AD/AS/Support), took me about 100-150 games.

Been playing since beta and I still love the game. Come check out the forum on the left hand side under sports and games .
Also buy t1 runes, they're about 40-60% as effective as t3s and you can get a full page for like 1000 ip (4-5 games).

I'm glad you included that you enjoy COD/MW2 because for a second I thought it might actually be plausible that LoL was fun.

LoL is insanely fun. If you don't think so you probably haven't played enough to get a good handle on the mechanics and general rules. It's like trying to play a game of monopoly without understanding how to buy houses.

What does me liking MW2 have to do with anything? Oh wait, you're probably one of those that thinks they're better than other gamers because they only like "hardcore" or "underground" games. Get lost.

Im personally think that Dota 2 is a much better game but I agree that it is overwhelming for new players to get into without any help. I think LoL players looking for something more should try to move on to Dota 2 but I understand LoL is casual enough to be fun and relaxing.
But yes, SC2 has just been overtaken by other titles (mainly dota 2) imo, at least in terms of spectator entertainment.

But yes, SC2 has just been overtaken by other titles (mainly dota 2) imo, at least in terms of spectator entertainment. For viewing entertainment, I tend to feel that MOBAs are inadequate for the same reason that they're good for casual play: they're just much simpler than an RTS. Of course, in terms of audience numbers they'll do well anyway because a large population of player translates directly into a lot of viewers, even if the spectating experience isn't quite as good.

I also played LoL for quite some times after quitting with SC2. I found it being really fun to play even in soloqueue, but then i got a DotA2 key and i switched game asap. I suggest to the LoL players to try DotA2 and see if you like it. It's a little bit more complex but still fun to play, also you don't have to pay for heroes . Don't get me wrong, I think that LoL is a great game but I don't like Riot business model. They are pretty much pumping out every week a new OP hero, and for new players it's really impossible to unlock all of them without paying with real money and even then you will spend quite a lot of money.
|
Yeah, MOBAs with a full team of friends can be really fun, at least if the mentality is right. You either need for everyone in the team to be casual, or competitive. If your team has some competitive players, it quickly becomes a whiny atmosphere when the casual players mess up etc. Also, being of a competitive mindset can really set you back if you're not very good at the game.
Like Blitzer, I recommend people who like LoL to try Dota 2. Not just a game, but really sit down and try it. Dota 2 is way more heavy on mechanics and has some crazy complexity with team setups which I think a lot of LoL people would find superior if they actually tried it for 10 games or so.

Why does every thread about LoL get invaded by people saying "DotA2 is better. Try DotA2"? Seriously, guys... The OP didn't mention DotA2 in any word, no reason to bring it up here...

Have you watched some recent Dota 2 tournaments? I have a few games on the top of my head that might just change your mind. And I think you might be surprised at just how much strategy and tactics are involved in top tier games.

Maybe because SC:BW was one of the most demanding, high-ceiling skilled games ever. SC2 is not on that level but good enough nonetheless. Both games reward constant practice to overcome a sharp learning curve which shares more similarities with Dota 2 than with LoL (in the minds of those advocating Dota 2). This is TL after all.

The reason why Dota is brought up a lot is because the vast majority of LoL players are casual gamers who might not even know about Dota and how it differs, while they might very well enjoy it.

tl;dr playing games with friends is fun

I hated logging on to SC2 and it felt like a ghost town, where you would just grind out 1v1's against faceless opponents. But no more!
TL;DR: Don't be like me, don't be biased against a game you haven't played yet, you could be really missing out! The following is my opinion: - The game is shit. - Playing with friends is fun. - Try playing without any of your friends, just strangers, for a week, and you'll go back to realizing it's ... a shit game. - It's still fun to play with friends though. Regardless of game. I've had tons of fun playing with RL friends in games I thought sucked - it was still great fun playing with friends.

Like others have said, you like the game because you play with RL friends, gaming doesn't get better than that.
I tried LoL myself 2 months ago and I enjoyed my first few games a lot, but I played those games with friends. As soon as I played some games by myself, I quickly realized the game is not bad per se, but other games (like SC2) are much better and way more fun to play alone.

I really disagree here.
I have a way easier time teaching someone the basics of SC2 or even BW than the basics of DotA / League, simply because smaller things matter earlier and there is more basic knowledge that you need to learn.
On a higher level (solo q is a different game) the coordination required between teammates again introduces much more variables that SC2 doesn't have. It's really, really hard to argue that one of the genres is "simpler".
Edit: What's without ANY discussion great about League of Legends though is that it has the best subforum on TL. Period. ♥

also, the second post in the thread is like "i got burned out by LoL because its 30 minute farmfest into teamfight into end".
dota is extremely unlike that for 99% of the games, so it's an alternative that many people might want to try if they like games of this genre.

i wish i had friends or practice partners to play with on sc2 TT; forever alone practicing ....
