So, with the recent patch to Starcraft 2, I think it's abundantly clear that SOMEONE out there is bribing Blizzard to influence the direction the game takes.
You're probably thinking to yourself "Blizzard/Activision makes tons of money, why would they need bribes?" Well, in some recently released financial reports, Blizzard/Activision is looking for some ways to increase their income.
As for the company's actual financial figures, revenues and net profit both surpassed projections set in February, but fell short of the company's performance for the same quarter last year. For the quarter, Activision posted sales of $1.17 billion, down year-over-year from $1.45 billion. It also chalked up $384 million in net income, down from $503 million for the same period last year.
The biggest question though, is who is on the giving end?
The Suspects:
KeSPA Yesterday during the SK Planet Proleague Media Day some thoughts were gathered from the Brood War team coaches about the acclimation to Starcraft 2. Overall, the news was positive, but there were repeated concerns raised about the state of the Zerg in Wings of Liberty.
Han Sang Yong (Eight): Some tried at first, but they ran into tough match-ups so they reverted. Zerg players are having a hard time, so they are considering changing.
S2: I'm not at the skill level to talk balance, but all the races seem good except Zerg.
Light: I think Zerg looks the weakest, and Terran is a race that looks strong when played well. However, I haven't reached that level yet, and TvP is a bit hard. Is it a coincidence that in the time span of a day some major buffs come Zerg's way? I think not. However, KeSPA might not be the only group behind this.
Evil Geniuses You shouldn't be surprised they made it on this list. They are after all, both Evil and Genius. With one of their premier players and icons, IdrA, showing results below his capacity lately, perhaps Alex G and his henchmen have decided to take it upon themselves to help him get back in his groove. To counteract the global effect however, they decided to get a spy, in the form of Markus "EGThorZain" Eklof into the same house as MMA, a player notorious for his artful ability to dismantle even the best Zergs. Between the strengthening of the Zerg race, and the inside information to know exactly what Terrans are plotting to combat this should give IdrA the boost he needs to return to his top form. Of course, the drawing board is still blank on figuring out how to get him to beat Protoss.
Stephano I don't need to say much here. He was considering backing out of Professional StarCraft 2 for medical school, but SOMETHING convinced him to stay for another year. Perhaps something like promised advantages and a GSL Code S seed? I think so.
Quantic Gaming This is, in my opinion, the most likely suspect in this case. In a surprise move last week, Quantic Gaming absorbed the whole of Team Vile, including young breakout Terran Star, Chris "QuanticIllusion" Lee. What everyone failed to take note of though, is that also on the roster is Michael "QuanticSpanishiwa" Yabut. The infamous North American Zerg player who had a meteoric rise to popularity before he decided to stop playing in order to focus on school. Now, as many StarCraft players know, the school year is coming to an end and you're all dealing with terrible, terrible finals. Mr. Yabut, however, is most likely gearing up to play some serious Starcraft again. What better way to hype his return than to massively increase the effectiveness of the unit that got him so famous? Before you go jumping to tell me Quantic doesn't have that kind of influence, let me spell it out for you. NaNiWa is arguably one of the hottest foreigners in the scene right now, and with the entire foreign community dreading the day that FlaSh learns exactly how good Marines are, Blizzard is anxious to throw it's weight behind any foreign star they can. Quantic was probably able to leverage their control over NaNiWa's secret girlfriend, Flo "QuanticFlo" Yao, to bend him to use his influence to benefit Quantic's mastermind scheme.
Poll: Who is behind the bribes?Evil Geniuses (39) 65% Stephano (9) 15% KeSPA (8) 13% Quantic (4) 7% 60 total votes Your vote: Who is behind the bribes? (Vote): KeSPA (Vote): Evil Geniuses (Vote): Stephano (Vote): Quantic
Now, naturally I don't want to go accusing anyone of anything, I just thought this was a serious issue that needed to be brought to attention.+ Show Spoiler +If you didn't guess by now, none of this is actually serious, and if you think otherwise I advise you take off the tinfoil hat and seek medical help.

Only a group of evil geniuses could concoct such a nefarious scheme.

Stephano is always behind evil in esports...

This thread could have been legendary. Admin should move it to sc2 general instead of blogs to generate more fun.
If it was there instead of blogs then I would seriously have to go get some popcorn.

Evil Geniuses have to be it

hot_bid is clearly the one behind this, expect the Hydraroach in HotS!

Guys who think this is serious: I have a large clock to sell you. It's at the top of a Tower in London, next to this really old looking building on the riverside. For a million pounds, it's all yours!

You might want to take off the tinfoil hat once in awhile. All that aluminum is soaking into your head.

5-stared for the Stephano paragraph.

EG? lol
How about SavioR? He shall rise once again! MUAHAHAHAHA

Maybe I'm just pissed and not in mood for cheesy jokes because I slept for 1 hour today but in my honest opinion this would be funny if the patch involved something more than overlord speed. Come did you read the patch notes at all? On the second thought I don't mean to ruin your fun with my negativism but I just can't force myself to laugh, sorry fellow users.

Follow the money guys. Article leaves out one important option though, collective of zerg players pooling their prize money.
|
Please add a poll option for "aliens".
Clearly they are supporting these patch changes to piss off the world's nerds so much that they will be distracted and the aliens can invade Earth without the fear of a Jeff Goldblum character countering it by writing a computer virus.

KeSPA. It's always KeSPA.

Chill. He was told to GTFO and now that we have welcomed him back he has come back to get his revenge. Prepare to begin watching games showing zerg owning on ice maps. Lots and LOTS of ice maps....

I happen to like my tinfoil hat sir but I think its KeSPA obviously.

Evil geniuses, duh. You can tell from the name alone that they are up to no good.

Don't attribute to malice what can also be attributed to ignorance.

I'm not saying it was aliens... + Show Spoiler +
Also, I think you're missing the most likely single person. Who is a prominent Zerg, with the money to be able to influence SC2 individual developers? Maybe from winning a lot of money, and multiple GSLs? Someone who might be considered a Professor of sorts? EG is just a red herring. Look for some kind of miracle bringing the Zerg back to prominence.
I... wait, there's a knock on my door.
Hey, someone sent me a cake shaped like a baneling, that's so cu

EG is the source of all dirty cash, why even ask? Obviously the real people in charge of esports.
|
OP is too cheesy for me but some responses in this thread crack me up :D

Evil Geniuses, hiding in plain sight! It's pure genius... but evil...

Observer buff was clearly the work of the Super PAC(protoss action committee) Americans for an easier race tomorrow, today. They are hoping to use the momentum from observer buff into maphack for next patch. Just in time for the upcoming new protoss president election.

Guys, it's the TL admins. They've been using the tears of... everybody as fuel for a new kind of technology where they can become one with the secret elephant hiveminds that come out of the holes in my monitor.
They're watching me now. The elephant hivemind, I mean, not the admins. Although *looks around and viciously scratches scalp* you never know, you know?

At first I was like wtf? Then I looked at who was posting it and instantly knew it was a troll lol.

It's obviously Quantic. They let Evil Geniuses take the blame for it because the evil genius behind Quantic thought of a name that doesn't give away his wit and sinister plans. Among each other, they call it the Quantic Illusion.
For example: They acquire almost the entirety of NA players (totally accurate) but let E.G. take the spotlight with the acquisition of just one player (le spoon as he is called in French). Der Spoon (as he is called in German) does not even realize that he is part of the Quantic mastermind scheme.
Also, I cannot believe no one has noticed the hidden message in their name (I gues they fell for the Quantic Illusion):
Quan + titty = Quantity. Therefore: Their plan is domination through quantity (of players) and quantity of patches. Have you noticed that this patch did not undergo the usual quality assurance measures of previous patches? But guess what it did. It added to the Quantity of patches!
Quantic even hints at how the grand scheme will come into fruition AND IT WILL HAPPEN IN 2012. This one was a hard one to figure out but it all makes sense now:
Quan = Rapper, also known as Don Ferquan or Clifford Peacock. What does that have to do with 2012? Go to his Wikipedia page and scroll down to Albums. You will realize that he is releasing the album "GLORIOUS STRUGGLE" in 2012! This means the Quantic Illusion will soon not be an illusion anymore.
It is a Quanticking time bomb!
Quan tic tic tic ... BOOM!
I am under great danger now that I have figured out the Quantic Illusion. If this is my last post, may this knowledge live on within you.

Can anyone even question this?! *as I adjust my tinfoil hate* KeSPA is ALWAYS behind everything, watch out, they will show up in there blackhawks soon and take me away for speaking the truth!

It's obviously Deezer. That Deezer is always up to no good

Haha, I think it was a combination of all of them that brought it to blizzards attention that zerg needed a little TLC.
|
|
It was Flash.
He was all like "hey Blizzard, I really liked Brood War, but it was kinda easy. I don't suppose you could make the AI better for SC2?" to which Blizzard responded "uh, those were other people Flash, not the AI."
Undeterred, he continued on "I mean, you could like make their units a bit better? Or give them more minerals or something?" but Blizzard was stubborn "The game is balanced, just look at the ladder stats, everyone wins 50% of the time"
Eventually Flash offered his 2012 salary to them, which will allow them to make a third expansion after LotV. They just couldn't turn that much money down, and complied.

I think BboongBboongPrime has something to do with this aswell. In Off the Record he was asked which of the two zerg's left in the GSL he wanted to advance. And he said that he wanted both July and Leenock to fail so there would be a patch for zerg. He may have bribed both of them to lose in order to increase the chance of a patch. I also believe EG has a part in this aswell. Like others have mentioned, their name says it all.
