Thorzains run through TSL3 was the most memorable experience Iv ever had watching Starcraft. I remember the very start of the tournament when Thorzain was up against fruitdealer, and the poll was something like 98% in favor of fruitdealer, I almost didnt want to watch the game because i was worried it would just be a stomp. an hour later Thorzain has FD on the ropes and wont miss a single baneling mine on terminus (pretty sure it was terminus), pushing with thors to close it out. I have never been so excited watching any competition in my life, nor emotionally attached. The rest of his run was equally amazing, right up to the smash comeback against Nani. Also Goody. I don't remember much of TSL1&2, except they had the sickest production value ever for a non-live tournament: awesome music (down Down DOOOWWWN!!), drawn progamer portraits, and even hype and intro videos. Also, there were no Koreans because they would have raped too hard.

TSL 3 was great, though. Thorzain's legendary run, the Koreans getting dominated early, the amazing finals. Can't wait for the next one!

I watched a bit of TSL2 over the years (didn't see it live, at first I didn't know what it was so when it said "pokerstrategy.net" I got it into my head that it was a poker tournament with StarCraft players) I liked TSL2 because it was broodwar and a lot of great action overall, but I gotta give it to TSL3 for the plot twists. Thorzain taking out MC made me shit (I watched it on a toilet), and the finals were nothing short of amazing, with + Show Spoiler [do i need a spoiler? ah well who knows] + 3-3 first six games, and the seventh being decided in the last minute And that just overshadows the TSL2 finals, the last game in that one was shit by comparison.

Just fantastic games with epic storylines (IdrA v NonY) both for seed and in Ro8, JF coming back, Mondragon coming back and tearing into the finals; and then just insanely epic games like GosI[Terran]'s unreal hold against JF on outsider. To be honest TSL2 might be the high point of my entire starcraft viewing experience. That tournament was THAT good.

People who play SC2 watch the BW Korean pros, I don't see why they wouldn't want to see it in BW... 1) TSL2 is pretty much unanimously considered the best of the TSL (except by those who didn't see it = can be disregarded) 2) They'll be able to watch SC2 every day regardless if they choose to have TSL as SC2 or BW, it'll just be another tournament.

You also have to realize though that sc2 players don't watch foreign pro's. So sc2 players/viewers won't want to watch a tournament where they know absolutely nothing about the players. If you look at viewers for bw tournaments I don't see that many a couple thousand on the streams is all I have seen whenever I glance at the viewers for a bw foreign tournament which only makes me believe more that there is no way the sc2 community would vote for bw. I loved TSL2 as well I agree with you but if there were a vote I would be 99.9% positive sc2 would win by a landslide. If it didn't my mind would blow from shock.

TSL was a great community event, it makes a ton more sense for TSL4 to be an SC2 event...not only is there far higher SC2 viewers/fans on the site, but there is a HUGE number of way more popular/famous/well-known players in SC2 than in BW right now (no offense to BW Foreigners still playing! :D) As much as I'd love a BW TSL, without all the super famous and well-known community members playing in it (Nony, Idra, Mondragon, Iefniaj, so on) the TSL charm is kind of missing in BW-land. :D

Anyway sponsorship would be impossible to come by in my opinion, and I don't think the staff really wish it overall. And yeah, it probably wouldn't be the greatest success. That being said, I'm not sure how a SC2 TSL4 would fare either. Seems to be a really harsh competition in sc2 atm... As for a poll, depends where you post it. On the front page, bw would probably get destroyed, in blog, it would surely lose, but not that much.

What about a BW TSL All Stars then, as a separated event? Featuring Nony, Ret, Idra, Jianfei, Mondragon, White_ra so many other foreigns... and hell, we could even get Boxer, Nada and July now. Then make TSL 4 a SC2 event. We can always dream, even though it will never become true. About the poll, its kind obvious that SC2 fans will spam vote and win the poll with ease. TL population changed a lot from what it was 3 years ago...

TSL to me stands for being the lone prestigious foreign tournament.. That's how the project originally began. It would be a shame to see it just be another tournament with nothing special or particularly exciting about it. Up to TLHQ what they want it to mean from now on though, of course. Admittedly it would not be the lone, and possibly not even the most, prestigious SC2 tournament. However, part of what made TSL unique and fun for me is the way it was played out over the course of several months, the drama leading up, the ins/outs day by day of ladder qualifying, hype leading up to matches. Other tournaments like GSL have traces of this but nothing like what TSL does for me. I don't thing I have ever enjoyed an entire tournament (including OSL/MSL) more than I did TSL2 and to a lesser extent TSL3.

It's not mainly invite focused (although last TSL obviously had some) but there were still plenty of qualifiers. Now of days almost no tournaments do it like TSL1-3. There may be qualifiers for 1-2 spots but that's it. It's why I really want the TSL4, another qualifier only tournament, no invites, no special treatment, best of the best get in. The way they do it is also amazing, interviews, goes for a couple months and just so exciting. Ah how I hope TSL4 does happen though ![]()

Almost every weekend is an event, on some there are two and I dont think it`s healthy for the scene to compete too much with eachother totally disagree !!! you need the competition to keep the fighting spirit alive, to see which events remain strong, to see which events can last and keep that torch going for the SC2 scene. this is a VERY GOOD problem for SC2 !! any other gaming scene is jealous of sc2 for this very fact.

- Lag issues with KR vs NA servers. - The finals production quality could've been better. - Only 1 game shown live. If it wasn't a teamliquid event, I think it would've been negatively received. The things TSL3 did well: - Good balance of invites and qualifiers, although I would've preferred more places for qualifiers. - Good hype.
