My friend is a brilliant fps player...which I am less then stellar at. I've had him play sc2 with me a few times and he is utterly wretched. The decisions he makes seem to literally make no sense at all, but that is because he doesn't know any better. He doesn't improve because he plays sc2 just for fun. He devotes his time and energy to improving other facets of his life...being a better doctor (yes he is a doctor), or a better drummer (we play in a band together) or his fps games. Starcraft just isn't as important to him as it is to all of you. I actually told him the other day to check out team liquid, and how everyone on here seemed like such good people, helpful and kind. I wanted to try and spur his interest in starcraft. Now I am extremely disappointed after reading this and can't imagine his reaction if he ran into Gheed in game. Of course he would be upset, probably BM (which by the way most people outside sc2 community have no concept of what is considered bm, don't even know what the hell GG is) and then be ridiculed or patronized by Gheed. What you people who find this humorous don't realize is, even though you may say "lolz, worker rush just a-move." Casual players (and yes a casual player may have played hundreds of games) just don't understand the best way to respond to that situation. To those who say this is a form of bullying, you are exactly right. I think someone made an excuse that it's not logical to call it bullying since it is such a simple strat and easily beaten. It never seems like bullying when you are coming from a place of power. But think of the other persons perspective. What if a bully in school pushed you to the ground everyday. And when you complained you were being bullied the teacher/principle simply said "well, he is using a very simple technique to knock you down all you have to do is side step out of the way noob"? I really can not see how there is anything of value to be learned from what Gheed is doing. You want an answer to why some bronze people suck? Cause to them this is just a game...simple as that. Something to do to pass the time and have fun playing. They click the little buttons at the bottom right of the screen and make crap shoot each other. It is truly sad to me that people can somehow find a way to feel superior because they have more knowledge about a subject that others probably have spent little or no time contemplating. I have spent many many of my waking hours playing music, learning theory, was a vocal major in college, play guitar/bass/drums/keys whatever. Would it make sense for me to go laugh at someone attempting to go play their first open mic for fun? Tell them I can't believe they can't make a simple G chord? Say that I somehow want to study them to figure out why they are so damn bad? I mean...come on. I know this is under blogs, and I will be honest I don't know exactly how this works since Gheed def. is entitled to his own opinions in his own blog. However, I really hope this comes down off spotlight. It really paints the Team Liquid community in a bad light. To those of you who stood up for these victims, good for you. Be proud of yourselves. To anyone who was featured in these blogs I am sorry, I want you to know not all people around here are like this, many are very kind and helpful. Keep playing and having fun. It is just a game after all.

And really? All bronze players are there to have fun playing.. but if they lose to something that takes 2 clicks to beat, they rage and are obviously not enjoying this game. Half the fun is learning this game, i only play for fun and i never rage when i lose to really dumb things.... but what do i know i guess im not bronze...

Take a step back and realize: Gheed generally knows what's going to happen almost every game, not counting the variation of bad responses to a worker rush. His opponents are usually taken by surprise. Some of them have read his blog. Are any of those blog-worthy? Hardly. Someone who was nice and recognized his name got a screen shot. That's generally not very interesting. The ones who appear in his blog are those whose minds draw a blank when 7 workers enter their base. Then they lose and rage, and Gheed's way of responding to it is very entertaining. Yet there's no denying he's taking advantage of a situation of his own making--one he sees coming (the worker rush, not the weird responses) while his opponents do not. It's like being called upstairs to talk with your boss, and then you're ambushed with something you supposedly did wrong, or a co-worker complaint about you. You have no preparation, and you're left fumbling for the right words, but you really risk making the situation even worse. Your boss has the home field advantage. Being unprepared makes it much more difficult to react calmly. I think the part about "not understanding how stupid people can be" is overblown as well. There's a little too much egotism in the desire to believe ourselves superior to those in bronze, and I don't mean "better at Starcraft." Personally, while I'm just as susceptible to selfishness, I think we're capable of realizing that most of us are or were that bad at something. There's a certain fake love Gheed shows for his opponents, but it's more like a scientist watching rats in a maze and studying the ones who fail rather than those who succeed. I challenge you all to just leave a game if someone worker rushes you. That'll be the fastest exit to a new game and to meaningful practice. Only stay if you have trouble with worker rushes or worker vs worker micro battles (yeah, real important) On a somewhat hypocritical note, I didn't realize I missed part 6. Heck yeah.

Do you really think you are funny because you steal the fun of anyone else's game? What would you think if you start playing sc2 and you dont know how to use the a move? What if you were trolled the whole day because you were in bronze? They will never become better because of stupid guys like you. When you enter bronze, you get cheesed all day. 50% of the new guys see the strategies, think the are the best or at least the fastest way to get a win and then cheese themselves. The other half wants to improve and eventually get out of bronze. L2p!

It is about people who play with either no will to win(with some who still manage to rage wildly when they lose), or who are so staggeringly incompetent that they can't identify just how horrid they are and blame it on stuff like balance(which is also funny). These characters exist in every league; bronze is just the most appealing place to find the most concentrated levels of it. The more I think about it, the comments themselves to this blog are almost meta in their nature. Here we have posters who blame everyone and everything for the bronze players shortcomings, jumping to wild conclusions to demonize the OP and everyone who agree's with him all while taking a stand as someone who is sensible and obviously not on a high horse... TL;DR If you are "playing for fun" and then still wind up spamming a person with racial slurs for 5 minutes after you lose a game, you are doing it wrong. This is a witty blog about the players who do not wish, are too ignorant or do not have the ability to learn and the crazy shit they do-- it's not a blog taking a better than thou vantage over new players or those with no RTS experience in general. I think some people have lost sight of this fact, as well as the fact that many people have a very very very low understanding of this game compared to all of you. And for them this is simply another game to play. They don't sit online in forums, watch replays, research build orders, hotkeys, unit counters, whatever. Do not, I say again, do not play on a competitive ladder where other people are most likely playing competitively. Is that so hard to understand?

Also, the reasoning about a bully pushing you down on the schoolyard is pure bogus. Try exchanging the schoolyard for, I don't know, a boxing ring or something of the kind. You know, a place where you go to fight on your own accord. Then see if you can make the same point, without the opponent cheating.

This isn't even early seasons ladder where the bar was set pretty low for the average player skill level.

Well to be fair most people in bronze league play for fun not for competition, or they would simply not be in bronze league. The ladder system is pretty much designed so that players who dont want to play competitively or completely seriously get placed at the button and can square of against each other, not so that a high level player on purpose places himself in bronze league to beat them with tactics they dont know how to respond to. Dont really see the fun in this blog tbh. Seems you just want to provoke a bm response by worker rushing in order to feel you have a right to shit back at the other players with your own bm.
