YES! FINALLY! I LOVE MYSELF!
Fucking fuckhard, but absolutely worth it. Had to sell of valuable stuff killing baal since i didnt have enough money for potions and shit. Didn´t know which one was the real and which was the decoy so obv. i killed 3 decoys before getting to the real one. Level 84 wind druid, zero help from bnet. Crap stats and crap gear but YES!
Now: practice for D league semis tomorrow.

You have joined the few that have beaten the game themselves haha.
Wind druid is actually one of the best single-player characters you can play, I was surprised by that myself. What kind of end-game gear did you wind up wearing? Mostly rares? Any uniques or good sets? Runewords maybe?
|
You can tell the decoys apart by the positioning of Baals name in his healthbar, it's slightly out of place compared to the real Baal
|
Windy druids are so terrible in hell. Everything has 50% physical resistance (or something, I don't remember). I don't know how you did it.
Fuck you now I want to play it again.
|
hahaha good job on beating hell. I don't think i've done it solo nor do i think i could ever be bothered. I thought you only beat normal i was thinking "REALLLY??!!?!?"
Also want new Ghin blog! (If you're reading this)
|
What pray tell "good stuff" did you have to pawn for potions? O_o

Helmet: Aldurs Gaze + ort+? (for resistance) Weapon: Imp wand (horrible but gave me some poison resist) Armour: Guardian angel (770def, 15% max resist ect. + jewel all res 9) Shield: The ward (all res 47 ect) Gloves: Trang-ouls claws (cast rate ect) Shoes: Infernostride Belt: Storm clarp (or something, shit)
Almost everything rare (thats the goldish thing right?) but my weapon was yellow, that bad form of yellow. Rings: All res 15/ all res 13 Amulet: all res 14 , mf 22%
Shitton of charms
As you can see I went for resistance for some reason... Fire: 95 Cold: 90 Lightning: 90 Poison: 64
Put almost everything in life (774) and some mana (380). Also i put alot into my bear that tanked good for me, like 3k life or something (put shit in wolf which gave him more life, he made like 0 damage). Had a henchman that i bought when there were a motherfucker that didnt get hurt by my spells with a badass scythe or something.
I have tried it before with first a barbarian (didnt work at all, got to like act 3 and just died all the time) and a hammerdin (Same story there) so im really happy atm!

Well, mostly expensive runes, cant rember the names atm but a few at lvl 40-50ish which was kind of sad. But hey, what do i need them for now?

Killing the ubers. Lilith, Uber Duriel, Uber Izual, Uber Mephisto, Uber Baal, Pandemonium Diablo, and if you can find him Uber Diablo.
|
Where do i find those? I feel like i´ve beat the game though, and are they even possible to kill by yourself? T_t

congrats! this is really making me want to play again and try to beat it again before d3 is released.

They are soloable depending on who you are and what build you are working with.
I think a wind druid might be fucked though. Life tap or excellent defense + minions is a must.
|
Hey hey hey my wand have lvl 4 life tap included!
|
|
A wind druid on solo play definitely CANNOT beat the ubers lmao. You could possibly beat uber diablo if he spawned, but there's no way you could beat uber diablo, meph, and baal. You need to have lifetap from what I recall and a quick attack. Smiting paladins were the best because it would always hit and give you back 100% hp when you did.
I'd be satisfied with just beating the game. Also, the goldish color items are unique, the yellow are rare, so you got some decent gear .

You can beat ubers with any sufficiently geared melee character, so long as you have a lifetap wand.
Paladins were just the easiest because exile is extremely OP.

Nice, congrats man. Good luck in the D league semis.

grats m8, D2 is such a great gream, always overlooked by these "bioware" fanatics !
If you still want to do something in diablo2 try a mod for it called median XL. it revamps all classes and adds new monster + after the game itself you have plenty of bosses you could try to kill, some are hard some are not that bad.
|
Cow level was pretty hard at Hell i must say. Also, im kind of beat doing half of act 5 in one day so ill just kill Cow king some other day. We´ll see if ill go up against the übers, maybe maybe. Thanks for the support; Gheed please write another blog about your necro!!!!

I've actually beaten the game on all difficulties in Single Player 8 times, once as each class, twice as barb

Sick D2-nerds in this blog i must say. Impressive! So what char is actually the easiest one to pick if you wanna beat it single player ? And what henchman should you choose?

Either you get a barb/pala that just never dies, or you go ranged with an act 2 merc, works fine solo imo
|
Cant finish it with my full ice sorceress. I'm blocked at the second act in hell ahaha
|
Sorc can do it pretty much by getting a reasonable fcr, massing up mana/rejuvs, and just teleing through the whole game. Boss fights take a long time but eh. My favorite run through of DII was always bowzon. Took forever though.

Good for you man!!!!! The memories will last forever or maybe until diablo 3 lol.

For untwinked single player it, the easiest in my opinion would be trap assa. Respectable light dmg, along with corpse exposion from death traps, can attack from safe distance/places thanks to traps, fade for extra res + phys res OR BoS for speed. MB and CoS are also extremely powerful CC spells. Also has a minion ^^
They do great in untwinked hardcore play too, since they have so much survival.
|
That's impressive. Farthest I've gotten with a single player character is act 4 hell with a fire only sorc, can't imagine how hard act 5 would be
|
oh man if u said something sooner i'd tell u to start a summon necro

yeah I ran that in HC once. Never had a trouble going anywhere. The thing is with mindblast+shadow you CANNOT lose to mobs, you can simply blast a few conversion and just lay down the traps while keeping them busy with their own.
I got 1 point in blade fury and had STRENGTH runeword for crushing blow for bosses, it works pretty well.

Right, but his character is a wind dude, so unless he's just going to auto-attack the ubers to death (lol), the windy druid can't do it.

The easiest character to get through the game with is probably the summon necromancer. You never take any damage at all, and everything is pretty easy to get through, although slow. Get a might merc from Act 2 nightmare and gear the hell out of him and pair him with a clay golem - good to go!

I felt like the wind guy was pretty fast - it took a long time if the enemies had resistance but otherwise it plows through enemies at a good rate. Alot of DII fans here which makes me happy...Next stop hardcore?

I never really tried hardcore much, but I also played strictly on battle.net. The last time I played hardcore I had a barbarian that was level 12 in the catacombs level III, I hit a black wall lag spike and then a minute later my character was dead - never tried again lmao. At least on single player there should be no lag, but I don't think I would be very satisfied playing a character and then having it die, especially with all the possible cheap deaths in Diablo, like the guys that shoot lightning in the Worldstone Keep, or iron maiden in the Chaos Sanctuary.

You can reset your skill points in the latest patch, if he wanted to change to a fury (or whatever druid zeal was called) werewolf.

I actually have a question for you guys: what kind of weapon should i use for maximum effect? Have been toying around with a bunch of different stuff but in the end i figured i´d go with anything one-handed so that i could have a shield for maximum protection. There are really nothing that stands out for a magician druid i feel., (also: does mana steal works when you do spells? T_t)
|
What kind of server do you play on (b.net/single, ladder/nonladder etc.)? And if you play on b.net, can you afford some the more "expensive items"?

A hoto flail (ko-vex-pul-thul) is probably the easiest good thing to obtain, but it would still be hard to find a vex on your own. Otherwise there are some unique druid clubs that give skill bonuses iirc
And no, mana drain only works on melee or ranged attacks.

Yeah what IS up with those puppets, you just insta-die if you even get close to them. I usually esc as soon as possible if i suspect them and then go "save and exit" - and goes back later for my runs.

See this is a bad post for me, because I cant take anything away from that unless googling for a good 10 minues. This is single player only for me but im thinking of doing it with an archer since i love those, or maybe a barbarian. No cheating/helping with gear from other characters, that spoils the fun i think!

There's not that many choices then, just use the best stuffs you can find (a weapon with +skills, stats, life/mana, fcr, resistance). I also recommend keep using one-handed + shield.
You COULD make the runeword "Honor". It only requires low runes which are quite easy to find. It gives +1 all skill, 10 str, some rep life and mana after each kill.
I'm curious, what weapon are you using atm?

I always play hardcore(untwinked or stuff I found myself), mostly casters since they're not as item dependent. I always go for the runeword Spirit in a 4-socketed sword. Easy-to-find runes and awesome stats, +2 skill, +faster cast rate and resistance, everything a caster needs. The trickiest thing is usually to find the socketed sword though but it's not that uncommon if you keep your eyes open. I have no idea if it's better than what you're using, can't remember anything called Imp Wand, but Spirit is good.
http://diablo.wikia.com/wiki/Spirit_Rune_Word
edit: ugh, just realized it's ladder only so it will probably not work for you.
|
Uber solo-ing is not that easy, it is do-able on all the characters but a lot easier on Paladins I think...I forget its been a long time. Druids I am not so sure, there's probably a specific build for that. It's just a lot more time investment, may be you can just get in one of the spawns on B-net.

Curse you. I saw this thread enough that I decided to start a new character. Then I saw the patch notes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Patch 1.13d --------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Features - Ignoring players is now saved between sessions of the game. All ignores are now written out to disk (file: 'ignorelist'). This feature can be toggled by issuing the command '/ignorepersist'. - Users can now filter messages based on content by issuing the command '/filtermsg <content>'. To unfilter content issue the command '/unfiltermsg <content>'. (The maximum length of a filter pattern is 128 characters) - Users can now set their home channel by issuing a new Battle.net chat command '/home <channel name>' while in the Battle.net chat interface. - Users can return to their home channel at any time by issuing the command '/home' while in the Battle.net chat interface.
Battle.net Chat Reminder Battle.net provides a number of ways to manage in-game spam and communication from other players. Some of these commands are: /options ignorepublic (/o igpub) - Ignores messages in public chat channels from anyone who isn't on your friends list.
/options unignorepublic (/o uigpub) - Reallows messages in public chat channels from anyone who isn't in your friends list. /options ignoreprivate (/o igpriv) - While in private chat channels you will not receive messages from anyone who isn't in your friends list. /options unignoreprivate (/o uigpriv) - Re-allows messages in private chat channels from anyone who isn't in your friends list. /options ignorewhispers (/o igw) - Ignore whispers from anyone who isn't in your friends list. /options unignorewhispers (/o unigw) - Reallows whispers from all users.
They spend more time making Diablo 2 better than they do battle.net 2.
Think I will make a bowazon this time around

d2 is probably the game i've played most of all time. i make a new char and go through everything like atleast once a month haha.
also, congrats OP :p

As a HC player, I always did just enough strength to wear stuff, just enough dex to max block with whatever shield you plan on using (exact number depends on your choice of shield - use a stat calc!), all spare points get split on Vita . Depending on your luck on drops/whatever muled gear you have, "enough strength to wear stuff" will vary. Get at least enough STR you need for a a good shield though (170-ish?) but you might need a bit higher for other gear.
