Hey guys, I, like many of you, indulged into Blizzard's videogames and have played all of them religiously. However, outside of SC:BW and SC2, I have become fairly bored of the other games. Diablo 3 is months away and I am creating this blog post in order to acquire assistance in order to find PC games to kill time with.
Genre does not matter. If the game is good/fun I am willing to try it out. I prefer multiplayer/competitive games; however, single players are fine to.
No Valve games (TF2....CS...Half-Life..etc) because I have played them all.
I really want to play a Hack n Slash in preparation for Diablo 3.
-Thanks for reading!

Heroes of might and magic have a great and time consuming single player mode. The Nomad Soul and Broken Sword 1 and 2 are all great adventure games.

You could break out Dragon Age for a more Hack n Slash game. For multi-player, you have to try Magicka. Find a few mates, get it for like 10 dollars, and have fun, because that game is hilarious

The obvious answer, have you tried Torchlight? It's made by some original Diablo dudes and it's awesome

There are several Hack n Slash games to play, but every of them is just worse than d2 or d1. (mostly they are only bad copies of the diablo series)
Sad to disappoint you

Titan Quest + Titan Quest Immortal Throne is really good.

You could try "Path of Exile". It's a free to play game. It is explicitly modeled after Diablo, especially the gothic atmosphere of the first Diablo. Although I'm not sure if the game is out yet. I think it's still in beta. Maybe you're lucky and the beta is open :D Another choice would be Darkspore. It's based on the Spore character engine, has like 100 different heroes and other nice new features in a sci-fi setting. Not my cup of tea, but alright. Also you could take a look at Deathspank. It's a very humorous hack and slash type of game. If you're into that type of humor this seems like a really fun game. (Haven't tried it out myself)

I heard good things about Torchlight.

As you specify No-Blizzard, I presume you've played D1 and D2, right? Others: Nox Torchlight Titan Quest. Sacred 1 & 2
Fallout 3 is sort of ARPG, but it was very buggy for me Those are ones I've played, they're quite ok.
Maybe Hellgate: London. Don't know how good it is though.
EDIT: Whoa, never played The Witcher. I'll have to pick it up, thanks for the tip.

The Witcher 1 and 2 is a must play imo. Story so good <3 not a true hack n slash though.
Torchlight is pretty good if you just want a diablo clone but d2 is still better. I never got into titan quest and its expansion, for some reason it just felt so repetitive and the character customisation (the only good thing about it) wasn't enough to pull me through. I think i finished it but i definitely won't be going back.

If you want games that kill time...
The HOMM games already mentioned are excellent for that, as are games like Civ IV. If you want to immerse yourself in the pinnacle of RPG gaming, the Baldur's Gate games are second to none. If you have a creative (or sadistic) streak, Dwarf Fortress is as addicting as can be. I've wasted many an hour at my university playing Nethack instead of studying for exams, you can too! Fillers while waiting for Diablo 3 could be Titan Quest, Dungeon Siege 2 and Torchlight. Autumn and darkness approach, perhaps a scare is in order? Amnesia - The Dark Descent and Call of Cthuli: Dark Corners of the Earth deliver.

Hellgate:London was probably the worst action rpg game I have ever played. Not sure how the reboot is like.
How is Titan Quest's multiplayer? Is the community active? Do people still play that game? Seems pretty interesting. Sadly, the demo does not work for me on steam!
I really want to try out POE. If somebody would like to help a fella brethren out "hint" (give me a beta key), would be much obliged!!!
I have heard good things about the Witcher. Its still going for $50 (Witcher 2). Will have to read reviews on that game before I try it out. is there a demo out for it?

How is the gameplay in Baldur's gate? Is it full-blown rpg game? Or, is it more action-oriented. Also, the game seems pretty old....now I am not the kind of guy to judge on graphics, but....gameplay must be really exhilirating if I would consider that one. More info plz!!!
Dwarf Fortress? I never heard of that game. Will have to google it good sir.

I think the TQ multiplayer is fine. You can buy it from steam for like 15$ with the addon... For best experience just play with a friend. You can have 4 players in 1 game I think and there's a german community, don't know much about how actice the international community is, but its a fun game even without community.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is good. Also Europa Universalis 3.
