So, Tl(notice i didnt make the L big, cus im a baller like HerO), im going to ask you a question my friend asked me the other, and i found myself without an answer.
Pretend you just came by 5 million USD, but you would only be able to spend them on supporting eSports( or just sc2), growing eSports(or just sc2) or helping eSports in any other way(or just sc2).

How would you spend these the best way?

btw i do not want to hear about how you would not spend them on eSports, but buy that house by the beach you've always wanted.

Perhaps lobbying to get ESPORTS on mainstream television. This would generate more interest in the subject and thus more money via sponsoring. I honestly think it wouldn't be a bad idea for TV stations either: for tiny licensing fees, they could reach a relatively large audience.

I'd start a european tournament similar to NASL, just better :p

Then the finals would be the top 8 of the NASL, the top 8 of Code S and the Top 8 of the EUSL fighting for their respective regions.

Dear TeamLiquid,

Enclosed is a check for 5 million dollars, I know you'll do the right thing.

I've been thinking what i would do if i won a lottery or something worth a 2-5million. Probably give at least 5-XXk $ (depending how big the prize is) to some tournament. TSL/TL could be a good choice, since IPL, NASL, GSL etc has already big moneys/or sponsors.

But would definitely support E-sports somehow if i had huge amount of money lying around, pretty much.

I would probably get people together and organise an eSports event here in the Netherlands. All the big events in Europe have been in Germany (IEM), Sweden (Dreamhack), and France (BlizzCon). I would love to be able to bring eSports to our country!

Yeah, something like this. I think it would be a better idea to present some sort of a documentary rather than actual matches since it would be cheaper and more likely to break stereotypes and cause interest though.

Also, you're miscapitalizing ESPORTS, OP.

Sponsor the OSL/MSL, alternatively buy MBC (if they would be swayed by such an insignificant sum)

Establish an endowment for innovators and popularizers of ESPORTS! Use the interest to hand out $1-$5k awards for outstanding effort on behalf of ESPORTS. Provide awards in some form for all good grant applications. Provide prize money for community-organized tournaments. Host viewing parties for major events, and make sure advertisers get accurate viewer numbers.

I would give one million to team liquid.
And create some kind of structure that would be on television.
I'm thinking reality team houses with team league.
Hmm... global so no one has to move just set up a few more houses fly the casters to different locations for different matches but hold the matches online.
yes yes... could even keep a ridiculous amount in reserve for the winning team.
BW pros training sc2 is like kiss making a dub step album.

I think 5million can only support one SC team for about 3 yrs. Although if I invest it well, I could make more money from that 5m and then buy another team. I definitely can't afford Flash though. lol

Call me a greedy asshole, but I'd put that money in a high interest savings account, drop out of school, and start training to be the "player of a lifetime". I could "grow" esports more by being a bonjwa in SC2 than by dividing the money equally amongst 25 players over 5 years who all abuse buildorders and map wins.

Am I restricted to spending it on SC2? If then I'd donate a large portion to TL as a measure of goodwill and appreciation, and spend the rest of it attending (flight tickets, accommodation, whatever) the next 100 SC2 tournaments around the world. I should be set for a few good years, don't you think? ^^

If I'm allowed to spend it anywhere in esports, I'd try to rescue MBC Game (sorry WeMade, but I like MBC better) and part-sponsor the next MSL.

Make my own organisation for e-sports like FIFA is for football. Get more money from sponsors and organisse events.

Make a Champions League and a UEFA League / World Cup and Contentinal Cup equivalent for e-sports world wide.
Bring in the cash for me AND e-sports. You're welcome

A really big advertising campaign on mainstream television for sc2, a series to introduce yourself to starcraft fundamentals.

Idk, just stuff to get the word out there. think tournaments need to be self sufficient, so bringing in more fans is more important to me.

Just make a team with Oz, Fox and Hero players, win PL thrice, then make three teams out of your team, by splitting up your players equally and bringing back the other A/B teamers from the 3 original teams and look for sponsors for the other two if you don't want to sponsor three teams :p.

Sure you can afford Flash. He's slightly under 400k a year only.
Buying MBCGame HERO might be one of the things I'd do, and maybe WeMade FOX too, but I'd be way too lazy to manage them.
I might give some money to KeSPA because I'm clueless about which organization can do the right thing like organizing effective tournaments to promote BW spirit but just need a sponsor for their prize pool etc.
Maybe start a foundation to help B-teamers have at least a basic allowance? 5 mil US should be way more than enough for a pretty long time I reckon..

Hmm I would most likely donate it to dota-league in increments, starting low at like 5k for a weekly, ramping up to 100k for the weekly. Then run out of money and crash it.

I'll buy all my favourite players and keep them all in a massive training house with all the necessities and luxuries.

Then I'd build a huge kitchen StarCraft stadium capable of seating up to 1k people, 100 of which will be determined by weekly lottery draws on TL, the other 900 will be super rich sponsors and benefactors.

Every week I'll invite an up-and-coming player to play a BO7 against one of my players, of his or her choice.
If a challenger ever defeats one of my players, he or she will earn 1 week accommodation in my training house.

These matches will be streamed live, casted by Tastosis, who I also keep locked away well-fed, living a life of luxury.

1- I'd start a company making products or services relevant to gamers and would heavily sponsor e-sports for publicity, making a mutually profitable relationship. In sponsoring tournaments, if I had that much political power, I would insist that if production value is garbage, I wouldn't be helping again. (The money has to be distributed properly between the production team, the commentators and the players as prize money)

or, if that's not allowed

2- I'd "slowly" inject good amounts of money into various tournament. Same deal - if tournament X sucks, then it's more money for tournament Y and Z (and the other ones).

+I might also hire people to break Blizzard employee legs until big tournaments get LAN.

+Also MLG needs bigger prize pools, until then it's a big conspiracy for airlines to pocket literally hundreds of thousands. =P (I know there's a big tournament a the end, but still)
