EPTMy name is Truls, I'm 19 years old and I live in a small unhospitable place known as Norway. I've played Starcraft 1 for some weeks and also come to enjoy Starcraft 2 over the past few months. I'm currently ranked silver, as I have been since I first started 1v1ing, I'm now at about 200 wins this season with rank 1 constantly... and no promotion.
But I ain't crying, it's fun to play no matter what bracket your in. At the current time im enrolled (or something like that, pardon me, my English sucks, I'm a Norwegian after all..) in a military school, which will have me educate myself to become a sergeant in the Norwegian army with a bachelor degree in telematics, or engineering if you so prefer. This will make my time to play limited, but I will still play and write this blog as often as I can.
This is as you saw part 1 of my epic series of blogs. I will mostly be talking about what I do to improve and what I think I'm constantly doing wrong when losing to various cheeses and people expanding trice without building any defence (yes, sometimes I'm that horri-bad).
Today has been a day of wonders for me. I placed plat in 2vs2 random, I'm on a 9-1 streak in 1vs1 still clinching my first place spot and I won both of the 3vs3 and 4vs4 matches I played. A good day so far, one could argue. Not really. Sometime out in my first gamesession, which was my "today is the day I'll get gold" I suddenly go from 0 bonus points to 134. I sense something is up. I play a zerg. I go for forge -> FE on ST against Z. I get up my defence, scout and see he's expanding, find a roach warren, add two more cannons to my wall and start working on warp gates and sentries. 2 seconds before the cannons finish he breaks my wall with a zergling roach all in due to a small glitch in my FF's. Though luck. Suddenly no more bonus points. Was my one chance at going up ruined by a all in?
The next game I face a walling-off terran. I 3-gate voidrayrush him. Game. Again I face a terran, I hide a pylon in his bace and go for 5 gate all-in. Game. I face a zerg. I go for a 4-gate blinkstalker rush, game. Only all ins. I'm mad. Why can't I hold all ins? I scout, obv. I forget sometimes, but I fail to read anything into what I see. Having seen so many Day9 dailies I should know what to do, but I always fail at some very elementary level when playing. Also my micro sucks. Back to the games. Terran again. Cannon rush. Game. Then a PvP. I decide to straight out macro him. I hide two nexuses and try to contain him to one base. I win 5 bases to 1. Dude missed his minerals and didnt see it. Lucky. Another PvP, DT-rush Hey-oh.
All ins work. But they get me nowhere. Obv. I'm working on blink micro and want to practice my openings more than my late game, which sucks the most, so thats why I do it. I win alot. People get mad. I say I do it for the points. They say I suck. I hold off a 6pool with a cannon rush. They call me the noob. I hate to cheese, but when I get cheesed myself it's gonna go badly for the next guy that comes my way. I think that's one of my biggest problems. Rank. I want it. Gold. I want it. I've beaten a master toss in 1vs1 in a straightup game and I know I'm atleast capable of taking wins in platinum on a regular basis.
Can someone give me some tips on how to fix my game, go up in rank and get TLO to live with me? <3
