Well, considering season 3 is coming up soon, I was wondering what people think about the new maps, as well as the region linking they're adding in. Do you guys think the region linking will make it easier or harder to gain ranks? I think at least with the new maps, it'll be a little bit hard to work up ranks for the start, until everyone starts learning the maps.

Hopefully with the region link and new maps, things will get a little fresher. I'm not a big fan of a lot of the 1v1 map pool, and the ones I don't dislike I love. I guess when it really gets started we'll see what happens.

On another note, I played a LOT of 2v2 stuff with a friend yesterday. Do you guys think of 2v2 as harder, or easier? I don't take myself super serious in 2v2, so my rank really sucks, but...I'm just curious as to what people think about it.

I really like the new maps. There are a few problems, but every maP has them. Blizzard generally has more obvious ones.
2v2 is not easier or harder, but instead different. Rushes are better, mainly due to map design. Turtling is easier for the same reasons. Breaking a turtle is easier late game because of surface area, the ability to have a 400/400 army, and sometimes because you are two different races and therefore have more tools. There is also teamwork involved and you can blame your partner if you die.
P.S cheese ->> macro is unbelievable in 2v2 if you do it right.

competitive 2v2 is actually really hard but there arent too many outlets of showing that skill in the form of leagues / tournaments. i woudlnt say its harder than 1v1 but it is still very very difficult and has certain aspects that 1v1 does not.

I hate the 4v4 maps. I used to live District 10, but having played it a lot more now, it's just brutally long and annoying. Toxic Slums is still the worst map out there, but these "twilight fortress" like maps are only good in 2v2 and even 3v3.

yea i just started vetoing district 10. i think shared bases causes frustration because my allies dont wall off when they should T_T

Adding new maps won't affect the difficulty of ranking up, as everyone is starting fresh on these maps

New 1v1 maps are terrible. Imbalanced and easy abusable. Why dont blizzard just take GSL maps? >< About the region linking - like 50% on EU doesnt speak english anyway, so adding russkies won't really change much - got used to german and french flames.

the reason blizz doesn't take GSL maps is that players at lower levels don't like big macro maps. The GSL maps aren't designed to be better than blizzard maps, period, they're designed to be more catered to pro play than blizzard maps.
