To put it simply, training has been going well. Not only have I improved in all aspects outlined from last week's blog, but I have improved in other areas as well. Some of the ways I've improved have been a bit unexpected -- but in retrospect -- make sense. For example, I wrote about wanting to incorporate more macro into my play despite my goal to be an aggressive player. Over the past week, I've come to realize the keys to sustaining an aggressive build are the same needed for an economical build. That was something not expected.
Scouting is the missing link. That is this week’s lesson pure and simple. Scouting allows me to know exactly what is coming. I know when to build units for defense. I know when to macro up., I know when to be aggressive. Scouting allows me to be the player I want to be—an aggressive macroing beast. This realization has brought a joy to my life that's hard to express. My work is cut out for me, but all that's left is raw training. Over the next few weeks, my goal is to recognize subtle clues in my opponents’ builds that will allow an efficient transition between aggression and economy.
Last week, one of my goals was to be ranked among the top 25 in my division. That hasn't come to fruition because of the non-ladder, practice games I've been doing. So, although there isn't a number representing my improvement, I know I've improved. I have great hopes over the next few weeks to be on the verge of Masters when Season 3 starts. We'll see how well I do with that goal. I guess that's all for this week, so...until next week, thanks for reading!
