SC2: Stealing a build order (day9's way)

After a lot of you recommended to stop playing 4 Warpgate Rush and learn a different/more standard build order, I decided to learn the way day[9] recommended in his last two episodes of Newbie Tuesday (#285, #289). This goes along well with CecilSunkure's way of "How to Improve Efficiently at SC2". In the end I decided to go for the build CecilSunkure recommends to any new Protoss player: PvT 2 Gate Fast Obs FE. What did I do so far? Step 1: I watched the replay that is posted in the above mentioned [G]. Step 2: I identified Building Groups and played 3 games against the AI. Step 3: I noted down Unit mixes and played 5 games against the AI. Step 4: (That's where I'm currently at!) I noted down some benchmarks and started playing some more games against the AI and compared. (Actually I'm at 1 game so far, as my flatmate and I started to play some coop games. ) So next up is: 1) I will play 5 games and refine the build order I copied. 2) I will play this build order in ladder games. 3) I keep refining during ladder games. CecilSunkure strongly recommended to have a fixed goal, so I made up my mind. I'm currently a Silver league player, so my goal will be as follows: I want to be promoted to Gold league AND I want to win 25 games on the way to get the Stalker portrait (sorry, I love getting new portraits ), AND I want to play all the games using a stolen build order (see above), WHICH I learn using day[9]'s method! That's my goal and I know it will take a long time to reach Gold league. But I will have learned the build order by heart and maybe I get a second build order done until then. :D Regards ionize

Playing sc2 mindlessly is fun sometimes, but i remember reaching goals when I was playing Brood War (reach x apm, be able to play SKTerran -which was scary cause it required a lot more multitasking-, win X ladder games with 12 pool on iccup, etc) and it felt really good when seeing results cause playing with a set mind helps you improve so much without you even noticing or caring about "I want to be diamond right now" but about other little things that compliment your play (for example, you start noticing early-mid game timmings a lot more when you open 12 pool as Zerg in BW) and those help you in normal games later on Do some after reports when you are done ps: I wish BW had achievements ;_;

I have a replay pack posted if you wanna see what my progression looked like, link is in my most recent blog post. Good luck with your endeavor, I'm sure you'll get promoted soon enough
