G'day folks,
So... apart from being incredibly tired all day today, had a semi-interesting experience with a client.
We deal with the media a lot where I work, and a particular client wanted some media coverage - and so I tried to find out what company they were from... and they said "APM".
Naturally, my first thought was Actions Per Minute. I said to them "Umm I'm not sure if actions per minute is a company with us currently?" being the tired, idiot I am.
Client then of course mentioned their real name, to which I then face-desked afterwards.
Anyone else have RL experiences where there is a "Starcraft Term" or something like that where their first reaction was to think of the SC reference - instead of the PROPER reference? I'm sure there are some Doctors/Nurses around who have heard a patient talk about DT's and thought about invisible brotoss units inside a patients body.

This happens to me every day, not only when doing real life work but in conversations about TL itself. Here is an example from irc.

I always think that Artosis is the opposite of cellular mitosis.
Also, every day on my way to work I pass a pair of office buildings for a company with the initials BBS. It's even on BBS road. Best part is it's halfway between work and home and surrounded by nothing, so I always joke to myself in my head that this must be what an actual Barracks-Barracks-Supply must look like to a scouting probe. 2 huge buildings in the middle of nowhere, about to ruin my day.

Probably is. I just checked out Google Maps and the BBS headquarters here in the U.S. is surrounded by pretty much nothing in Braselton, GA on BBS Way. We now know where BenKen is from!

TVP refers to the important Temperature-Volume-Pressure relationships for various gases in chemistry and chemical engineering. Generally it is referred to as a TVP problem... and it usually involves DTs (derivatives of temperature) in some way -_-
