To ask for boss' sc2 id or no?

Basically found out boss plays sc2 by talking about MLG then about GSL and Day[9]tv. Anyways is it too unprofessional to play sc2 together? It's a job that's mostly filled with college students, and in a college town.

Anyways yes, no? potential sc2 friend or just keep it at a professional level?

Anyways I'm a typist.

I used to play BW with a boss of mine when I had summer part time jobs. He was cool with it, and it made work a lot more entertaining!

no harm in asking

im sure if he has a problem with it (doubt it) he would politely decline and probably give you a very reasonable explanation.

I'd be subtle. If he's the kind of boss who wants to talk about it, he'd probably ask you for yours. Start dropping hints that you play (tell someone else in the office/whatever about it where he'll overhear it) or something.

If you ask him for his b.net ID, he might think you're trying to kiss up to him or something.

As long as you don't rage quit/say embarrassing things on battle.net should you lose, and other things that could hurt your working relationship etc, I don't see why it should be a problem.

I dunno man.. sounds like alot of tip toe around the subject for no reason..
this isnt really a delicate situation or anything.. I cant possibly imagine myself having any trouble bringing it up casually at lunch or something and just offering to game for shits and giggles..
honestly.. i dont see what the issue is.

Might be bad if you call in sick some time and he sees you on SC2. Have to be careful with that sort of thing, otherwise go for it.

Then again, the boss would be playing during work hours. Plus I feel like playing Starcraft is a valid activity to do while sick.

Do it :D
As long as you're not like a million times better than him, he has no reason to get mad or fire you. :'D

If I found out my boss played SC2(which is 100% possible, as I work in a computer store), I'd be like LET'S DO IT MAN! Haha.

Yeah you should be happy your boss has sc2. There is NO WAY my boss plays sc2 but it would be pretty baller if she did.

People are all suggesting do it, i'll tell you to list out the pros and cons

Pros: Might foster a nice relationship there, get on his good side, have fun playing games in free time

Cons: He sees how much time you're spending, when you last logged on, etc. etc. and you can get on his bad side just as fast as you can get on his good side.

Careful bro.

Seems risky playing a competitive game with someone who has power over you.
My strategy is to fork people.

Ask his id first. If he's watching MLG and day9 then he's probably on TL too. Hell he might even read this blog.
So from now on you can never post during work hours and say anything negative about your boss in blogs/posts :d

Depends entirely on personality. If your boss and you can see the game as a pastime and not a measure of personal quality relating to the job, then it'd be good for the friendly contact. Otherwise, there's an unavoidable accident ahead.

Yes, I check TL often and yes, you can have my ID. There's several people in the office I play Halo, SC, and CoD with.

PS - If I lose a Bo5 you have to clean the bathrooms for a week!

Oh. So owned.

Now you can't claim you were working around the clock.

This is the problem with "friending" your boss on facebook OR bnet. GFG.

Here's the perfect thing to do. You ask for his id, and you play some matches. Let him beat you, but actually look like you're trying, and keep your apm up by just clicking randomly. If you are better than him, drag the game out to like 30 minutes, then lose on purpose, letting his army destroy you. And afterwards, just be like "you're so good" then you ask for a promotion and BAM he gives you a promotion

Either way could be a legitimate response, depending on what kind of boss he is. It's your call.
