Hey guys,
today the first week is over. You know what, I feel a bit more comfortable with my SCBW controls and that gives me hope to really improve within the upcoming months.
On the downside I lack a lot of practice and not just because I am a newbe, but literally. I join ICCup and find hardly any games to play. On average I had 3 games against human players the last three days and today I had none at all. :,(
I'm not sure what I should do. Stick with my one map, one matchup, one build approach, or go for maybe one more matchup. I added Python to my maps of choice and would like to try Destination too. This why I'd have three maps to play and two matchups, but I would also like to stick with mainly one matchup to really dig into it.
At this point I wanna thank two people, who helped me tremendously this week. That's Knickknack who offered to teach me some stuff and look through my replays to hint me on what I need to improve. Much appreciated! And also I wanna thank Milkis from #teamliquid as he is my "constant" practice partner now and we had a bunch of fun games so far which helped me a ton. Thanks! :D
I got BWChart from my first ICCup try and I had a look through my replays. It tells me my avg APM are at 82. My peak was yesterday with 106 and it was an intense game I played back then. These APM show me that I get the handspeed down and learn to do more and more thinks quickly. But on the other hand I realized that I still struggle with my brain keeping up. It feels like I got all the right ideas in my head, but the execution and processing is lacking.
I think this will come with more practice and I hope I will have some more games in the future. My motivation is good, I could play 1-2h straight per day, but as I said I hardly find games and as I mentioned in a previous recap I can't host games.
Cheers ionize

1-2 hours a day isn't much... Especially when you're trying to better yourself in Broodwar.

on what hours are you online ? im Firien on iccup, maybe i can play some games with you (D+/C- zerg, i can offrace pretty decently ) , i can host games edit: oh i see you are on 18-20 CET, im from poland so we are in the same timezone

well it depends, if you played 2 hours straight games that's 5-8 games most likely, but on ICC it's more like, 1 game -> 10 mins of trying to find a game -> playing 1 min of a game adn leaving cuz of lag -> playing another game-> etc
|
really shouldn't be that hard to find games :O I'm surprised.
|
lol yeah, I seriously feel for the people who can't host on iCCup
|
what is your iccup name? I'll see if you on whenever I am =)
PM it to me if you don't want to post it in the thread

if you only want to practice 1 mu at a time (and cant host) its not going to work well unless you have practice partners. Gj so far tho, keep at it!

yeah i found the sentence funny. Though i suppose that's a good starting point, you're not gonna get good very fast dedicating that amount of time to the game.
I've never really had it take that long to find a game, iccup cant be that dead yet can it?

Ok I have to comment on my 1-2h sentence. I only play this short amount of time as I got no more time to spare.
|
Maybe you're playing in terrible hours? I have to play korean hours to find a decent amount of games (end up bein like 12-5 AM my time lolol terrible)

If you can host, at a low level you can just make a game and it should take a minute tops for someone to join
Also lets you choose the map you want to play on
