WARNING:
1) this post will be long
2) there will be pictures
3) there is one kinda NSFW picture (no nudity but not really work appropriate)
4) it's mostly about me
Okay so about 8 months or so ago I lived in New York.
I decided that I wanted to do more with my life than work at a retail store fixing computers. I really hate people. As a result, I enrolled in Full Sail University in sunny Winter Park, Florida (near Orlando, down the street from UCF)
After going through rather unsavory housing dilemas (I moved 3 times in 2 months -,-) I finally found a nerd's paradise.
I currently live with two roommates, and between the three of us we only have 1 social security number!
Gian is half Italian half Panamanian and most recently lived in Italy. His tri-lingual fluency is both awesome and terrible at times. He is also unfortunately the only good looking one.
When English wins:
Febreeze and Vacuum 1 : Gian 0
Josh is half Canadian, half Australian and has only ever lived in America's hat (known to some people as Canada). I am the monster on the left and the guy in the middle is MC's biggest fan
Now the three of us together live in some kind of harmony, atleast when we play Rock Band. The perfect number of people to play Rock Band is 3. It ensures the highest score with the least amount of shitty instruments (I'm looking at you vocals and keyboard). For the record, I play Bass, Gian plays drums, and Josh plays guitar. Difficulty levels depend mostly on how hard the song is.
The rock band instruments are our most recent acquisition of split ownership. It goes nicely with the rest of our gaming paraphernalia. The laptop belongs to yours truly, the consoles are all hailing from Canada.
For those wondering:
Ps3
Xbox 360
Wii (plays gamecube games)
N64
SNES
Genesis
46inch tv sitting ontop (not shown)
In keeping with college tradition, our pantry usually looks something like this:
Now we're usually pretty good about sharing the TV and rotating consoles and movies, but Josh has laid claim to it when hockey is on. He even is sporting his playoff beard in the picture above.
As a result our household was rather sad when the Stanley Cup didn't go to Vancouver.
Canucks fighting!
What we do when we're not home:
We all go here:
Josh and I are in the same month (class) and Gian is 1 month ahead. We're all in the GAME DEVELOPMENT program because it is awesome. And because we are nerds. But mostly, because it's awesome. It has shown me the ways you can be nerdy and subtle.
One of my projects had this grading scale: (taken directly from the MS word document)
Anyone fortunate enough to not get the joke, it uses the same color scheme as the WoW loot quality system
Also this was posted on the university's website as well as sent to all Full Sail staff.
Attendance at this school is srs bzns. Because you have class 40hrs/week and only 2 classes per month, missing one day of class unexcused can easily mean a failing mark =[
To reinforce the awesome that is my school I present you with this:
It is a bunch of nerds on their break from class playing Lunar Lander on one of the two retro arcade machines jam packed with awesome goodies like streetfighter 2 and ghouls and goblins.
The end of this month's classes was thursday and we finally got to make our first "real" games. Complete with Windows direct2d graphics (its like directx but not 3d) and sprites!
My final project was a game of volleyball that uses the marvel vs capcom 2 Tron Bonne sprites. Unfortunately I didn't get to finish it, but this is what it looked like when I turned it in.
One big problem with this school is it's shameful nickname:
Yeah so needless to say, all of my classes are 15-20 other male nerds and I am unfortunately very single. This is mildly disappointing but while nerding out I usually forget. But sometimes I wish I had the ability to even see a few in my day to lighten it up a little
That aside, there is this awesome chick who I'm hoping to go visit next week when I go back to New York for my summer break... which is only a week long.... Sometimes I hate this school but I have a hard time complaining about completing a 4 year degree in 21 months.
So yeah this chick is totally awesome, she's an artist (you know the yang to the super logical programming personality I have), a super nerd, beautiful, smart, and hardworking! I mean c'mon karma, let me have a chance right?! She is so awesome she even comes with the sickest nerd tatoo I've ever seen
CAUTION DANGER WILL ROBINSON: kinda NSFW
+ Show Spoiler +
AWESOME RIGHT?! I KNOW!
(at this point in time I'm wondering how much I've written and how much is the max for one post. I hope I'm not over it yet)
I've considered going gay, but my prospects of who "i'd go gay for" are few and far between.
Find me someone who won't go gay for this guy.
On to another subject:
RECENTLY PLAYED/ING games!
My mailbox was just recently flooded with some well timed preorders that came after my finals :
Over spent on Duke Nukem? Hell no! There has to be some respect given for a game that gives you shitty annoying things to do, then makes fun of the fact that you did them all. Duke Nukem is a refreshing break from super serious storylines that make sense and unnecessary censoring of female chests and sexual innuendos.
I also finally get to play The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time all the way through! I was one of those kids who's parents thought that video games would make me a terrible evil person (or not do my hw and get a lot worse grades in school) so they never got me an N64. My first gaming system was unfortunately a Game Cube.
I just beat this badass in a place I'd like to rename "Major Domo's Cavern."
Anyone wondering if they want to get a Nintendo 3ds, you need to see the amazing graphics that the Ocarina of time has. It has by far the best 3d visual effects of anything I have seen thus far.
The last game is space station silicon valley. All you need to know is that sheep is imba, and floaty hop needs to be nerfed in the next patch.
Sweet ass fucking stat screen
And because I frequent the LoL sub form, I will include a picture of my new favorite country:
Jarman is best anyway.
And now, I leave you with my new awesome one of a kind doll from etsy:
