I do know what a wild card is. You can't draw a straight comparison from the NFL or MLB style to NASL because of how the finals are set up. The finals for NASL is more like the playoffs when the last game is like the Super Bowl/World Series. Then these playoffs we are watching right now are like the wild cards, giving players a chance to get to the finals.

I like it. still... it basically says if you don't place top 2 in your group your score doesn't matter as long as you're not in the bottom 32. Usually the higher ranked teams get byes or something in the playoffs but ironically enough fenix didn't show up and hasuobs got the bye.
It's ultimately because the groups were arbitrarily set up. It kinda taints all the results for me (and anyone who dislikes randomness.)

I think he means an alternate that can step-in and replace a player that doesn't show up.

They usually get seeds, and play the lower seeded players who have the worse record. In theory making them have an easier run in. The talent pool is so big though in Starcraft II in terms of depth that the main objective is just qualifying. It's pretty much why people like July and SeleCT messed around in their final matches too. The seed doesn't really mean much because you're always going to be playing a top player no matter what seed you get.

Wait, so Fenix is completely out of the NASL just because he missed one/two series?

Hasu only had a few stalkers at that point. they were blink stalkers and one round of stalkers would have been enough, you have to charge the voids for them to be any good.
Voids are still good uncharged, especially when you outnumber the stalker count with your voids. Also, with armies that big you will never see a pro use their APM to (individually) blink micro their stalkers when the positioning of the rest of their army is much more important. Ace missed his timing, he definitely could have won. Not to take anything away from HasuObs though he still played really solid and deserved the W.

He missed the playoff series so he got a loss and now he's out.
