Took an early morning drive down to Borgata after work on Friday with a buddy of mine, known to many as one of the sickest online MTT grinders(miw210). Had a pretty stressfull week at work so I was looking forward to some nice meals and a few blackjack/poker sessions before my trip to Vegas on Wednesday 6/15.
After checkin, we made a quick stop at the craps table to get the feet wet(learned the game just recently and fell in love right away). Bought in for 500 and was down 150 before the dice came to me. $100 on passline and first roll comes 7. Second roll hits 6, button on, additional $90 placed on 8. Next 4 rolls came 8,10,8 and 6 - table now came alive. Somehow ended up not crapping out for 10+ rolls, table went crazy and a bunch of faces lit up. After finally crapping out, I left with somewhere around +700 and went to lunch.
After lunch, we went straight to the poker room and I sat down @ 40/80. It wasn't long before the game got started 7 handed. The session didn't go quite as expected -- few hands in I pick up 4d6d on button - folds around and I 2bet, called by SB/BB.
Flop:
5d 6s 6 c
Checks around, I bet, SB folds BB 2 bets, I 3 bet, call.
Turn:
7d
Had a moment of dejavu recalling my bad beat jackpot hand @ the sands. (quad 6's / low SF). Was now open ended for a straight flush with the trips, BB bets , I 2 bet, calls.
River:
10s
BB checks with a funny face, I bet and get insta raised at which point I'm wondering what he could have possibly hit. Called the raise and BB flips pocket 10's.
Can't really blame his play except for the river check - never played with the guy before but I'm assuming he had a hunch I wasn't going to check river after raising every street.
A few rounds later, I left the table down around 1.5k. Caught up with a good friend of mine who is a regular 2/5 grinder and had a few drinks.
Shortly after, I headed down to the blackjack tables and sat down at the 100 min table. It was one-on-one action between me and a dealer named Tai who was known as the terminator in the high stakes room(why didn't I request for another dealer? lol). 2 shoes later I'm down roughly 5k bringing the net total for the trip to somewhere around -6-7k. It was one of the sickest losing streaks I've had, losing 13 hands in a row. At this point I was feeling pretty annoyed at the downswing I was having so I took a break upstairs and took a nap.
Woke up a few hours later, and here's where the fun begins.
Refocused myself, let go of what happened in the morning and went back to the poker room for a 40/80 session. I can't really recall any notable hands but the players at the must move table seemed to be extremely passive, folding a bit too excessivly to cb's on the flop. Grinded 2k or so in change and left for the blackjack tables.
Sat down at the $200 min table noticing that one of my favorite dealers was there(Jim). We greeted and he leaned over to tell me that the table was running hot all night with a guy that just cashed out 48k sitting my seat playing 2 handed. I don't mean to be superstitious but I do not recall having 1 losing session of all the times I've sat at BJ in Borgata when JIm was dealing. We start the shoe 3 handed(me playing 2 slots and this other Asian guy sitting across the table). First 2 hands comes AJ / 10 Q dealer showing 6. The next wave of hands were the exact opposite of what happened during the morning -- the dealer could not deal himself a hand to save his life, busting left and right and giving us nothing but 20's and double down hands. Was definately a sweet run to make up for what happened earlier. It was getting late and I was half asleep so I decided to cash out and head back upstairs for some sleep. One of my co-workers(Alan) was coming down to make an appearance during the morning and this is a guy who makes me look like a small time gambler. Clearly I needed rest in anticipation for his arrival.
Saturday 6/11/11
I woke up early to the phone call from Alan telling me that he was on his way. Got up quickly in excitement, took a shower, and headed back down to the same blackjack table. The same Asian guy was there and stood up waving when I started to walk up the stairs into the room. He walked over to greet me asking where I've been. I lol'd. Apparantly he enjoyed my company and thought I had a magical cut prior to the start of each shoe. Soon after I realized that he was the directing manager of the pharm company that produces Plavix(wow?). Anyway, we sit down, order a round of whiskey and began our Saturday morning session. It was up and down for about an hour until Alan arrived. He walked into the room with a big grin, and after sitting down next to me, a sick streak began. I was playing 2 handed at the time betting somewhere between 200-600 per hand and I must have received 4 double down hands within the first quarter of the shoe being dealt. All the double downs connected and we left shortly after to hit up the craps table.
We both bought in for a decent amount and I crapped out on the first roll. The dice then went to Alan and it had begun. For at least half an hour, Alan went on the hottest streak I've ever seen, connecting on every roll. My bets on 6 and 8 were paid off a dozen of times and the pitboss was just simply dumbfounded. After finally crapping out, I decided it was a good time to take profit since I didn't want to ruin the streak. We had breakfast/lunch @ the metro (wish I took pics) and ordered up a storm:
-shellfish plateau(shrimp, oysters, clams)
-oyster stew
-mediterranean salad
-2 steamed lobsters
-shrimp scampi
After lunch, we met up with my buddy who looked like hell (was up all night drinking with no sleep). He wanted to head back so we packed up and checked out. All in all, it was quite a sick weekend and hopefully a preview of whats to come in Vegas. I'm scheduled to leave at 7:25AM on Wed and should arrive around 10 AM CST. Not sure if I will play in the 6 max WSOP event when I get there(starts around noon ) but its either that or the event on Thursday. Will be staying @ MGM -- updates to come.
