So I took it in to best buy hoping to get credit or at least an exchange, (8 month machine crashing daily after reformat.. clear cut case here guys) but this evidence was not enough to sway the geek council. According to their pieces of paper, I had to leave it with them a few days so they can figure out "if its a software problem or hardware problem." I can only assume they are going to use these 72 hours to decipher whether or not a virus remains after a reformat, but I'm still kinda uncertain about whether they'll let me exchange it after all of this. I didn't take it in to be looked at, they just decided to run some diagnostics or whatever.
does anyone have experience with things like this? What should I expect?
