Youre interpreting responsibility in the most non-applicable way possible. An employee has a responsibility to the company, and the company to the customer. If the customer is mistreated, the employee is fired. Its his responsibility to not mistreat the customer, or he gets fired. Fuck all if you don't think thats what responsibility means, the end result is the same; the employee gets fired, and whatever you want to call it doesn't matter.
Your understanding of responsibilities is rather funny. Whats also funny is the fact that you think Artosis wanted to enter the league just to be the worst player. He clearly had the intention to train hard and thought that he could be on a level to compete. Well maybe he overestimated himself. In any case neither he nor the NASL have any responsibilites towards you, they dont owe you shit. Unless they made a contract with you that forbids them to not satisfy your demands for entertainment. I doubt you have a contract like that. You people seem to use the words "responsiblities towards fans, customers, responsibilities towards yourself/themselves" as if there was no difference between them.
Maybe if you did that you would not come across like an ***** that seems to feel that anyone who produces free content for you to watch owes you anything.

Think of it like Artosis bought a guitar. (since the NASL had an entry fee).. Just because he bought a guitar, doesnt mean he has to be a Steve Vai or Joe Satriani in skill in his first year owing that guitar.
Then add ontop he is like a Kurt Cobain. He may not be a good guitar player, but he is popular anyways, so people voted him into the league to give him a chance to show himself as a player. Its obvious he WANTS to win, hes just up against much better players and its hard.
So in other words, if you dont like Artosis being in NASL.. then raise the money, and get enough votes yourself to enter NASL 2 and show us how its done. Artosis has paid a large entry fee and sacrificed a shitload to get in NASL, its not like they just invited him because hes a big name. Was this whole post directed at me or just the first line?
I'm arguing that Artosis being in the NASL is amazing and I watch all his games. I love the guy and have nothing bad to say about him.
If Artosis sucks, then people should be complaining about NASL's responsibility to the fans by keeping "low-skill players" out of their league, not Artosis' responsibility to the fans.

Artosis's responsibility is to NASL and not to the viewers.
NASL's responsibility is to the viewers and its customers. if Artosis does not perform well enough, it is up to NASL whether they consider Artosis a valid candidate to be invited to NASL Season 2 (btw I have no idea how NASL S2's selection process will be determined).
edit: ah I got beat

I tried to fix that for you :-p Maybe if you could add some sparkle effects people would actually read that line carefully^^

You guys are pretty much splitting down the actual meaning of responsibility into different areas of it. On one hand yeah Artosis is responsible for behaving properly and what not while some what representing the NASL by participating in it (What spar and others are arguing for). On the other hand Artosis doesn't have to play like a GOD and make us all enjoy him - that is what Chill is arguing about responsibility wise.
For all the people misusing real life analogies - think about it for a bit and understand it. There are terrible employees everywhere, but they're there because they behave properly but just may lack the skills to be GOOD at their job (This is exactly the case for Artosis and should be interpreted as such)
Also to change the subject a little - I never was really into BW too much but hearing about Artosis' awesome history in BW being a pretty solid player too it seems to me now watching him play is hurting my image of him as a wikipedia of sc2 knowledge when watching gsl casts. I was just wondering anyone else feel this way?

Can someone resume what happened tonight in NASL ? There's a smell of drama but too much posts to sort something clear out of that.

Sheth called SixjaxTerran a bad player on NASL, but he's already been saying that on his stream before his NASL interview.
people don't like Artosis's performance in NASL and started complaining about it. the primary reason for the Artosis invite was to draw attention to NASL, but I guess some people expected more.

Well there were really greate games today and a really good cast. TLO showed some really badass micro vs rainbow and Sheth showed how to play an entertaining ZvP. Well Vibes and Artosis were off there game today, but there was no drama. Only in the LR-thread :-)
Edit: Too slow :/

This whole Artosis argue is getting ridiculous. He has underperformed and so has many others, next season those will probably be replaced or be in better shape. Chill guys ^^

Ok thanks to be so clear and without adding trolling
I already saw Sheth complaining hard about Sixjax on his stream but never really understood why so much hate. For Artosis he is here because people like to see him here, it's nice to see him playing even if he's not at the top level at all, it reminds me of games with Day9 playing tourneys during beta

Sheth doesn't like Terran at all from what I gather, but I don't think he has a problem with the rest of the team. I don't think he likes the company itself however, which is understandable, because they basically are scamming people....
But they support ESPORTS!

Come on guys, there's no mistake here. Most of us supported Artosis going into NASL but we knew there was a possibility he'd do poorly. And while I'm sad, it's fine that he has. He is a huge community figure and given the NASL acceptance criteria he got his chance. If he continues to do poorly, I imagine future leagues will simply not invite him pointing to his NASL results.
And that's pretty much the way it should be. I'd much prefer this, than for NASL not to accept him and the community keeps wondering how good Artosis actually is.
Same thing with Day9, if he ever throws his hat into the ring. I'd WANT to see one big invite league to give him a chance, because he 'deserves' that chance to showcase his skill. And likewise, if he does poorly, then that's the end of that.

Holy shit, people here feel violated that Artosis didn't play well enough to make awesome games happen? You're probably the same people that cry foul whenever a player wins by cheese. Players don't owe the audience shit, all they owe the audience is to try to win, their responsibility is to the league or whatever to turn up and not throw matches, really it doesn't even warrant discussion.
It's a shame Artosis ain't doing well, but then he does have duties to GSL casting which I'm sure eats into practice time a great deal. Especially showed in the failed 4-gate where his timings just weren't well practiced enough
Was kinda interesting to see Sheth call out Artosis and sjTerran, is there any backstory to it? Seemed to just come out of nowhere.
I also really felt the production of NASL has improved a great deal and Gretorp and Incontrol seem to be working better as a pair. Shit on the forums probably didn't help either, but glad to see em pushing through

No, Artosis' responsibility is to himself. Sure it was an invite based on potential rather than actual ability, but once that invite is given out, he no longer has to answer to the NASL regarding his credibility to be in the league. His only responsibility is to himself, in that he should train and try to get better in order to succeed in the thing he is trying to succeed at. I don't know Artosis personally, but anyone who has spent 5 minutes on this site knows that if anyone has a ridiculous burning desire for competition in this game, it is him.
This topic is ridiculous in that people are actually questioning the player's reasoning for playing this game. He isn't in the league to just dick around. He is in it to win just like the other 49. Should we also talk about: Drewbie, MC, Goody, Painuser, Haypro, Axslav, Moonglade, QXC, Vibe, and Rainbow for going 0-2 or 0-3 like Artosis and ask them how they feel about disappointing the league? Every player's responsibility is to put 100% effort into his game and try to win every single one. And that responsibility is to himself.
Showing "entertaining" games to entertain fans or doing well in a tournament to justify the league for his invite should be the last thing on a player's mind.

players have to give NASL a $250 security deposit in order to participate
if they want their $250 back and not experience any deductions, they have a responsibility to NASL to maintain in terms of conduct and participation.
