Edit: Someone pointed out that this *might* contain spoilers about FF5; anyways, you are warned.
So I have been playing some Final Fantasy 5 lately (I am bored, bite me). More specifically, I have been playing the GBA port of FF5.
Anyways, I have been stuck on a boss called Enuo for a very long while. Basically, not only was he very powerful and could inflict a lot of damage, he could apply many different nasty status effects as well. After repeated failures of trying to find any weakness whatsoever on him, I gave up and decided to level up my characters, hoping to eventually overpower him.
So, many hours of grinding later, I mastered all of my jobs and got a lot of levels and HP. Finally I felt confidence enough to take Enuo on again. The beginning was very promising; I was able to take a lot of his attacks with ease. However, he also has a lot of HP, so it was going to be a long fight...
Anyways, after some back-and-forth healing, reviving, and damage dealing, I managed to bring down about 50k of his HP while he failed to put me in a situation that was very dangerous. "Victory is at hand!", I thought. Then he used a spell he never used on me before. Guess which one it was from the screenshot or click on the spoiler:
+ Show Spoiler +He used Level 5 Death. All of my characters were level 65 so I was instantly wiped out.
What a fucking day

Guess you'll have to go level to 66 then (unless 65 is max)
Also I don't think you need that spoiler haha; the title kind of gives it away

The thing is that I am already of a very high level. Going to level 66 will take quite some time. Plus it was very unexpected; I thought I was going to win for sure.

This game was awesome. It would be funny if he had level 6 death as well xD
I love the class system of these series of games.

Holy shit, I thought this was about the company Level 5. You really had me scared.

If anything, the picture needs a spoiler, but I don't think anyone really cares

LOL man, great story. when i first started playing the early FFs I was baffled what the hell this spell was and why it was killing my party. when i eventually found out I didnt know what to think. its ridiculously stupid and can be frustrating to face at times.
when i play older rpgs i usually hop to the internet for walkthroughts with enemy data. its not that im trying to ease my way through the game, but to avoid the very situation in this blog because of stupid spells like this

Just curious - what kind of classes do you have on your party? Or if you meant you got ALL of the jobs for everyone, what skillset does everyone have?
|
I'm playing through this game right now and AH CRAP I just got spoiled hahaha
+ Show Spoiler + I looked at the party and I'm like 'hey where's old guy' and then OH. I'm guessing he dies in some heroic manner and that's his granddaughter taking his place.

Ah FF5, probably had the best job system out of all the FF games, absolutely loved the way you could customise your abilities once you mastered them. This is also one of my favourite final fantasys simply because of that, even if the story isnt as great as other ones.

i never really had a problem with lvl5 death since + Show Spoiler +lenna was kidnapped at the beginning of the third world so there was always a difference in levels between lenna and everyone else

I know that feeling... it's not pretty. >.>

My Bartz and Faris are freelancers with !Spellblade and !Rapid Fire. Actuallt my Faris was using 30% HP
My Lenna uses !Dualcast, !Black, and !Time.
My Krile uses !Dualcast, !White, and !Black.
I am not sure about your background in FF, but the way jobs work in FF5 is roughly as follows. As you master a job, you learn skills from it. For example as you master Bard, you learn skills such as Sing and Hide, which you can use. But the real catch is that after you learn the skill, you can change your job to something else, say a Knight, yet you can still use the Bard's skills (i.e. skills are transferable). So if I mastered all the jobs, I have the entire skill pool available.
Also, as you master more jobs, you will also get passive bonuses. Mimes and Freelancers get the collection of all the passive bonuses from all the jobs I master. Essentially, Mimes and Freelancers are empty slate jobs which don't really have anything of their own (Mimes have a skill called "Mime", but it heavily relies on other); instead they have passive bonuses (as stated above) and rely on skills transfered from other jobs.

+ Show Spoiler +I thought it wasn't a big problem. Most FF games feature many characters. Just because Galuf didn't show up on my party list does not mean he died. Most FF games feature a huge selection of characters, not all which can be in the party at the same time. I think someone who is currently playing FF5 probably played FF4,6,7,8,9,10,12, or 13 before. In that case, seeing that picture probably will give away that Krile is a playable character; but that seriously isn't a huge issue as her playability is fairly obvious. Besides, I think what happened to Galuf does not change the game too much... at least not as dramatic as + Show Spoiler +FF7, which you lose a character, all of her levels, limit breaks, and items; in FF5 all of Galuf's skills and levels are simply transfered to Krile. Of course, Krile's intrinsic stats bonuses are different from Galuf, but that's minor.
