Please talk about the games in this thread. If you feel the desire to rage about something, bottle it up inside you and lash out elsewhere. Thanks! |

Kelly has the potential to be a great commentator. People just need to stop and take a breath. She did fine today, and will only get better.

Well, what to remember of this day?
First, Huk won, and it wasn't even close. It was a clear and deserved victory. It gave me alot of confidence, that huk can go very far and I hope he takes this to the next rounds.
His "na-na-na"-finger was great, that's why I love Huk, he is not your everyday-pro, he is Huk!
Second, a lot of raging of the communities against the casters, or some of them. I think everyone should deserve time, to show what he is capable of, and I think todays casters should have more time to show us if they are great. But I honestly admid, I missed artosis alot today!

Well yes if she fixes her pronunciation and gains some knowledge about SC2. But she does have boobs, thus she'll always have supporters. I mean imagine a guy casting with that level of competence - he'd get eaten alive.

Glad Huk made it through. Not a super convincing performance but he definitely outplayed his opponent. If he can just conquer his nerves then he's certainly able to win this tournament, and get into CodeS.
Kelly is fine. It's just nice to hear another voice for a change. Listening to the same people over and over gets kinda dull.

Yeah. HuK seemed extremely nervous the first game, but luckily his opponent threw away like 10 mutas in exchange for like... 8 probes? Seemed like his blink was pretty late too! That second game was ridiculous though. The force fields by HuK completely turned the game around. Felt a little bad for the zerg :X

Atta boy huk!! Excellent games.
And I loved the interview with John. He was just razzing you.

I don't want to sound too rude, but Tasteless understanding of the game almost semt to be lacking since he agreed with every single thing Kelly said and didn't deliver any special or subtle insights of the game. I don't know if he did that because of courtesy but it was pretty painful to hear.

Is HuK's interview up yet on GOM i don't see it anywhere? I woke up late and only caught the last interview and caught the matches on VOD (10 bucks really ain't bad for a ton of high level games)

I was hoping to read through the match commentary after missing the day due to class but there's so much whining about kelly or something else, I can't even force myself to go through it.
Well, congrats to HuK!

I'm amazed about the level of discussion for todays cast. I haven't followed SC for long, but one has always heard about how nice and cool the SC community is, followed and made up of just cosy teddy bears that just love each other and all. Todays cast truly showed that that is so much bullshit. The core of 4chan seems like a better description.
I use English as a second language, I could follow the cast from start to finish without raising eyebrows over what she said. Sure she said sea-lots and r/l is difficult to pronounce but what the heck. I think she did an tremendous job and stepping out there after the Tasteosis-combo that have been morphed for almost 6 months!
When it comes to her knowledge I think she did an alright job, she was nervous and I think that might reflect it in her first GSL broadcast. I think it's good she tells us the noobish stuff also, but then again don't tasteosis taht also? Explaining what we are to expect out of a 1/1/1, what might happen when the toss has 350 minerals saved up and only one gate, why someone would harass with the first scout, what happens when someone stands close to a Xel'Naga tower or what to expect cross position LT or Blistering Sand. I guess THAT's prolevel commentary for sure!
I at least enjoyed todays cast a lot. Can't wait till next weeks rounds when everyone have settled and she get's warmed up and we can start reading about the matches and what happened instead of 100 pages of forumtroll raging about anything that isn't the beloved Archon.
PS: Fun to see that HUK can deliver even though he was invited and didn't qualify for his spot.

Completely missed this but so glad to see Huk moved on 2-0. This is his chance to show everyone how great he is.

Cmon now , did you really expect him to throw a lady ( who's already hated by many ) under bus at her first day.
+ Show Spoiler +I will laugh my ass off if ( when ) Artosis do that tho haha

There are some forums, threads, and topics (and some people but let's not get into that) where this is definitely true. I would advise you to stay away from these if you can't handle 4chan-level discussion. Everywhere else, TL is pretty good, the best gaming community I've seen.

I'm really really happy HuK won, but I saw a distinct difference in level between his play and the top tier Code-S players. I truly hope that HuK continues winning, as he's one of my favorite Protosses, but I still think he's got a pretty long way to go. Maybe it was just nerves, but his play was far from crisp and it made me a little worried for him.
He clearly outplayed Curious in Game 2, but he won Game 1 because Curious made more mistakes. And with HuK repeatedly making noticeable flaws in his play (letting lings in all the time, using seven force fields when three would do, etc.), the better players will capitalize on them and punish him.
I hope HuK smooths out his play a little more, so he can continue to be confident, win, and do more victory gestures
I'm trying to get used to Kelly's commentating. She's new, so I'm giving her time. Her accent and lack of experience compared to Artosis is currently throwing me off, but I'll be open to her. There's no use in refusing to watch good players just because she's commentating (with Tasteless, right?).

Code S is Tasteless/Artosis as usual.

HuK's games were great today, and really showed he's a class above Code-A imo. Even when behind, he simply outplayed his opponent to take the win.
As for kelly's commentating, I wasn't disappointed. These LR threads used to be FILLED with ranting and bashing of anything and everything. Artosis, Tasteless, Observers, Jason Lee, etc, all have been singled out for mistakes and ripped on. Hell, it seems anything that strays from our norm was predetermined to be bad.
The new obs was bad his first few days, now he is fantastic. Jon's translating started shakey, now he's the most iconic figure of the GSL (sorry tastosis). The mistakes she made over strategy while casting were noticeable, and hard to hear yes, but consider it was her first cast. Comfort will grow, nerves will disappear, and I imagine just from casting with Artosis she will learn tons.
Anything new will start off rocky, and perhaps I'm a bit biased, but her Archon joke completely sold me.

It is normal and we should give her more time, before bashing. It also don't help that the expectations are so high, that is really hard to deal with. For me it is very funny but annoing to hear: K: Those race cars... T: Hellions... K: oh yeah Hellions K: He put down infestation pit so he can infest marines now... T: Fungal them K: You right Even in bronze league everyone knows units and their names thats just how the koreans do it and i love it. whats in a name but smoke and mirrors, or however you say it in english. (especially if you dont even play with an english version)
Theres a German caster (HomerJ) that uses nicknames for units too and not long ago tasteless was calling spine-crawlers giraffes. I dont see the difference. I also remember on their first day of GSL Tasteless and Artosis got a lot of things wrong including not knowing what units were called and using BW names for things.

Thanks for the clarification
So even for those people who have problems with her, we still have half of Tastosis to fall back on!
