When comparing to casters other than the absolute top tier (Artosis, Tasteless and Day9) I think it's fair to say that she did absolutely fine. She just has to watch her voice during battles as it gets kind of screechy. The accent is something she should practice as well.
Regarding knowledge of the game she wasn't bad, but she wasn't super good either.
And I actually think the appearance is important for anyone showing themselves on TV for an extended period of time. It's not the main thing, but she being likeable does help.
I think the hatred is a bit over the top. And I should know, I got temp banned for a comment I made some days ago, critizing her accent. I just hope she doesn't read teamliquid too much. All negative comments would probably hurt her. Including my own old ones. But I like her now  .

Agreed. For me the accent was somewhat bothering during the first 10 minutes then I got used to it, I can't imagine native english speakers having any particular problem comprehending her english.

She did a good enough job imo. She is enthusiastic and tries to be entertaining. She knows enough about the game to be really good, she just needs some time to adapt.
Does anyone remember Tasteless when he first started casting the GOM BW events? That was pretty embarassing. But he improved drastically over time, and now most TL members would kill for the guy to cast their games.
Same for SuperDanielMan. His first casts were awful, and TL raged and screamed. But again, he got better fast, and the Tasteless/SDM duo became pretty popular.
What about John the translator? Remember his first interviews? They were pretty awkward. Look at John now! Flying solo, confident enough to tease Huk on his mistakes, making jokes, and loved by TL.
And the observer who took over Tasteless? How many TL members whined and complained during his first games?
Yet today, he is doing an excellent job and nobody complains any more.
Starting to see a pattern here? Give Kelly some time. She plays at a pretty decent level and she is paired with two experienced casters : she should be perfectly fine real soon.
I am convinced that when she has found her "style" of casting, many on TL will like her a lot.
And I personnally find it refreshing not to hear the same old worn out jokes by Tastosis. Kelly will allow them to find a new dynamic.
Now about the games, I am really glad Huk won convincingly. Even though he can do way better than what he showed today, the series was not even close. Once he gets used to playing in the booth and with that extra pressure, he will really be a strong contender for those Code S spots.

So true. I really really would like that all those haters gonna dissapear from this forum for a long time. I like her effort and i think she allready improved from game to game and is getting more comfortable. Sadly i couldn't watch it live but i'm kinda sad that the interviews are not in the vod's :/ are there going to be uploaded? or did i just miss them.

Thank you sir- that has been the nature and scope of my argument in the various kelly threads. Glad to find a person that agrees. I'll freely admit, she's not stellar, but it's no reason to have emotional meltdown over. From watching the vod's, she's decent and understandable.

First i was all happy that people had accepted kelly to some extend, and was looking forward for johns interview.
So then i figured id buy season pass since i cant watch live. Then i was all bummed down that its paypal thats working the payments. >_> Cant use that shit.

Watched last night's games as VODs today. Gotta say:
a) VODs load faster! It's great!
b) Kelly does a great job casting. In Huk v. Curious, Curious brought a bunch of overlords down into the battle and Kelly said it was "Moral support!" Great stuff.
c) The new GSL maps are awesome. Hoping for some epic games this season.
d) Idra is gone. This makes me sad.

I agree that kelly did a good job. and i dont know the big deal about huks little ceremony. People saying it was super weird and akward but i thought it was... just a ceremony lol

It's not like there are more than a handful of capable SC2 live casters in the world at the moment and even fewer that are willing to live in Korea at moment.
I think she did an okay job, especially for being her first day on the job. Give her time, most commentators were horrible at the beginning and she could only get better from here.
That people here are raging about it is beyond me.

I think Kelly will be perfectly fine once she finds a role. Right now she's switching back and forth between play by play and color, which is what both Artosis and Tasteless do, but to be frank she doesn't have the charisma, or chemistry with her co-caster to do this. I think once she settles in, slows down a bit, and just focuses on one thing and lets Artosis and Tasteless do the other and dial up the excitement she'll work out fine.
That being said her first time out was pretty rough, and there are a lot of things she needs to work on. I think phrasing, and the way she talks about the game are key areas. I noticed she'll finish her (often long) train of thought no matter what, which isn't always good because in Starcraft things can happen really quickly and the person talking sometimes needs to be interrupted to draw attention to them. I think tightening up the way she phrases things and learning at which points in a game you can and can't afford to talk at length about something will go a long way toward improving her casting.

I have searched the forums for any links to watch the GSL games that I missed (@ 4 est) this morning. I was wondering if anyone knows where to watch free VOD's of the code A Round of 32.
I started watching them this morning on GOMtv, but I can't afford the season ticket price to finish watching set's 2 and 3. I'd like to see the original casts with tasteless and kelly.

Kelly did fine as a caster. I don't have any problem with her, but that's maybe cause I expected her to be terrible. Which she isnt.
