I really hope he doesn't get hit by the winners slump. Fortunately he seems much more humble than before, especially explaining his genius marketing scheme of overflowing confidence, but the curse of the first trophy remains!

To anyone that says effort was all "cheesy zergling allins"
Watch the effort vs forGG series at the WCG 2010 Ro16. Polaris Rhapsody, Match Point, and ESPECIALLY Fighting Spirit. My favorite series of my favorite player of all time

Isn't it also so that their parents can take care of it for them? (save/invest/whatever)

EffOrt, Coach Cho, and Hydra. How come there are people who aren't CJ fans?

I suppose that vaguely falls under the first thing I listed.

This interview actually made me a bit of a hydra fan :3

I don't understand this. Did you know that Effort was almost undefeated in ZvP and ZvT (minus Flash) for like an 8 month period in 2009, and even then his only major losses in ZvZ were to Jaedong and during Calm's MSL run? He dropped off at the beginning of 2010 before ninja-ing a Starleague against Flash in which he came back from 0-2. It's ridiculous that because Effort's title came after a short period of time when he was slumping (and after that infamous tiebreaker) that people forget he was INSANELY good in 2009, a period of time in which he was the favorite against everyone other than Flash and Jaedong and even then knocked Jaedong out of GSL (BW edition) S3 and beat Flash in a PL ace match. Hydra's current run, while very impressive (and I'm a huge fan of him), pales in comparison to what Effort did for much longer in 2009. It's just that Hydra's run also coincided with him taking a title, while Effort took his title later than his best sustained run. I think Hydra will continue to be really good and is a legitimate threat in any league (just like Effort always has been) but as of right now if anything it's too early to call Hydra Effort 2.0 yet. I agree wholeheartedly. The Effort I'll remember is the amazing 3rd best in the world, a contender against JD, Flash and a favourite against almost everyone else. He was so good in 2009 and so super cute in interviews and photo shoots. A really nice guy overall and a great player who should be remembered for his entire career, not just the tail-end of it.

You really can't be serious, he carried CJ through proleague for a long time, did well in individual leagues, was the third best player in the world for an extended period of time, and constantly beat flash when no one else could.

The Match Point one was hilarious, apparently drones counter marines when Effort's microing them.

I think I listed a good amount of Effort's best games in this thread, and Harem posted a few more a couple of posts down.

Congrats to Hydra! Nice to see Effort there, cheering on his old teammate/protegee.

money given to parents isnt usually for personal investment. its out of respect to the people who gave you life and raised you.

From what we know, you have practiced for a very long time in the B team . ▲ The team house for B team is separated from the main team and its facility is alot poorer so it was difficult to practice in. When I was in the B team I thought to myself that I must survive here, and practice more than anyone else. I feel like, not just our team, but other teams should also keep the B team system.
This part I didn't get... is he scared the houses will shut down the B teams?
What are you gonna do with the prize money? ▲ I'm going to treat my team to a banquet, and then the rest I'll give to my parents.
I'm still waiting for the day a big esport winner is going to go VEGAS BABY! (Or at least a big Starcraft player... if a Halo player did that in the past... doesn't count.)
=)
Thx for the translation.

My theory is there's really only one true CJ zerg, and he keeps inhabiting the bodies of whomever he feels like. He had a good run with Savior, switched over to Effort cause he was attracted to his alien physique, and then moved on to Hydra for reasons unknown. Effort retired in his prime because he knew the CJ zerg spirit had found a new favorite. He saw what happened to Savior.

Hydra is good. Let's hope he can win another title!
