Last night I got accused of cheating twice, it was the strangest thing. And for the record, no I was not cheating, maphacking, or mineral hacking, I wouldn't even know how.
First was on Blistering Sands, where the guy said I was maphacking within seconds of starting the match (I think when I made my second probe). I spawned in the top position and put my first pylon to the left of my nat so I could block the choke with two gateways, and since I've been getting rushed a lot, I also threw a pylon in the gap, which I cancelled and replaced once (unfortunately, I didn't cancel in time the second time so I blocked myself in). He rushed for roaches and I couldn't hold him off.
He said I maphacked and fell for his fake 6 pool, but note that he accused me of maphacking even before I made my first pylon. WTF? Then he harassed me afterward and insults me. I block him.
I then play a normal game, and then the third game of the evening was on Xel'Naga Caverns, and some guy accuses me of cheating because I magically trapped his scouting drone with my SCVs and he couldn't escape. I then macro my way to a win and he says I'm mineral hacking and calling me all kinds of names I will not repeat and says he can't wait for my race (I spawned Terran but I only play Random) to be nerfed. LOL. I block him.
What was in the water yesterday?!? I can laugh about it now, but it really put me on tilt for the rest of the games I played last night.
Venting over, here's a question or two for everyone. How do you handle it when someone accuses you of cheating? The second guy, I even said "Check with Blizzard!" Also, have you ever accused anyone of cheating during a game, and why/how did you know? I could see after reviewing a replay, but during a match, unless it was really blatant somehow.

I had a guy tell me I was hacking in 4v4 one time. I asked him what kind and he said "maphacks". I told him he was wrong and explained I was using an autominer.
|
They're morons and you should pay no heed to their banter.
|
Happens all the time, you scan, see a startport + tech lab being built. Scan again, see a banshee leave base, so you build a turret or two.. OMFG HACKS WTF HOW DiD YOU KNOW
|
Why do people get so worked up about being called hackers. If you don't hack it's a huge compliment to your play.
They are essentially feeling so outplayed that the only reason they can see for it is hacks
|
ooh boy... I have this friend who plays Combat Arms (Nexon's free-to-play FPS, same guys who did Maplestory) basically every other game is a hackfest, so it's common. He's really really good so he takes these "hackusations" as compliments and even puts up videos on Youtube to shame anyone who accuses him.

@Turgid, yeah, I was using autominers in that third game. They're called MULEs. And I will admit that sometimes when I play against Terran and lose to an overwhelming force and I check the stats after the match and see that my opponent made 1/3 the workers that I made while mining the same amount of resources, I wonder how they did it, but I just figure MULEs, not hacking!
@salito, thanks, glad I'm not the only one this happens to. It's just I've played almost every day since beta and this was the first and second time I've ever been accused of cheating, in a span of less than a half hour. It was just strange.
@PetitCrabe, or you know something's coming because you actually use the Xel'Naga Towers. I've had people ask me how I knew what they were doing and I tell them that and they understand. But in neither of the above cases was I doing anything unreasonable or impossible under normal means. *shrug*
@Myrtroll, I just never been accused, that's all, plus the guys were just abusive. I'm no delicate flower, and I know what the internet's like, but it was pretty bad. Whatever, I blocked them, and hopefully I won't get matched with them.
(I wonder if blocking people prevents being matched to them. I doubt it, but it would suck if someone was making real-life threats to you, and you report and block him, but his MMR is the same as yours and you keep matching up with him.)

Getting accused of hacking in-game is one of the most satisfying things in StarCraft, (assuming you didn't actually do it, of course) since it means you had your opponent beat completely.

That's actually pretty funny.
Edit: One time I actually got beaten pretty soundly and went back to look at the replay. The guy was constantly looking at my base through the fog of war and that's usually a pretty bad sign. I dunno I didn't do anything about it, Blizzard is usually pretty good about that.

@Funnytoss, yeah, that's how I felt with the Xel'Naga Caverns game, since I won, but on Blistering Sands, it was weird because I lost and also because he accused me of maphacking before I did anything meaningful. Oh well.

Someone said I hacked my supply when I had an army beyond 200 food. Pretty petty and sad ;x (I play zerg)

Indeed. If you play as though you have map hacks on, then you are a great player with great "Star-sense." People often say that players like Flash and Jaedong are born with map hacks in their head, which just attests to how skilled they are.
Nothing is more amusing than having someone put effort and passion into raging against you for playing well, though I think it is sad to see people with such anger issues and personal insecurities.

Starcraft no, but FPS yes xD Snipers get no love.

In pretty much every game I play online I will eventually get called a cheater, if I am any good at that game. Happens to everybody, people are noobs or trolls, in either case don't listen to them.
Also, don't be the type of person that calls other people cheaters, or blame your losses on buggy gameplay or anything or you are just as bad.
People just don't want to think that maybe they arn't as good as the other player, so they must be cheating.

This happened all the fucking time back on BW bnet. The difference was that hacking was obvious and rampant there. The most common was the one that made you do a perfect split and the maphax...either one was completely winnable against.
|
Never accused anyone of hacking, although I've been accused 2-3 times in SC2 and a few in BW over the years. Unless it was 100% obvious they were hacking I wouldn't report them.
|
They are just trolling. Trolls are everywhere...so just laugh. If you weren't cheating you have nothing to worry about and try to take it as a compliment (you were just too good).
I have been accused of cheating on Fifa09 (I was just really damn good) twice and laughed.
Best thing of all is beating hackers/boosters themselves, I played a Real Madrid team with Xavi, Ibrahimovic etc in it...imagine how bad they would be if they played fairly!!
I accused xJawz and another guy a few weeks back of cheating on Black Ops because he shot me through 2 walls and didn't even have a spy plane up when I checked in theatre! Youtubed him and realised he was legit. Won 75-74 (My k/d was 3.83 at the time so he met his match) and overall it was a good game.
|
I've had a few "fucking haker, x has left the game" a few months ago...
But recently what I'm getting more and more is the excuse of imbalance when people lose. (I'm Protoss)
But I also get zergs calling me OP when I play Terran....and when I play zerg, protoss AND terran both call ME imba.
Seriously wtf is going on in SC2? December when I stopped playing (like 3rd week in december) pretty much everyone agreed that zerg was strong, colossi are annoying as hell, and T has some options that border OP a good deal.
Now everything is a shit storm of OP OP OP OP........
Did I miss something?

I find it kinda weird that people will accuse someone of cheating. Its BNET and people who left SC:BW went back to play SC2. So ya you should get used to it.
