It's truly a popularity contest, but could it actually become a game of statistics? Could this very race that I want to win so badly become a race of, dare I say it, races?
I'm running for ASB President at my school against a white girl (yes this is actually kinda important). I am aiming to become the 2nd Asian president of all time there, the first being my very own sister who won after campaigning her ass off against one of her closest friends, who too was white. I honestly did not think I would even be close to competing until I thought up the factors in this race of races.
A) No matter what, every Asian in the school will vote for me. Not only that, the Asian club president is a friend of mine and he is already willing to advocate for me to his entire network of connections.
B) I have the captain of the drum line, along with the drum major, able to tell everyone to vote for me. The entire band. That's a LOT of people. Not only that, but they spite preppy people (the girl), and will vote for me even if they don't listen/hear the leaders of their band.
C) My friend, whom I convinced to run for Vice President the day of the deadline, is advocating for both me and him to win in unison, which is something I want to happen. He is VERY well-liked throughout the school and is capable of gathering a huge number of votes for me and him.
D) Think about it. You don't know either one of the candidates. An asian guy or a white girl, who would you vote for? Minorities would vote for the asian guy, and ironically the majority of the school are minorities. And point C actually has turned many of the not-minority votes towards me.
Now, many of these points might seem blunt, but I ran for election last year as ASB Treasurer. I ran against a well-known junior (she's a senior now), who I thought would completely crush me in the polls. Hell, I voted for her too. I somehow ended up winning and realized these points only a year later.
TL, help me out. I'm panicking. If I don't win, I will become a very bitter person like no other. Is there a flaw in my theory? Is there a point I may have missed?

would you mind explaining what 'ASB' stands for?
i'm guessing some sort of high school organization..

ASB - Associated Student Body, or as they called it in my middle school, the Asian Student Body. In other places it's often referred to as the Student Council.
Ryusei, we don't know you nor your school. It's different for everyone. When I was in high school, the ASB president was always white (and female) even though the school was 75% minorities. At this school, the African Americans identified more with the white Americans than they did with the Asians, and the Latinos did not get along with the Asians for the most part.
I don't know what to tell you except... Good luck, hope you win and be a good President.

oh student council. back at my high school the officers were almost exclusively asian despite us making up only 3% of the population. nobody else cares enough (hint: rural texas)

You could hire some TL'ers to guard the poll stations, and make sure no fraudulent voters(hint: opponent votes) cast a ballot.
Of course if TL is hired to help and you do win we expect to have some of our political platforms recognized.

lol, I'm ABS president in my school but it was pretty much forced upon me.
I know that it looks good on your resume for college but seriously, I did not know competition like this existed outside movies. The fact that all the Asians will vote for you is so racist I do not know whether to laugh or cry. As I said, on my school I was forced into the position as president and my school is one of the best ones in Sweden, the best in my city.

Hmm for some reason I feel you weigh ethnicity too much as a crutch?, maybe spend more time thinking about your campaign's appeal to different types of students and their respective demographics and anticipating & countering the opposition's forte.
People will say they will vote for X but end up not voting at all. Make sure this doesn't happen to you. A person who has supports you, but ends up not voting = totally meaningless.
My 2cents and GL.
EDIT: You weighing ethnicity into effect is good but don't make it your crutch or whatever. White girl vs. Asian guy = I would just vote for the person who seems to deserve it by actions (disregarding popularity/race/grades/status/whatever)

Do you even have any plans for what you hope to achieve if you are elected? Why do you want to win, anyways?
You mention your sister winning, what did she do on the job?

Seriously I dont get the importance of all this crap anyway! ASB?!??! Lololol... but I guess maybe its important as balls in the USA. So, GL with it but lemme be the first to tell you something thats gonna come to you after the "polls" : that there are bigger things to do and worry about than this ASB nonsense....Really

Sorry man, but if they see both of you, you don't deliver some good speech, and she is hot... They will most likely vote for her.
