Occasionally, having my hosts file edited with the ad servers here will block some TL ads near the top of the page. I'm almost positive it's the hosts file because I have my adblock disabled for TL, and it only happens every now and then. Is there some way to edit the hosts file in such a way that it only redirects the ad servers to 127.0.0.1 for sites outside of TL?

nope the hosts file is indiscriminate if you block a google ad server which is where most of the ads for tl are from you block it on off of your Internet even in game ads can be blocked if you put those servers on a hosts file. As it is a 3rd party signal there is little the hosts file can do that can tell it that it's coming from TL vs another site.
