Editor's Note: Tourney's over! Spoiler's below!
Introduction Welcome to the first ever NeoGAF Starcraft II tournament of 2011! Over a month in the making, after the huge splash NeoGAF made bringing their A-game and F-game to Wednesday night Starcraft II GAF nights, we finally have the first tourney of 2011 to help decide who really has what it takes to top GAF in arguably the best RTS of all time! In this standard single elimination tournament, 8 players were invited based on their activity and skill shown in the past couple of months in Wednesday night GAF SCII nights. Out of the 8 invited, 7 have accepted the challenge, while 9 registrants have decided to try and show they are a force to be reckoned with as well. Out of the 16 players, who will be named king of SCII GAF? These 3 weeks will tell. So please, GL HF and have a GG!
Tourney Information: -First Prize is a 'Moe Queen' mouse pad by none other than Pandaman himself! -In addition to above, winner plays a show match with Sheth! -Brackets are seeded by ladder rank based on points.
VODs: -VODs: http://corran.blip.tv/ -Replays: http://www.askcorran.com/replays/
RULES: 1. Two (2) maps are selected by both participants of a match, and initial map and a losers map. Initial map is decided on a coin toss between both choices of the players, and losers map is played when obviously a player loses a match. Also no map may be played twice in the same match. 2. If you do not show up online in Starcraft II to play on the day of your match you will be disqualified, no questions asked. If you cannot make it please notify me ahead of time to see if we can accommodate you for more time. 3. Players must declare their race before a match begins, they may not change mid-set. They may change each round though (Ex: Ro16 -> Ro8). 4. Typing 'gg' into chat means you forfeit the match, even if it was intended as a joke. 5. If the players are on NeoGAF's Mumble server you must deafen yourself before the match begins, this does not mean moving to another Starcraft II group.
(Brackets Last Updated: January 27th)
See you guys at the NeoGAF OPEN coming soon!

the finals is me versus a gold league zerg. >_>
i roll a zvz for a chance to get rolled... in a zvz!

I'm well aware, but having the games turn out to be good (Esp Panda vs Vautrin game 3) was awesome.

man, rewatching game 3 and it looks so sloppy on my part, no ups, room for a 4th, production freezes during muta harass, not my best at all. it being a game 3 combined with those banshee/hellion defense fails really rattled me.
twas not pretty, thank the overmind for banelings and queens and for junk yard, the closest thing to a zerg favoured map blizzard will ever make. that gold is a zerg lifeline in the lategame and a deathsentance to terrans.

Wait what? That totally ruins the whole credibility of the entire tournament and the organizers. I mean, the finals are basically a farce. Please, next time seed properly:
example for 8 players:
1 v 8 2 v 7 3 v 6 4 v 5
The awful seeding makes the Finals well... not worth watching, doesn't take a seer to know the outcome.

this was one of those things that happened just for fun, then suddenly attracted interest and small prizes, so as i hear it there will be another larger one that will be more legitimately seeded.

Next Tournament should be better. This was just the first so seeding is still being learned and corrected but next time it will be alot better with more people.
