I actually think this is why I don't get any better at brood war. I have a hard time GGing when I lose from a moderately behind position, because I often feel like I could have played better than I did so it's more a frustration at myself than a rage at the other player. Maybe if I GGed more often I would feel more professional, which would make me more pro. (Get it? professional = pro :D)
I also always try to GG with capital Gs because Bisu does it a lot.
GG enter alt+qq

Normally I don't type anything win or lose.

I always feel a little bad when I've accidentally hit caps lock during the game and then GG in caps. "No, wait! I'm not yelling at you! Too late..."

Some people agree with you and some agree with me and Thermia. I'm not going to try to convince you, and you shouldn't try to convince us. That's not what this thread is for; there's other threads which's purpose was for debating that. This thread is simply to say where we stand, not why we think so.

Every once in a while my dad comes in and almost catches me playing...
At that point I alt-f4. Hopefully no one thinks I'm being BM....which is probably usually the case.

You make it sound like SC2 is some hardcore porno. What does your dad have against SC?

I always gg, but it pisses me off when people don't GG back.
I understand your opinions, but not GGing back is basically saying, "you suck, gtfo."
-___- many times I have raged because people wouldn't gg back.
meh.

There is nothing angelic about typing gg.

I gg as part of a ritual. Yeah, it doesn't mean anything, but it helps me calm down when I get all-in'd or cheesed so that instead of insta Find Match again I can try and learn something. Whether it's a way to position my buildings differently or control issue to hold off that certain cheese better. Just helps me focus, I don't know why. (Habit probably)

I never fail to GG and never nerdrage at my opponent. The beauty of bw is that it's on you, if you win, that's yours, you earned it. Same if they win.

what pisses me off are people who leave the game immidiately after they've lost and then chat with you about what an asshole you are for not writing back gg in like 2 seconds. didn't mean you but it happens alot to me

I always gg because I don't attach any meaning to it, but other people generally like receiving a gg. I lose nothing and it makes a random person slightly happier, so why not? No need to be a dick.

In addition to what Grobyc said, my typical ritual, if you will, for losing is to type out a gg + what I feel I did poorly or my opponent did well in the game if we had a decent game of back and forth, a good transition out of a failed cheese/rush (or a new way to make a cheese succeed that I hadn't seen before), or whatever else might have made the game "good." If the game wasn't very good, I'll probably guess aloud the reason why I lost to my opponent before quitting and let them confirm, deny, or whatever they want. Just because I don't actually type "gg" doesn't make that disrespectful, I feel. Say I lose mid-game because my macro was just horribly off and I had 2k/1k banked somehow and he came and steamrolled me. Those games to me are as disappointing to lose or even win (it's difficult to learn what you could have improved on if you just smashed the other guy) as they would be to watch, and, in my opinion, don't deserve to be called "good" even as a concession before leaving.
On the other hand, as a winner, I will type "gg" if my opponent does so as a response, and additionally "wp" if the game was in fact well played from my perspective. It's just how I feel both phrases should be used, that's all.
|
I always say gg, but sometimes I'm like "gg >.> I hate XX build"
|
I gg in probably 99% of my games. Some scenarios like getting DT'd five times in a row and somehow not scouting it resulting in a loss pisses me off too much. I just wanna get to the next game as soon as possible.
I do however type wp when I get absolutely owned when I think I played well.
|
i always gg unless the guy beats me with some cheesy gay shit. then i proceed to rage at him and then leave. lolz

I think we should respect our opponents because at the end of the day, we all are sc2 fanatics.
I mean, we might spend a good 30 minutes playing with someone, not necessarily talking, but controlling little units in a virtual world, interacting.
