Were Incontrol doing a community lesson you could argue that it is open to everyone and therefor SC2 general material. This is an individual lesson, though, and even with it being open to the whole community to watch, it's still at heart an individual lesson. Blog material, not SC2 General (I can understand the argument for having it remain in SC2 General, I just don't agree with it) On December 14 2010 05:52 Manifesto7 wrote: People posting about what they will be streaming is not an acceptable thread for the SC2 section. If you have a special event happening, have it added to the calendar or blog it. Obviously the info is good to have out there, but we provide many resources for this stuff, and making a shallow thread in SC2 is not a good use of them. Moved to blogs. I'm like a psychic

Is he supposed to put it on the calender or something instead of making a thread? Might help if you spell out what you want. Streams been crashing but I'm still glad I can get a glimpse of whats normally pay content for free. edit: Thanks manifesto for explaining

It would be pretty helpful if there was a sub-forum or some other means to announce things like this. Setting up an event needs advanced notice and if something spontaneous happens you miss out.

Despite what Incontrol chooses to see, I have been closing all threads relating to "I am currently streaming __________" - Coaching hasnt entered the equation. People will obviously realize that opening a thread about streaming something means more viewers, and everyone will end up with "I'm now streaming ____ - come look". That's why we have descriptions by the streams and why we allow users to associate threads with streams in the User Streams section.

Obviously, this thread was moved because it was actually useful. Good threads have no place in the SC2 forums D: This is a pretty sick free lesson. I now know exactly how and when to get on my horse in pvz.. =P I'm assuming the Day9 thread is a little different because he was consistently streaming on a daily basis before the thread went up?

But quite frankly I'd rather see information about streams in SC2 General than a 200page cluster fuck about the latest patch non-issue or a new survey on language use etc.... This is a really cool stream that I would have definitely missed if it wasn't for this thread in general. The calendar and user streams thing doesn't really work because there's no TL viewer feedback. With the threads if they're good they get bumped lots, if not they die fast. I can't be the only one that thinks like this.

As for the OP whose lesson it was, I think InControl's evaluations were right on and sometimes you beat yourself up more in certain situations (like with that speedling runby). It's sometimes more psychological than actual damage (because who *doesn't* think, "Not THIS shit again!" every time lings get into your base?), but his critical assessments of what to fix with the rest of your strategies were really profound too. Good stuff

Yeah, and I need to see a million-and-one threads about random BM instead of a professional lesson. What helps the community more? Do people visit SC2 general to mess around or is it to actually benefit them in the game? I know why I go there. I guess it depends on the individual.

and ye, i would have missed it 100% if it was listed on streams, one can't really check the crazy amount of random streams all the time hoping to catch this kind of very rare community service content that isn't categorizable as an event per se, so while i totally agree with chill's point, i think there have to be some allowances made for this type of content if the context allows for it, aka acceptable deviations from the set rules
