hey guys, i just got a pain in my hand and forearm just now that i've never really felt. it starts on the upper part of my hand near the wrist and travels along my forearm and stops just below my elbow.
Is this an early sign of carpal tunnel? it's my keyboard hand and i always thought it was the mouse hand that was at risk. any info would be great.
When I don't do anything, i feel discomfort in my forearm along the top of my arm and a slight pain come if I make a fist, if i spread my fingers real wide i feel discomfort in my hand and forearm right above my wrist (hand) and right below my wrist (forearm)
so please help cuz im kinda worried. I literally just started feeling this 10 minutes after i finished a game of sc

Unless you have tingling/numbness in your middle, index, thumb its probably not carpal tunnel. Nevertheless, if you are worried and would like peace of mind its best to just go see the doctor.

I have somewhat of a carpal tunnel case, and the only way to deal with something like this is rest, exercise and moderation. If you are still feeling pain take a couple of days of SC. Do something else, nothing too hand and wrist extensive. You can try using stretches and whatnot to cool down the pain. The pain you are experiencing is either carpal or cubital tunnel or a mix of both which is sort of what I face. Dont panic and go crazy thinking you hand is dead or whatever. Just take a couple of days rest stretch your wrist and arms every now and then. The pain will probably go away after a small amount of times, it depends on each person. I am playing SC2 everyday for long hours and my condition is very manageable, so just take it easy for a while.

I had similar problems, too. What helped the most where stretches whenever possible. But don't stretch too hard, so that you feel a discomfort but no real pain.
Most of the time the problems come from the forearm flexors or extensors. To find out which of them are affected try to flex you wrist against resistance. Another test is to lay your hand flat on a table and try to press only the middle finger against the table. If this doesn't hurt touch your middle finger from above with your other hand and try to lift your middle finger against the force of the other hand.
If you feel some pain from these tests try to google for tennis elbow (forearm extensors) or golfers elbow (forearm flexors) and you will find some stretches which could help you.
I just remembered a page which helped me. The page looks funny and the english is kinda bad, but it has some good info: http://www.airbed.ch/tennisarm/.

Google your symptoms and see a doctor please. TL is not a good place for medical advice.

Dont google anything or look on the internet, just go see a doctor.
I had something some time ago and when I googled it I was so freaked out I went immediatly to see a doctor and he told me its nothing

I started to get similar pains as you TS but since I started to stretch and do some exercises before I sat down at the computer I don't feel any pain anymore. I suffer from cold fingers a lot more than before though. Just unavoidable since I am a guitarist + that I play a lot of SC2.

OP:
Likely pronator teres syndrome.
SEE a professional -- orthopedic doc or physical therapist -- about this to get it solved.

That's ulnar nerve.... I get some impingement if my hand is on the mouse too long.
basically what I did was supinate forearm, radial deviate, then flex and extend the wrist... helps blood flow and untingles.
The fact that you let it go until it was numb not such a good idea. Peripheral nerves grow back but if you dont get to the root of the problem they wont..
Nerve glides help guys:

If Huk's serious he needs to take a break and see a doctor. You can't be a GSL champ if your finger stops working.

That's definitely carpel tunnel, you probably want to go see a doctor because it could do bad things to your career. As a musician I try and take good care of my upper body because I kinda need my hands.

yea but no pain no problem at least for me, and i dont mind the numbness its not like my finger isnt working just the tip is numb ^^;
