Hey guys, I'm a 28-old guy from germany who has been playing quite a lot of SC2 lately. For those who care about ranking, I am (only) Platinum level Zerg, but doing quite well there and hoping to get promoted soon. At least my win-loss ratio is quite ok (around 57%).
Since it is always nice to share thoughts on things you like, as I do SC2, i decided to start to blog here every now and than when something happens that stay on my mind and that I like to share.
For today I absolutly know what I want to say, because sth has been up my mind since yesterday evening. I was playing at about 4 o'clock (at night), the game started on Lost Temple with me being Z and the other being P.
I sayd my usual: hey hf He responded: f u !
So, although this doesn't hurt me or anything I really really wonder what is going on in these peoples mind. I mean, if you like doing sth, like playing sc2 and it's late at night and the other one prbly also likes playing then where is the point of beeing so unfriendly? You obviously share the same interests, could exchange opinions or at least battle each other hard :D
I really don't get the point of it. And he continued beeing rude. funny enough he was a unbelievable bad player or at least his PvZ sucked heavily. I wasn't pressured until i had my 3rd base up and fully saturated which already made me a smile. And then, when my mutalisks (large numbers of course, as he hadn't put me under any pressure at all) hit the back of his base he kept bm-ing be, saying that mutas don't need skill or micro or anything. He lost miserably within the next 5 minutes
So why are ppl like this? Is it frustration? I rly don't know, but I hope to meet more friendly ppl in the future and not too many of the bm-ing kind. Cause hey, it's just a game and I wanna have fun playing it!

Some people have bad manners to compensate for their lack of skill.
There's really no reason to be bad-mannered in a game; you can always learn from losing (or winning).
Cool post

Eh, some people are just idiots. Don't worry about it. :D
|
Ah, I do it sometimes. The thing is, I'm never serious, and by the end of the game, I usually let up and show the guy that I was just screw-balling around. However, there are some people that have large egos and feel entitled over everybody else. So he may fit into that group, or he's got friends watching and laughing together with him, or he's drunk and just dicking around. Don't worry about it at all. Chances are that his real intentions were not harmful.

Most of us aren't like that, so don't worry! You'll get a few idiots on ladder though, most of them BM at the end of a match - just tell them to stop crying. =)
If you're looking for a good group of people to practice with who won't BM you, check out the practice partners thread. There's probably a few BM'ers in there, but all the people I've added have been pretty cool guys. =)

Haha, he just opened up with a " fuck you ". Wow.

Just think that bm people are mostly shallow nerds with no social skill who discharge their frustration while protected by their screen. It's sad for them, and that's it. No need to care about it.

The goal of insulting someone right off the bat is to distract them from playing by making them wonder why you are such an asshole.

Yeah, I hate when anyone says anything to me besides "gl hf" or "gg", unless the game is basically over already. If you ask me how my day was when I'm trying to not screw up building my first 5 workers on time, yeah, I have the time to respond, but do I really want to? Am I sure I'm not going to need to touch my keyboard for the next 3 seconds? Are they genuinely being pleasant or just trying to throw me off? If he's being nice and I don't respond, do I look like a jerk? Ah, screw it, I'll say "things are good, you?", and then once I do I realize my scouting probe is dead and my core is late... On the other hand, if I researched charge instead of blink by mistake, wait for "upgrade complete", send an observer into a turtling terran's base, and try to blink up 30 stalkers, then stupidly watch them all die in a low-ground clusterfuck of tank fire while I keep hitting B, then I'll start up a conversation, because Jesus, what else can I do... (Yeah, did that this afternoon.)

But don't assume that everyone is trying to gain (in your terms) 'unfair' advantage through this method. Some people just want to strike up a small convo before the actual game begins in order to relax a little (to ease the tension).

Hey guys, thats some nice feedback you gave me here thanks a lot, I'll be writing again soon

if you have a real problem with it just block them. I usually just respond with "haha" or "lol" or maybe "cute" though. Easy to type, and hard for the other guy to follow up on.
The important thing is to not let it affect your build/plan at all. The few times where I've thought to myself "ok F#&^head, now you're gonna get it for saying that", I'll change my build to some lame cheese or 4-gate all-in and screw it up. Stick with the plan and scout for cheese. The guys who hurl insults right off the bat are usually bad in my experience. Again, block them if it gets distracting. It's not like they're gonna say anything you need to hear anyway.
