Wow that brings up lots of mixed emotions for me. My ex-gf of 3 years and I did things very similarly, with quite a long build before finally managing to finally admit our feelings. The nostalgia is mixed with the feelings of disappointment that it ended somewhat bitterly after such a long and happy time. Although I feel it was just one more unavoidable thing in life, to have loved and lost, I wish the best for you as being in love throws such a content blanket over all your experiences.
