Hello!
I go under the nickname of SunTzu, and recently we were given the chance to do a project in school. The project could be almost anything, as long as the teachers felt it had a purpose and it would be hard enough.
I'm 18 years old, and as any nerd I took the chance to combine this school project with my hobby. So basically, after some jedi mind tricks were used on the teachers, I managed to get them to allow me the project of attempting to become a progamer. The project itself however, is more centered around us making a documentary out of my quest.
I currently am quite the amateur at starcraft 2, although I am in diamond league, I was at around 1100 rating when I started this project today, which is quite low.
Since TL is full of people like me, I thought it might be interesting for both me and fellow liquidians if I shared my experiences with you!
So, for this I have some questions for the community:
Would any high ranked players be interested in helping me?(if so, message me in-game on SunTzu.438 or post here/PM me! :D)
Also, this ofcourse:
Poll: Would you like to follow my progress? No (29) 38% No, but I would watch the documentary once it's done (23) 30% yes, via blog updates on your progress, here on TL (18) 24% Yes, I would follow you through all of the above!!(You're hardcore<3) (3) 4% Yes, via Stream (2) 3% Yes, via weekly/monthly replay packs (1) 1% 76 total votes Your vote: Would you like to follow my progress? (Vote): No (Vote): Yes, via Stream (Vote): Yes, via weekly/monthly replay packs (Vote): yes, via blog updates on your progress, here on TL (Vote): No, but I would watch the documentary once it's done (Vote): Yes, I would follow you through all of the above!!(You're hardcore<3)
If you have any ideas for the documentary, or any feedback whatsoever, please do post!
Thank you!
Edit: obviously, I play on the EU server, so US players who would like to help, thanks, appreciate the thought, but sadly you wont be able to :<

I'll follow you til the end of time!

Yes, I will follow it.
Thinking about it, I'm actually going to be filming it.
Disregard this post.

I'd read your blogs, but I'd also like to watch the final product.

What will you tell them if they asked you: "In terms of percentages, how close were you to achieving your goal?"
Well, since I'm a BW fan, I know a quest like this would be literally impossible in the allowed time frame. However, since this is SC2, I don't know, perhaps a couple weeks?
Haha, I'm j/k

Make sure you enter every tournament possible, don't focus on ladder too much.
I'd watch the finished product, good luck yo!

What do you mean when you say "progamer"? Do you want to compete on a level where you can make money? I think your documentary could potentially be quite interesting if you invest lots of effort and are smart about it. Would be interesting if you posted your plan how to achieve this.

First off, big thanks to everyone for the feedback so far, I will make sure to read every single post and take all of your criticism seriously!
Progamer might be an exaggeration, basically it's all about seeing how far I am able to take this, if I manage to make some money out of it(which probably is too hard with the sick competition we have today, but I will try my best), then that is good, but we will start with a few goals, and make up new ones along the way as we see me progressing.
The first goals we come up with is:
Achieving rank 1 in my diamond division(current rank one in my division is 2.5k points)
Attempt to qualify to the DreamHack-tournament.(via the BYOC-qualifier, this one will probably be really hard, since there is like 16(?) days until DH, which means little practice.)
I will also be participating in as many online tournaments that I can, and post my progress there.
So far, I am leaning towards making blogs, I can not tell for sure how often I will post, as I want to make sure every blog post is entertaining and has some content. (I don't want to post just "hey, today I did 20 games, I won 10, my rating is X, cy@)
I will also try to set up a stream, as it might be interesting to some people!
I will make a post, probably tommorrow, with more details! I just wanted to see if there was any interest!
Once again, thank you so much for the feedback, much appreciated!<3

If you make it to Dreamhack i'll watch if you stream from there (before/between games). ^_^
Good luck!

I'de rather have YouTube vods than streams because I don't live in Europe and I don't watch ANY streams, too laggy 75% of the time for me =(
|
Oh so this is how you get high level players to train you. ^_^ Must try.

The only way to achieve this in such a short amount of time is with really crisp methodology, the kind Liquid'Tyler is famous for. No disrespect if i'm stating the obvious. I know that there is excellent material on this in the 'old' Broodwar forum which applies to Starcraft 2 as it does to BW, i wouldn't know what to look for specifically though or where to find a good compilation. The obvious underline is to have an exact plan of what you want to train and to keep the focus to stay true to your plan.
