example: I want to get out 10 roaches, 4 zerglings, 2 infestors and a hatchery in the shortest time possible. Is this a valid input to your optimizer? Yes. Impressive. In order to maintain a decent economy, can you specify a number of drones? - how does this incorperate with this current amount of drones? Will it factor in the increased resources that come with these drones? Does it factor in oversaturation (pretty hard to do I guess) example: I want to get out 10 roaches, 4 zerglings, 2 infestors, a hatchery, and 30 drones. Will these 30 drones be factored in to the income rate? Will it add 30 drones to the amount of drones in the previous example (10 roaches, 4 zerglings, 2 infestors and a hatchery)? Or will it count the amount of drones from before (if this makes sense)? 1 More question: is it possible to put a higher priority on certain units: - using the previous example; obviously getting the 30 drones out first would result in the fastest time, but it would be unrealistically unsafe. So could you put priority (or something) on the 10 roaches some how?
You may specify a number of pretty much anything. It can determine if it needs more drones than you have specified to make it faster, same with things like overlords, etc, and it does factor in oversaturation.
It will only seek to the number you specify, so it will build 24 drones plus any used to make buildings.
Right now, there is not a way to put a priority on certain units. That is in the list o' things to do.
I just put in the ability to remember old builds it did, so it can use those old builds as ideas for the new builds, and copy them to the point where they become unreasonable.

I just did a trial run. Doing your build I got 6 roaches out in 4:46 and the 7th popping at 4:59. Then I tried doing it using the extractor trick and got the 7th one out at 4:50.
*edit* Just to add, I did it both on Steps of War in the same spawning locations.

I would definitely want to see something like this. I don't see how anyone could not.
I would achieve the same results by trying out build orders, over and over again, perhaps using YABOT and spamming -r until I get what I want. This just makes that easier.

Ooh. Extractor trick. I'll put it in there as a possibility. Hopefully will come out with a new result. :-)
Thanks!

Tried again with extractor trick and got it down to 4:47 for the 7th one popping. I will give your build another go to see if I can get it closer.

Regardless, I don't think anyone would have guessed that you could feasibly get 7 Roaches in ~4:50. It's mildly ridiculous to be honest.
Also, OP, when do you think we could get our hands on this thing? The possibilities are amazing.

I am not trying to prove him wrong, just giving some friendly information.
*edit* Also like to add I just got the non-extractor trick method to work just as fast +/- 0.5sec

Well. I've just tried this out in a 2 zerg vs 2 terran game. It did not work too well; the terran players had tons of marauders. After the game, my ally sent this to me nice message:
beso: ur fucking terrible beso has reconnected. beso: FUCKING TERRIBLE You: lol you are funny The player is ignoring you.

I don't think there's any reason why releasing something like this would ruin the game.
Professionals already figure out the fastest way to get to where they want. If proteams don't already have private versions of these, they just trial and error it until they figure it out. At best this would just shave some time off of their 12 hour training days.
Where it would really help would be with us hobos who are decent players but can't invest the time into figuring all the ins and outs of a build out and can't practice hours upon hours a day.
And at the end of the day, what makes a good player great isn't their ability to execute a build order to the letter, it's their ability to adapt to unseen issues as they arise, which a program like this won't be able to teach you.
Besides, you know some other coder will make the thing sooner or later.

Although it is nice to know the fastest way to get a certain number of units (i.e. banshee or dt), I would be more interested in how many drones can I get away with while building certain units by a certain time. This way I can test my build vs. different openings and see if I should be just letting some drones die to harass or actually investing in defense for the best economy. I suppose I could just type in how many drones I want into the program until I get an optimal time, but drone optimization would be much better for me. Hope to see this out soon hehe.

lol i like how you pretend this will singlehandedly destroy sc2 as an esport or something.

I'm starting to fall in love with every post Beef Noodles makes, one after the other.

can anyone post a replay who tired the fast 7 roach build if its really possible to get around 4:50 or something

Wouldn't that suck? I'd feel pretty bad. Like, even if I reached even sAviOr or Yellow's level of damaging e-sports, I'd feel pretty bad.

Try Ovie on 9 if you're really interested in fractions of a second. Hasn't that been shown to be the best choice in practicality?

It found a way to make it one second faster! (Note, this is far less an econ build.)
I'm going to throw in the 5 muta build that someone was talking about and let that run overnight.
