What i like : detective stuff, drama ( NO LOVE SH** PLZ ), sometimes action like Black lagoon. Violence. And would be cool if anime is finished already, not on-going like naruto or smth like that.
What i saw so far:
death note ( my fav) black lagoon ( nice action and stuff like that, realy liked characters ) code geass ( nice too, but im not realy into mechanic things. )
Darker than Black S1 <--- Probably one of the best of this genre Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex <--- Another good one Ergo Proxy Noir Phantom ~Requiem of the Phantom~ <--- A tiny bit of romance but still noir/action mostly Baccanno! <--- A bit lighter and more humorous, but still dark/violent enough, interesting episodic structure Durarara <--- Similar to Baccanno in structure Madlax <--- If you like obnoxiously slow pacing
first one is 1995 and second 2004 correct? looks awesome serious anime atlast :S
No, S1 is 2002 and S2 is 2004.
The original manga/film adaptation is 1994~1995 ish
The two anime seasons were good but my impressions of the movie is that its one of those critically acclaimed and innovative classics that everyone recommends is outdated compared to other modern ones. But hey, it's only 1~2 hours and you def should give it a shot if you have time.

It's intelligent, the premise isn't too weird, and the story's pretty good even if it gets kinda confusing at times.
Edit: My god Gohan wa Okazu is a catchy song. Can't get it out of my head.

Highschool of the Dead anime ended and I'm soo fucking pissed right it's not even funny

Don't. Even. Go. There.
It's like saying Jojo is intelligent because it teaches you about martial arts.
Just, don't.

So... like a psychological thriller or detective/logic type thing?
Paranoia Agent: It's one of those shows that has a big picture psychological outline to it, that reveals itself as the show goes on. I remember watching it purely to learn more about the story due to how contained it was.
DEATH NOTE: Everyone has pretty much mentioned it already.
Detective Conan: It's REALLY LONG. To my knowledge, it's not done yet, spanning about 200+ episodes now, I believe. The episode format is essentially 1 episode to provide the scenario of the mystery, and the following episode would introduce the solution/arrest, if applicable.
Lupin III: I actually haven't watched it, I've heard its more or less a comedy more than it is a mystery show. Like Detective Conan, it's really long.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (either season): People have mentioned it already, it's pretty well known. I don't think I have to really go into it anymore than everyone already has.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I get the feeling I'm missing something similar to Paranoia Agent, but I can't recall the name of it at the moment.

kara no kyoukai
the more smart you are ( or you think you are ) , the more fucked up you will be after watch this .

Legend of the Galactic Heroes really shines in its political dialogue, narratives, character development, and the battle tactics themselves. Has a lot of interesting characters and is really 'intelligent' imo.

So HotD is done. I guess the series was okay, but it's not something that I'd choose to watch again. It's gonna be a looong time before a sequel comes out. Heck, they just finished the shopping mall arc in the manga, and I don't think that's enough material to fill twelve episodes. By the way, Alice is the best character and you know it.
There are rumors of more Kampfer.

A word of warning if you decide to watch this: there'll be little details that will make Kara no Kyoukai confusing as hell until about the fourth movie. Then things will really click into place and you'll realize just how awesome the series and Type-Moon is.

I dunno I suppose HOTD was ... ok. I'd give it a 5/10 Nothing spectacular just IMO. Certainly not on the level of Code Geass or something.

Hmm so that is why I didn't really like it when I watched the first movie. I guess I'll watch up to the 4th movie and see if it gets better.

The unfortunately thing is that the movies took out a huge chunk of what make the novel so compelling. Ecael and I would be more than happy to fill you in if you're interested afterwards, just post in this thread or PM us and you'll get fanboy ramblings. :p

I'd say that HotD was okay and enjoyable to watch. That simple fact easily puts it over Code Geass, which existed only to troll the people who were watching it, and trick them into thinking it was good.

Don't be such a tool. HotD was no way near Code Geass, and I'm not a fanboy or anything. Enjoyable to watch? Ikkitousen was also enjoyable to watch, right? Grow some self-respect, dude.

Detective Conan is a cute mystery manga/anime. I think there are about 570? anime episodes and close to 750 manga chapters.
The problem with the manga is that, well, there is a stroyline/plot you see. But it's wraped thickly in what I have come to call "filler" mysteries. The main character solves mysteries not related to his own along the way. It gives a lot of character development for 2nd plan heroes, and introduces new ones, which in turn makes the whole setting feel more realistic. The downside is, the story is retardely long now... and it doesn't seem like it's going to end any time soon.
But, if you're a long time reader and a fan, you'd notice some things about the direction of the manga, and how it's subtly changing =) like + Show Spoiler + 1) Conan seems to be less and less prudent about hiding his identity. He's showing his Shinichi side more and more, and even though he fooled Ran a lot of times, he's getting almost careless now. I hope we get another Ran/Conan confrontation soon ^_^ 2) The Black Organisation chapters(related to the main story/plot) are becoming more and more frequent. At the start, there were 200 chapters between the BO chapters, then 150, 100 and now around 50 . \o/ Hurray for more main plot!!!!
I absolutely love DC.

Week after week, that show would just come up with bullshit to feed to its fans, trying to present serious things in the most hilariously bad way possible. Or just trying to be a "wtf-didn't-expect-that,-this-show-must-be-good!!" type show. As if every week, the creators sat down and were like "Hmm, what should we shit out of our asses THIS week?" Do you remember when Lulouch geassed Gilbert, and then afterwards he always saw Lulouch as Cornelia? "PRINCESS CORNILIAA BLAHHH"? Or do you remember the episode where Lulouch's mother turns out to be alive (after she was bloodily murdered and became one of Lulouch's reasons for rebellion), the Emperor (who had been the main villain the entire series) turns out to be a good guy, but then it turns out they really aren't the good guys after all, and then the Emperor turns into a fucking rocket, launching at Lulouch to try and strangle him, before Lulouch makes both him and his Mother disappear? Do you remember how they "forgot" to tell us what C.C's real name was? Speaking of C.C., that was pretty cool how they effectively assassinated her character for a good chunk of R2. Remember when Zero wanted to get all his men out of Japan, so they all dressed up as Zero (including animals) just so they could all get exiled? I could go on. I didn't even mention Suzaku the walking Plot Device.
HotD was at least enjoyable in the fact that it had zombies (and therefore Zombie movie stuff), and had lots of action. You could just turn your brain off, and then watch things get killed for 20 minutes.
