I kind of liked the villains in TSR and afterwards namely because it kept Amalgam unpredictable even as you learned more about them. Provided a nice foil against Mithril, very nicely done.
When I say broken I actually meant it from a capability point of view, he was able to do crap that some can only dream of at best. The structure of Amalgam is quite an interesting one, really liked how that was done.
Eh, all his personal exploits aren't like super over the top for a main villain anyways. Although the amount of backstabbers in Mithril through the story line is disturbing...fire your HR dept Mithril...
Anyways, FMP has that wonderful plot/tech mechanic called Lamda Driver so a lot of his combat prowess really not that impressive.

Well, they even stated that Mithril was always going to have loyalty problems since they are, first and foremost, a mercenary company. If the only thing your soldiers are fighting for is money, they won't even think twice about switching sides if the enemy offers them more. Though in the case of that one guy, it was because he thought black technology was unnatural and shouldn't exist.
+ Show Spoiler [DenYuuDen 12] +I really liked this week's episode. Froaude purging the nobles was expected. That another guy from Garstark would appear, and actually beat Froaude was not. Klom's appearance was also awesome and unexpected, and now there's some interesting stuff between him and Froaude which I hope will be further developed in future episodes.

Except you realize that every AS pilot that's using the Lambda Driver, except Sousuke, Leonard (and some of his sidekicks) and Gauron needs to be on drugs to use the lambda driver. Most of them aren't even close to the named 3 in terms of being able to use the driver. It might just be something for the novel/manga readers, but lambda driver in the hands of the average Amalgam pilot isn't all that impressive.
As for DenYuuDen, they've managed to make a pretty cruddy source material into a good adaptation, watching pretty happily here.

I finally found a Master Grade God Gundam gunpla. Someone was selling one at AWA for $30. Its hard as hell to find them for sale online, so $30 was almost a steal IMO. Also got me an Alteisen.
Anyone else collect Gunpla (aka Gundam Model Kits)?

Reading Piano no Mori (manga) at the moment. I put it off because it didn't seem good because it was getting such rave reviews over such a long time that I finally willed myself to get into it, and man it's good O_O Anyone else come across this series?

Sweet Gundam 00 Movie comes out today, hopefully along with some DvD rips

Well, 9 out of 10 myanimelist users say it's an okay subbing job. The two written comments are complete opposites of each other though, so make of that what you will. It seems gg didn't approve of them either.
Bottom line? It's probably watchable, but don't expect it to be flawless.
Edit: LOL

At Anime Weekend Atlanta right now and man, Vic Micnogna's fangirls are ridiculously annoying ~_~. I've always heard about rabid fangirls' notoriety but seeing and hearing them in person is nuts. "ZOMG VIC I LUV YOU WHISPER IN MY EAR IN TAMAKI'S VOICE SQUEEEAAALLL"
Some of the cosplayers are good, most meh/whatever, some terrible. Kuroshitsuji is(Black Butler) a lot more popular than I thought (rabid fangirl effect I guess).

Kuroshitsuji has rabid fangirl effect everywhere it is localized at apparently, anyone know if season 2's popularity is anywhere as high as the first?

unfortunately the series is a little bit slow + heavy and as contras to the drawing, the story flow is definitely not for kids or those 12-14 years old teenagers... cant find a good site that update it often to follow the story line so i drop it....
i read billy bat after that though, same author with 20th century boys... xD
SOME MOD SHOULD CHANGE THIS INTO THE "OTAKU THREAD"... we not only discussing about anime here but manga as well :D

And visual/light novels as well. Though it's mostly southlight and ecael going at it.
Speaking of visual novels, they finished translating Big Bang Age! I'm going to get so little work done this coming week.

Edit: Just watched Bungaku Shoujo. Doki subs were okay.
+ Show Spoiler [Bungaku Shoujo] +Holy crap, Miu is one heck of a twisted person. The story was pretty good, if confusing at first. And traumatic experience or not, I couldn't help but feel that Konoha was being really, really stupid through for most of the movie. Having watched the first OVA, I was watching Touko when it was revealed that Konoha is Inoue Miu, but I didn't really notice anything special. ![](/mirror/smilies/frown.gif) ![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/ZHtzt.jpg) I couldn't tell if this was supposed to have any significance or if it was just a random lead in to his confession to Hatori/Miu. ![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/jq9Dp.jpg) Ugh, I feel so bad for her. She does so much and just gets completely rejected in the end. ![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/xlBIr.jpg) What the fuuuuuck. Way to ruin my perfect ending. So if I have this right, Touko turned him down because as the bungaku shoujo, she didn't want to keep his stories all to herself? Goddamn it. ![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/o8WWW.jpg) Unexpected development. He had practically no screen time in this movie. Oh, and what the heck's going on in that post credits scene? I understand that Konoha's writing another book, but that's about it. I assume that the woman at the door supposed to be the editor/Touko or something, but it's really vague. Has anyone here watched Kobato? It seems kinda interesting and I want to know if it's worth watching.

Wtf there was a BB tourney? CT or CS? You play it Sent?

Spazer, Kobato is quite the cute show. If you like CLAMP's past works you'll probably like Kobato.
About Bungaku Shoujo movie. + Show Spoiler +You have no idea how twisted Miu is, the novel version of this was way more twisted than the movie because it has the backstory to involve both Takeda and Akutagawa properly in the story. In the first screenshot, that was just something that we hear fairly often in the first 4 vols. Mostly it was a reference to how Miu complains about Konoha and how he'd want to be a tree, but it also serves as a segue for Konoha to confess to Miu. It was fairly significant in the original line being the indicator of the pure feelings the past Konoha had for Miu. I feel so sorry for Nanase. She never gets anything from the novels either in spite of getting screwed by the author in like 5 vols. Well, she gets something, but Touko tends to steal all the best spots. Even as a Touko fan I feel really sorry for Nanase ![](/mirror/smilies/frown.gif) They mixed in the separation of the two as the proper conclusion to the series. In a way I feel like the movie was trying to rush through the entire series. The anime's reasons for her turning him down was kind of vague, so I won't really comment on that other than how it feels weak to me. They definitely could've left it open ended, but I guess they wanted to fit everything up to the scene in the credits. + Show Spoiler [light spoilers for novels] +In vol 7 and 8, we essentially get into Touko's problems, of her family background and everything. You saw a little of that in the first OVA for Touko, but vol 7 and 8 were just amazingly well done and really showed the dilemma that Touko was in. I find it a shame that in the anime they were unable to get in the whole thing where Touko was trying to help Nanase to get together with Konoha because she has to draw away herself. Given that the novels are officially slated to be translated I'll withhold on spoilering more unless people want. Akutagawa and Takeda were both huge in the original vol 5, the former because he had a vol about him that led to the first hints that Miu was actually still alive, the latter because of vol 1. None of Takeda's problems from vol 1 have been fixed, as we know, and the author just keeps on reminding us of that fact throughout the series. It showed the most in vol 5, 7~8 and the short stories though. Anyway, both were actually quite involved in Miu's plot, the former in inadvertently leaking Konoha's information to Miu (and from point to point, almost cooperated with her), and the latter in actively helping Miu and setting up the entire plan to fuck with Konoha. You may guess the reason why. ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif) Also it took Miu forever to hit that point where she could work with children. Forever. The ending was basically that Touko coming back in the form she wanted it to be. I'll skip past all the little stuff about how she was kind of in love with Konoha from the time she read Inoue Miu's stuff, but basically she wanted Konoha to be able to take up the writing profession again. In the novels, Konoha is always sheltered by Touko in the series until the final vols, it was all essentially a giant subplot about Konoha's growth as a person and him slowly moving on from the trauma that haunted him for so long. Also, wtf Konoha so lucky, having his sister taking care of him like that. We totally needed more writings about his sister. Totally.

I stopped by a couple times, but never really went and watched. If you went to the Blazblue event at Tech a week ago I was the kid who tagged along with Justin and played a bad ABA in Guilty Gear.
