Hello TL ! Im not a really big , active poster on TeamLiquid at all . I tried writing a article on my favorite player Bisu , but I have the essay writing skills of a 7th grader .
Anyways . This week has been depressing . Things havent been going well with my girlfriend . She's so amazing, you know that ? She takes so much interest in the fact that I love SC/TL . She knows who my favorite player is (Bisu) , my race that I play (Protoss) , the three DIFFERENT races . I even gave her a TL shirt as a present . LOL . We've watched a couple matches together . JD vs Flying and Bisu vs BaBy WCG .
I'll fight to keep her , but I've been really down . How do you cheer yourselves up my fellow TL community members ?
I usually do it through music... the right tunes loaded up on my mp3 player and a long walk/drive just sets me off on the right path. It can be a good way of getting your head on correctly too... about what really matters and whats really going on in your relationship. What's going wrong with the girl?
Some activities I find refreshing: going for a run, then showering and eating something substantial. Listening to nice music. Playing the piano. Anything with friends.
Music, spending time with my girlfriend, friends, SC2, going for a walk, going to the gym, masturbating etc.
Definitely fight to keep your girl, girlfriends who support your interests are definitely worth it, it says alot about her imo.
That being said, don't let the little stuff get you down. Think about perspective, will any of the things that are bothering you matter in 6 months? a year? 5 years? if the answer is no then its definitely not worth worrying about.
Also, this video always cheers me up. Carl Sagan is good at making all your problems seem small and insignificant Every time I watch it I feel happy to just be alive.
Yeah, music has the ability to completely alter and/or enhance my moods. If I feel like wallowing in it I'll just blast some post rock or something else... I have a 9.8 hour playlist simply titled "melancholy" for times like that. But if I just need to get out of it and get through my day I've got music for that, too. The Decemberists never fail to cheer me up.
Also, Chill's right as far as hanging out with friends. It's incredibly hard to be down when you're around the people you love just enjoying each others company.
when i'm down i talk to my dog or put on big headphones and go for a walk. in both instances i get myself something really delicious for dinner, like these:
Its AMAZING. Sometimes I'll even just look at stuff like the NSFW pictures thread for lawls.
When I was less of a slug I'd go running or biking as well.
And lastly, sometimes thinking about why you're sad helps. Sure "life sucks", but often its something like "Wow I didn't sleep well the last 4 nights, my Seratonin is probably low and I'm just being fucked over by biology right now." Usually identifying a dumbass reason makes it feel better.
