first do something that you enjoy or doesn't involve much thinking and just relax. for me, i started drawing again (last time i did it was as a kid). it's simple, it's fun to do, and if you screw up, oh well. that's the one that you won't show people

then, after you're not as emotional, get your life in order. prioritize things and make a decision on what to do from there.

I go do something productive, like clean up, finish up homework, and random acts of kindness to anyone. Least it makes me feel like I'm doing something with my life.

Do something you enjoy, it's different for everybody. I find happy music really helps cheer me up.

And remember, like Chill kinda suggested, it's okay to feel bad once in a while. Sometimes we make ourselves feel worse by not allowing ourselves to feel bad. I find it really takes the power away from feeling bad if I just let myself feel a little sad or grumpy, instead of treating it like it's a big deal. Your chemistry in your brain sometimes just gets thrown off because you haven't had enough sleep or haven't been eating right or things like that. It tends to go away if you just don't make it that important.

Hey I know you didn't come for girlfriend advice, but just have a serious sit-down talk with her, and after the talk go to your favorite restaurant. I swear you will feel better. If things start to go to an argument just say, not here to have an argument, let's stop this, and go have fun.

During the talk just get off your chest your emotions, what's been going wrong. Say you are feeling depressed about the problem, admit you are wrong about something if you are, and just let it out. Being completely transparent is the most important thing in a relationship.

I usually find talking to my friends does the trick, even if just through IM. They're as crazy as me, so even just moaning to them how awful I feel at the moment inevitably leads to either joking around, laughing, serious talk, or what have you. And if they're feeling awful, going through your own miseries together makes it more bearable.

But of course there are just those meh days where you feel awful no matter what you do and who you talk to, and all you want to do is just drink some green tea and sleep, hoping tomorrow will be better.

The easiest way is to talk to friends, online or IRL. A lot of people are suggesting music - that doesn't work for me anymore though, mostly because it's hard to find music with good lyrics. When I'm down I visit www.simplynoise.com or www.rainymood.com, put on some headphones and read a book that I've read before. It's fun revisiting, getting to know the characters again, catching yourself smiling at some line you've forgot. Re-watching some favorite movies works as well. Just have it in the background and cook dinner or something. Can't go wrong with Scent of a woman. New stuff I reserve for when my mood is better. And if you feel really good one day when things are going great, write it down and read it when times aren't as good. Hopefully it will get your mind thinking in another direction, where life is seen as a friendly place.

As for the girl situation: When you feel better, try to see yourself through her eyes. Having a b/f that loves SC is alright, but it's nothing to brag home to the parents about. If you're serious about her you need to make an effort and prove it. However, she needs to be worth it, otherwise you need to find a better girl.
