hi TL, for my first blog post I will give you a little guide.
three easy steps:
1) lose to a god-damn stupid super-aggressive attack that you saw coming that should have been defendable if you only did [xyz]. 2) do 50 pushups. some people punch walls or break keyboards but this is an inferior strategy when compared to doing pushups, which do not leave marks on walls or require you to purchase additional keyboards. also if you lose a lot, you'll get stronger, and you win either way. roar. 3) ok now your rage is gone, you can think a bit, maybe watch the replay, maybe practice a little bit so you are less likely to make the same mistake(s) again.
repeat until #1 diamond or + Show Spoiler +

I don't get that angry after losing ONE game O_o...
My method of getting better was: Practicing BOs until I could do them in my sleep... Practicing 1a2a3a4a5a6a + Macroing against comps until that was basically muscle memory
The 50 pushups idea is nice, but doesn't really help you win haha

i can't do 50 pushups. what then?
|
lol. This thread is win.
Arnold is (was) such a fucking beast.
|
Good Idea. My rage is almost as overpowered as THOSE 5 SIEGE TANKS WHO RAPED MY ENTIRE @#^$& ARMY.
Probably will be Arnold before I hit diamond LOL.
|
Genius. there's no way to lose!

Haha, I was breaking between my pushup routine as I read this. So then I did 50 more. Win blog~

I've actually done pushups before...back it the day in BW but then I realized that I would be doing way too many pushups T__T
|
Hah I thought I was the only one who did pushups when I lost! Lol
I also do dumbell fly's and pullups but yeah. Good strategy. Except sometimes afterwards I feel like not playing anymore if I'm sore >.>
|
Yeah my get in shape strategy has been to do 20 situps and 20 pushups everytime I lose... it makes losing a win! so playing starcraft becomes a win/win

Pullups are a lot more punishing than 50 pushups. Especially if you keep having to do them. A few pushups and pullups every 10 to 30 minutes isn't going to do much.
Try a light version of the US Marine Corp physical fitness test: As many pullups as possible (perfect score 20) As many crunches in 2 minutes (perfect score 100) 3 mile run (perfect score 18:00) http://usmilitary.about.com/od/marines/l/blfitmale.htm
Maybe cycle in between each event between losses, although the 3 minute mile might take a bit more effort. Serves you right for losing 3 times in one day!

well the idea is to do 50 push ups every 10 to 30 minutes, or until failure. Either you've never done push ups or you do them wrong, because i can quite comfortably do more than 50 but if you're going until failure every ~20 minutes, it becomes very taxing, and tiring. Also, it's really quick and easy because everyone can just drop beside their desk and do them. Can't do runs and crunches blah blah as quickly without any set up
Besides it's just a fun blog about sc and exercise, it's not some get ripped and in shape info blog :D

I think it's to failure only if you can't do 50. You can do crunches without any setup, maybe you're thinking something else?
I thought the blog was about punishing yourself for losing, which means some pain/discomfort. I was playing with some frisbee players who punished themselves by doing pushups if they dropped/threw a bad pass, and I have the same objections. It wasn't painful, they were just doing a little exercise in between points. They should have been running hard wind sprints.
I've never felt, oh god, I have to do pushups now, must motivate myself so I don't have to do them.

Winners are so weak

Very inspiring. I am off to try my hand at 1v1 (I lose 9/10 games)
|
I just played game 1 and got hit by 30 zerglings when i was at 22 supply. I gg'd and did 20 "rage push-ups"
|
Great blog. I never hit walls or break equipment, but having a losing session can leave you feeling terrible - this seems a nice way to combat it
|
Anyone who does pushups properly will tell you that doing 50 consecutive pushups is very difficult. My best was 55 after a long time of training with the 100 pushups program, which was pretty much bullshit/impossible after a certain point.
