Game 1: SaferZerg (8-7)* vs Yooi (8-4) on Requiem
*stats are for OGN play.
SaferZerg showed off his immaculate control in this game, pinning Yooi to his main with mutalisks early on, and ravaging his army drunken frat party style whenever the bio army moved out. With Yooi cowering under the sheets holding no expo, SaferZerg teched up to guards on the strength of three gas and continued to force Yooi to turtle. Wraiths tried to remedy the situation, but apparently the pilots got airsick and ejected due to Yooi’s erratic control, leaving his grunts to the mercy of aerial acid. In the end, lurkers, lings and defilers poured down the ramp and laid waste to all in its path.
Game 2: Niza (3-2) vs Kos (15-19) on Mercury
This time wraiths got the last laugh in another air battle. Early two port wraiths enabled kos to mercilessly pick away at Niza early, allowing a MMF army to grow in his base. After switching from mutalisks to lurkers Niza broke out of the initial contain to take his second natural, but an ill-advised attack on the terran stronghold led to a brutal smack down of the zerg army, followed by an equally brutal counter attack that left Niza weeping in the corner and his OSL seed in jeopardy.
Game 3: Chojja (34-22) vs Doggi (17-27) on BiFrost
With Chojja already in the OCL finals and Doggi already out, neither player really had to show up for this game. However, Chojja showed his true professionalism by unleashing his wrath on the hapless Doggi. The terran had moderate success early by shutting down the zerg expansion with a bunker, but Chojja countered with lurkering ling at the backdoor of Doggi, pillaging the terran mineral line three consecutive times when Doggi tried to leave. When Doggi eventually did move out, Chojja hurled waves of lurker/ling at his army, wearing it down to a nub by the time it crossed the map. After losing his Maynard line of scv to more back door lurks, Doggi simply sat there as Chojja violated him from every angle. Despite the statistical meaningless of this game, both players were manner, sharing some amusing chat at the beginning. If any of our resident Korean informers can tell me what Chojja typed, I would appreciate it.
Game 4: SaferZerg vs Kos on Pelennor
SaferZerg continued his strong play today with a trouncing of kos on Pelennor. Although the terran player advanced on SaferZerg multiple times, lurker/ling rebuffed him with equal force. Eventually, SaferZerg managed to get his second gas at twelve while cutting off an expansion attempt at three by kos. After taking a third gas at eleven, SaferZerg turned up the heat and added defilers to his rape. SaferZerg looks really strong, and his games against Chojja next week will be very fun to watch.
Game 5: Niza vs Yooi on Requiem
In a meaningless game, Niza urinated upon honour and four pooled his way to a victory over Yooi who looked about as pleased as Rush Limbaugh at Lilith Fair. Niza later apologized, but I think he was just hungry for some ramen.
So where does this leave us? Here are the final results of the six playoff players:
1st Chojja (5-0)
2nd SaferZerg (4-1)
3rd kos (2-3)
4th Niza (2-3)
5th Yooi (2-3)
6th doggi (0-5)
So Chojja will face SaferZerg in a bo5 next week to determine the fourth OSL seed. Both these players are on a serious roll, with Chojja having stomped a mud path up and down this OCL. Don’t be surprised though if SaferZerg lights him up. This guy is on fire, and could make some serious waves.
Cheers.
